It’s not easy being a Magnum P.I. fan — even after the CBS castoff got saved and renewed for Season 5 on NBC.
For one, fans of the island drama saw NBC slot Season 5 for Sundays at 9/8c, where it led out of all manner of reruns — meaning, no strong lead-in. Viewership in turn fell 30% from its CBS swan song (which of course aired on Fridays). And now, with the release of NBC’s new fall schedule, it looks like the back half of that season might not see the light of day until midseason, meaning early 2024.

Freshman drama “Quantum Leap” is taking a quantum leap to Tuesdays, as NBC unveiled a mostly strike-proof fall schedule that features three new series (two dramas and a comedy) and a crowded midseason bench.
The Peacock net’s lineup is heavy as always on football and Dick Wolf: And even more so on the pigskin, as NBC’s new deal to cover Big Ten football kicks in with a new Saturday showcase. But with few changes in store, the network will rely on established series to launch its freshman entries.
NBC will use unscripted mainstay “The Voice” on Mondays to launch the new Jesse L. Martin starrer “The Irrational,” based on author Dan Ariely’s “Predictably Irrational,” at 10 p.m. On Tuesday, the hit “Night Court” revival will continue to lead off the night and help launch the new comedy “Extended Family,” starring Jon Cryer and Donald Faison, and from Mike O’Malley,...

NBC has finally released its schedule for the 2023 to 2024 TV season, and this time around new series from Jon Cryer and Tom Hanks are leading the charge alongside network staples. NBC’s fall schedule will include three new scripted series as well as a new night of Big Ten Football.
“Lopez vs. Lopez” and “Law and Order: Organized Crime” will also officially be returning, though they’re not set to premiere until midseason. According to Jeff Bader, President of Entertainment Program Planning Strategy for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, “Organized Crime” is currently undergoing a showrunner change and does not currently have a showrunner. “It actually is best for the show to have some time to regroup, and it’ll come on as part of the Thursday lineup later in the season,” Bader told TheWrap.

NBC is opening up a new fall comedy block on Tuesday nights and has pushed a couple of its drama series to midseason.
The network unveiled its fall schedule, which sees Jon Cryer’s Extended Family run after Night Court, Quantum Leap moves to Tuesday night, while Found replaces Law & Order: Organized Crime on Dick Wolf’s second night in the fall and La Brea, with its short order season, also pushed to midseason.
There are plenty of strike contingencies built into the schedule, in part as a result of NBC renewing shows early and keeping them in production ahead of the writers walking out.
Jeff Bader, President, Entertainment Program Planning Strategy, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, told Deadline that shows such as Night Court, Quantum Leap, Found, The Irrational and Extended Family will all be on the fall schedule even if there’s an extended strike “because we’re...

NBC will add three new scripted series to its primetime lineup for the start of the 2023-24 season — and since all three began production well before the writers strike, they’ll be ready to go right away even if writers (or other industry unions) are still on strike.
The network has done a significant amount of strike-proofing for its fall slate, such that six of seven nights will feature original programming even if the Writers Guild of America strike delays the usual summertime start of production on returning shows. NBC’s new series — dramas Found and The Irrational and comedy Extended Family — were all picked up outside the traditional development cycle and thus filmed several episodes each before writers struck on May 1. (Found was originally set to premiere in February before being pushed back to fall.) Unscripted shows The Voice and The Wall and sports on Saturday and Sunday nights...

NBC revealed its fall 2023-24 TV schedule on Friday ahead of its Monday upfront event. The broadcast channel’s lineup was in no way impacted by the WGA strike, NBCUniversal’s president of program planning Jeff Bader told IndieWire.
Bader said what he put out today is “the exact same schedule” that NBC would have unveiled if the WGA and AMPTP came to terms earlier this month. “The schedule was actually done before we knew whether or not the strike was going to happen,” he said during a telephone interview.
It helps that the schedule is, in Bader’s words, “very stable” with last year’s lineup. That will be NBC’s main talking point Monday when the network pushes its programming on advertisers and tries to ignore the Linda Yaccarino- and Jeff Shell-sized elephants in their Radio City Music Hall room.

Diedrich Bader has played the best friend before. He did it for nine seasons of The Drew Carey Show. He did it two decades later on Pamela Adlon’s meditative Better Things. He also did it plenty of other times in between. But something about being the Bob Odenkirk’s wingman on Lucky Hank, the AMC series based on Richard Russo’s 1997 novel Straight Man, made it feel different for Bader — a man whose IMDb tally currently stands at 237 acting credits.
“I had stopped feeling like an artist and more like a craftsman making cabinetry,” Bader says of his mindset before taking on the black comedy about aging academics. “There’s a lot of artistry in making cabinetry, but maybe once you’ve made too many, it’s like “Here’s another cabinet!” With this, I felt like “Here’s everything I’ve got. I can bring comedy, but I can also bring some reality.

Despite Lindsay Lohan’s talents, her career has certainly seen its share of ups and downs, from critically praised and panned films to highly publicized feuds with relatives. But with her recent re-emergence on the silver screen, it’s worth taking a second look at her career to date. One of her more notable movies, The Canyons, was panned for its plot but praised for her performance. It also involved Lohan making an interesting request of the crew.

Few events loom larger in the minds of movie teenagers than prom. Dreams are realized, bullies are put in their place, girls are declared “all that.” Real life is rarely as dramatic, thankfully, but that doesn’t mean we should expect studios (and streamers) to stop trying to make the next “Pretty in Pink” or “10 Things I Hate About You” anytime soon. Disney offer a fresh take on teendom’s big night with “Prom Pact,” in which two platonic best friends who are more comfortable on the outside looking in decide to finally step into the fray of high school life.
