There is a whole new Batman in town.
Despite that familiar name, upcoming “Aztec Batman: The Clash of Empires” will introduce an original hero, assured its team during their riotous presentation at Annecy.
Overseen by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, the film is produced in Mexico in partnership with Ánima and Chatrone.
“This is a bold project,” admitted director Juan Meza-León, joined on stage by character designer Marvick Núñez and art director Diego Olascoaga. Promising an alternate take on the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, but also opening up about his protagonist’s surprising yet apparently historically accurate look.
“No big jaw, no big shoulders. Slimmer. A little less Schwarzenegger, a little more Bruce Lee. We had to focus on the man underneath the armor,” he said.
“We wanted to be true to the story we were telling. We hired an expert on Aztec matters, who was advising us every step of the way,...

Queens on the Run (Fuga de reinas) is a Mexican comedy directed by Jorge Macaya and starring Martha Higareda, Paola Nuñez, Alejandra Ambrosi, Valeria Vera.
A funny Mexican movie that, between Thelma and Louise and Sky Rojo, takes us to the adventures of four very nice women.
Very entertaining, it delves more in the funny and sympathetic tone than in the thriller.
Without being the movie of our lives, it achieves what it intends: to make us have a good time without disturbing us too much.
Simple.
Movie Review
Funny, good rhythm, excellent comic performances, exaggeratedly self-conscious: four great protagonists with whom to spend two hours and, unfortunately, forget about them after ten minutes.
With Queens on the Run we are clear about it after five minutes: it only aims to entertain, following usual plots and with a hint of parody to American cinema and the classic road movies with women characters.

"Have you ever had a week where... where everything made sense?" Amazon Prime Video has debuted an official trailer for Book of Love, a romantic comedy set in Mexico. This hasn't premiered anywhere before, and will be available for streaming in February of 2022. This Valentine's Day, uptight English writer Henry discovers that his dull, failing novel has become a smashing success in Mexico, where the Spanish translator Maria has rewritten it into a spicy erotic thriller. Opposites attract as the two are thrown together and travel through Mexico on a book tour. Sam Claflin stars as the writer, and Verónica Echegui co-stars as the translator Maria, with a cast including Horacio Garcia Rojas, Antonia Clarke, Melissa Pino, Giovani Florido, and Galya Vidal. This looks super cheesy, but also kind of kinky and quite fun? I like how he has to deal with heap loads of attraction and how this makes...

Of course, this doesn’t exactly go smoothly, and while this is all happening there’s a young girl being hunted by warriors with big ole medieval weapons.
