Plot: A man, Fallon (Alex Pettyfer) roams the land as a creature of the night as he comes to terms with tragic loss of his family at the hands of a brutal demagogue, Reynolds (Guy Pearce).
Review: “The Sun Never Sets On Evil” may just be the most generic tagline for a vampire film possible. So I understand if you, like myself, are trepidatious when it comes to Sunrise. The basic vampire formula has been used time and time again but I always appreciate it when someone has an interesting new vision. On the surface, this is a simple story of a vampire helping a family get justice. But it’s so much more than that. I’ve always believed that it doesn’t matter how generic the story is, so long as it executes those ideas. And Sunrise provides a beautiful tragedy with some wonderful performances.

Sunrise Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Alex Pettyfer, Crystal Yu, William Gao, Kurt Yaeger, Olwen Fouéré, Guy Pearce
Director: Andrew Baird
Sunrise Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – Lionsgate Movies / YouTube )
What’s Good: Guy Pearce’s sharp performance as the detestable Joe Reynolds stands out, capturing the essence of a villain with racist ideologies and a sense of entitlement. The film occasionally succeeds in capturing the gritty essence reminiscent of top-tier vampire films, exploring the terrifying aspects of racism and violence.
What’s Bad: “Sunrise” grapples with generic dialogue, a lack of character depth, and an inconsistent exploration of its intriguing concepts. The film’s attempt to fuse a vampire story with themes of American racism feels awkward and lacks nuance. The narrative meanders through various genres, resulting in a slow and disorganized amalgamation of ideas.

"The fields are dying! The land done turn its back on us." Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for a horror thriller titled Sunrise, from filmmaker Andrew Baird. It was filmed up in Belfast and takes place in Northern Ireland as a UK / US production - opening in January 2024 in the US. An ex-cop, Fallon, roams the land as a creature of the night as he comes to terms with tragic loss of his family at the hands of a brutal demagogue, Reynolds. After he is befriended by a kind immigrant family, the instinctive killer is faced with a choice between revenge and redemption. It seems to be a vampire tale in reverse - should this vamp get revenge on the man who killed his family, or not? Guy Pearce and Alex Pettyfer star in this thrilling tale, along with Olwen Fouéré, Kurt Yaeger, William Gao, Crystal Yu, and Forrest Bothwell.

“The Hunger Games” star Sam Claflin has boarded George C. Siougas’ short film “The One Note Man” as an executive producer.
Narrated by Ian McKellen (“Lord of the Rings”), the Christmas-set story focuses on a bassoonist wedded to his routine, which involves playing a single note each day in the orchestra he is part of before returning home. One day, after accidentally overhearing a mind-blowing violin solo the musician finds himself caught between “staying in his comfort zone or stepping out and changing his life forever.”
The film, which has qualified for Oscar submission after winning the grand prize for best live action short at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, stars Jason Watkins (“The Crown”), Louisa Clein (“Emmerdale”), Crystal Yu (“Doctor Who”), Paul Barber (“The Full Monty”).
It does not feature any dialogue, instead giving audiences an opportunity to enjoy an original score by “Shakespeare in Love” composer Stephen Warbeck.
