To the surprise of many, All Elite Wrestling reportedly chose to pick up Brian Cage’s option to stick around in the company. Brian Cage hasn’t had a wrestling match since his loss to Ricky Starks in a Philadelphia Street Fight on Rampage back in October. Though not confirmed, Brian Cage reportedly received heat following a rant from his wife, Melissa Santos, about the company not using him properly. Which, when you examine his career in All Elite Wrestling then you could certainly agree with the former Lucha Underground announcer. The former Impact World Champion nicely built his name around the

Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have plenty to get to, so let’s do so before Air Supply sing “God Save The Queen” while wearing Puff The Magic Dragon costumes. Also, I’m changing the name of the “Best Performer” award to avoid confusion with the “Best Performance” award, since they apply to different parts of wrestling (at least for the way these awards work). “Best Performer” is now known as “Best Speaker”, until I can think of something better. If there is no “Best Performer” award, then screw whatever I just said.
Best Promo:
Brian Cage Married Melissa Santos (Impact Wrestling) – This was really funny and produced quite well, even though it didn’t serve much of a purpose…except for one.

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a wedding at the climax of the show. Yeah, a wedding. Who would pay to see a wrestler get married when you could pay to see them fight some-one? Okay, let’s get to the marriage thing so I don’t have to talk about that ever again.
Match #1: Rob Van Dam & Rhino w/ Konnan def. The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Rhino attempts the Gore but Page cuts him off with a superkick. Rvd and Page spill to the outside with Rvd taking a nasty spill. The referee is checking on Rvd on the floor. Meanwhile, Alexander attempts to use the title as a weapon but Konnan stops him. Rhino connects with the Gore on Alexander, followed by a Five Star Frog Splash from Rvd to win.

Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Imhotep must not be awakened or the 10 Plagues of Egypt shall destroy the world! Does that look as stupid as it felt to write it? I’d erase it but the budget still isn’t large enough to make a purchase of the delete button possible. Anyway, we have a bunch of stuff to get to, so let’s get to it.
Best Promo:
Resist and Refuse (Impact) – Rich Swann and Sami Callihan were involved in another good promo that saw Swann choose to not join oVe. This feud is slowly turning into some-thing that has big potential, but we’re also only still in the beginning of it all.

Welcome to this week’s Lucha Underground review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have some big surprises to get to! Shin Lim! Also, we will use a recent review of Lucha Underground from Josiah MacDonald of the Wrestling Observer, to provide some context for this review. Please feel free to visit www.f4wonline.com to enjoy all that the Wrestling Observer and Figure Four Online have to offer. Let’s get right to it!
Match #1: Fenix defeated Aerostar The following is courtesy of the Wrestling Observer and Josiah MacDonald:
Fenix nearly killed Aerostar in the opening seconds of this match, but Aerostar followed up with a few moves and a codebreaker. Fenix countered with a jumping spin kick and then a cutter, but Aerostar kicked out. Fenix started hitting ground and pound on Aerostar, which was very uncharacteristic. Aerostar got up and hit...

Welcome to this week’s Lucha Underground review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we will use a very recent review of this card from WrestlingInc and the author of the review, Joesph James. Let’s jump right in.
Match #1: El Dragon Azteca Jr. beat Ivelisse – Gift of the Gods Championship Match The following is courtesy of Joseph James and WrestlingInc.com:
Ivelisse gains an early advantage with a few nice arm drags, followed by frankensteiner from the middle rope. Dragon Azteca catches Ivelisse with a running crescent kick in the middle of her suicide dive attempt, and begins to work on the left arm to wear Ivelisse down. Azteca shows off some nice submission skills with a Boston Crab and a crossface, but Ivelisse uses her Mma background to escape.
Ivelisse begins a comeback and lands a gorgeous tornado Ddt in the center of the...

Welcome to this week’s Lucha Underground review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a night… of death!
Match #1: Matanza Cueto beat Joey Wrestling
Matanza killed Joey in this match. The idea is that he has sacrificed his sixth victim here. The match itself was good for what it was, with Matanza looking like a monster as usual. It’s weird to see Joey Mathews/Mercury/Wrestling in for a quick run, but it was built on avenging Johnny Mundo, so at least there’s a reason for it. This is a good way to perform some late summer cleaning on the roster, I suppose.
Match #2: Killshot beat Big Bad Steve (w/ The Beautiful Brenda)
This was a good match that made Killshot look like a bigger deal than when he walked in. Killshot, who is Shane Strickland in real life, has struggled...

Welcome to this week’s Lucha Underground review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a few big matches to cover here, so let’s do so.
Match #1: Mil Muertes (w/ Catrina) beat The Mack – Haunted House Match
This was a good match that brought Halloween a few months early. The idea here was that they had half of the inventory from Party City to attack each other with. This was like watching the Scott Steiner/Jeff Jarrett brawl from Tna/Impact that was booked to be Mick Foley’s idea. If Lou Thesz was here, he’d cut a promo on how stupid these two guys were for working a match like this and how bad their gimmicks are. The Mack deserves more than just being fodder for Mil, who is talented, but not likely to go too much farther with this character. Mil is a fun gimmick,...

Here’s your Lucha Underground Season 4, episode 3, review for Wednesday June 27th 2018:
Match #1: Xo Lishus beat Jack Evans
Regularly known as Sonny Kiss, this was Xo Lishus’s debut. With a vibrant personality and a buoyant move-set, Xo took on Jack Evans, one of wrestling’s best aerialists and all-around fighters. Evans was a heel here, which never seems to be the way the people want him, but Lucha Underground isn’t very flexible in the way they book their faces and heels, so its just some-thing he’s stuck with. These two matched up really well, Evans leap from corner to corner like a maniac and Xo bouncing around like a peacock colored pin-ball. I’m glad to see that Lu doesn’t have a problem with putting over new stars on the first night, especially ones who look like Vince McMahon’s worst nightmares come true.

The Rock is a big fan of Lucha Underground. Yes, really.
The Hollywood A-lister and part time grappler replied to a tweet sent by independent star Ricochet, who coincidently appears on Lucha Underground as Prince Puma.
Ricochet told The Great One he should check out the show if he wasn’t busy.
Hey @TheRock. What are you doing next Wed? You should check out @LuchaElRey on the @Elreynetwork. Starts at 8/7c.
— Ricochet (@KingRicochet) January 21, 2016
Out of the blue somewhat, Rocky replied: “Gonna watch. Show looks cool & gritty. Robert Rodriguez is a good bud and his content is dope. #LuchaUnderground.”

World Wrestling Entertainment officials are currently looking for a new Latin female star to be a face of the company, reports the Wrestling Observer. They are looking for somebody with sex appeal and Spanish speaking skills, and for someone who can be front and centre in helping to expand WWE’s Latin audience.
It’s a no brainer for WWE to want to get a Latin star since that’s a big percentage of the fanbase, especially in the Us. They had a popular Latin diva in Melina Perez in the mid to late 2000s, but she’s been out of the company for about five years and they need a new star. Lucha Underground
