Director: David Boyd. Writers: Frank Darabont, Robert Kirkman and Ryan C. Coleman. Cast: Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Norman Reedus and Steven Yeun. Epis. 13 of Seas. 3 of "The Walking Dead," "Arrow on a Doorpost," continues to build tension for an upcoming season finale. Several characters squared off in an uneasy peace negotiation. As well, most characters seemed to be lying to others, with divisions unclear. The pacing in this episode was slowed by the sideshow back at the prison. But, fans of this undead serial likely enjoyed the mano a mano banter between two central characters. A meeting between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the Governor (David Morrissey) was the focus of this episode. Rick looked tired as the Governor tried to further wear this character down. The seemed to share a common bond over the death of their wives, but there was no meeting of the minds. Meanwhile,...

Ready to go "inside" last night's episode "The Walking Dead" and also check out a making-of video of the ep? While overall it was pretty tense, there was a bit of comic relief as Daryl, Andrea, and Martinez competed to see who could take out the most walkers.
We also have another look at a "talked about" scene from the episode in which the Governor offers Rick an end to their war.

The Walking Dead Episode 313
“Arrow on the Doorpost”
Written By: Ryan C. Coleman
Directed By: David Boyd
Original Airdate: 10 March 2013
In This Episode...
Backed up by Hershel and Daryl, Rick goes to a meeting with the Governor in a barn in a neutral location. The Governor sets aside his weapon as a sign of good faith, but Rick refuses to do the same. A wise bet, considering the Governor has a gun taped to the underside of the table. A car rolls up, carrying Martinez, Milton, and Andrea. Andrea was the one who called this meeting between Rick and the Governor. Rick suggests the prison crew take the land east of the river, while Woodbury takes the west. No trading; no trespassing. The Governor laughs. He is only there for Rick’s surrender. Andrea tries to mediate, but the boys start whipping out their (metaphorical) dicks and kick her out.

Review Ron Hogan 11 Mar 2013 - 07:32
This week's episode of The Walking Dead stages the confrontation we've been waiting for all season. Here's Ron's review...
This review contains spoilers.
3.13 Arrow on the Doorpost
An entire season has been building to this point. All season long, the survivors at the prison and Woodbury have been drawing closer and closer to the inevitable conflict. With the two leaders being compared at all steps by the writers and directors of the show, down to match cuts and montages, there hasn't been any real contact between the two. Intermediaries come and go, survivors slip between affiliation to Woodbury and the prison, but Rick and the Governor have never seen one another, never spoken face-to-face. That all changes with this episode.
The confrontation is a pretty simple one, but it's a great example of how the show should have been conducting its talkier moments all along.

The Walking Dead, Season 3, Episode 13: “Arrow on the Doorpost”
Written by Ryan C. Coleman
Directed by David Boyd
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
You have to wonder if tonight’s episode entitled “Arrow on the Doorpost” has any relation to one of Bob Dylan’s masterpieces; an antithesis to the American Dream, Dylan’s dirge “Blind Willie McTell” is about a nation that is condemned.
I suspect that the majority of The Walking Dead’s audience will write this off as one of those episodes in which not much happens. And for once, they are right.
Following last week’s brilliant side-trip episode “Clear,” The Walking Dead once again abandons what was once a weekly formula of jumping back and forth from the prison and Woodbury, and settles on a new locale. “Arrow on the Doorpost” may be low on action but serves a purpose in returning...

Rick, Hershel and Daryl arrived in their car and on motorbike, respectively, at an abandoned farm, and after navigating through the farm with their weapons at hand, Rick and the Governor met face-to-face inside a barn at what looked like a pre-arranged meeting. There weren’t as many photo releases from AMC this week, but as promised, we’ve updated our gallery this weekend with a total of eleven images from tomorrow’s episode of The Walking Dead. We’ve also included the previously released preview video and three clips.
With an all-out war between the prison and Woodbury groups looming, Episode 313 offers a glimmer of hope that things could be resolved peacefully. We’ve seen the episode, but there’s not a whole lot we can say without giving something away. What we will say is that this episode offers some really great character exchanges, and it’s exciting to see some characters interacting for the first time. This episode continues the good balance of drama and action, but looks to be setting up events that will take place over the final three episodes.

If there's one thing that'more controversial than the content of AMC's "The Walking Dead," it's the revolving showrunner door that's been in motion since Season 1.
Today creator Robert Kirkman had some words about the newest head honcho, Scott Gimple.
In a recent interview with Zap2It, Kirkman dropped the following on fans...
"I think having Scott Gimple come up and become an executive producer and showrunner is gonna provide a very tremendous voice for the show. I think it's gonna give us a clear path moving forward. He's been an integral part of the writers room since the beginning of Season 2. I think we've got some really exciting times ahead of us under his leadership."
"When that slot opened up, he was obviously the clear choice. You know he also wrote the episode where Sophia comes out of the barn ["Pretty Much Dead Already"]. A lot of the key moments that fans love that...

"The Walking Dead" is accelerating toward the end of its third season with episodes that have ramped up the aggression between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the Governor (David Morrissey) and, in the latest installment, reintroduced Morgan (Lennie James) from the zombie drama's first year. "Arrow on the Doorpost," the upcoming episode, is directed by David Boyd ("Home Run") and written by Ryan C. Coleman, and will find Rick and the Governor meeting to attempt to come up with a peace treaty in order to prevent more deaths. AMC's released the following images from the upcoming episode exclusively to Indiewire, both taken by Gene Page, showcasing some walkers and an armed and ready Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).
