Dave Riley(V)
- Actor
Dave Riley was born in Bangor, Maine, graduated from high school in
Peabody, Massachusetts, and earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in
Creative Writing at San Francisco State University. After graduating
from the year-long Russian language program at the Defense Language
Institute in Monterey, California, he served as a Russian translator on
the East German border during the Cold War. It was during his Russian
studies that he first got into acting at the Wharf Theater in Monterey.
Following schooling and military service, he taught high school English
and filmmaking for 18 years. After he retired from a second career as a
marketing writer, a chance casting in 2002 as the ultimate victim in
Hollywood Homicide got him into film acting. In his first extended
principal role in a feature film - as yet untitled but due out in
August - he plays a well-meaning but naïve southern preacher. He has
studied acting with Hal Landon Jr. at South Coast Repertory Theater in Costa
Mesa, California, and had extensive voiceover training with VO veteran
Bud Barth, one of the voices of Fred Flintstone. He is an avid golfer
and a daily jogger.
