Prince Harry’s taking a backseat as Meghan Markle gets American Riviera Orchard off the ground. According to a royal author, the Duke of Sussex will likely be in the spotlight less as his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, launches her new lifestyle brand. The reason, they claim, is because Harry’s a “reminder” that “all is not well” in their relationship with King Charles III and Kate Middleton as the two undergo cancer treatment. Ahead, what the author had to say and more about Meghan’s new business venture.

Prince Harry doesn’t have Meghan Markle’s support in “reaching out” to Prince William and Kate Middleton. According to royal author Tom Quinn, Meghan is “worried” how potentially skipping the Invictus Games 10-year anniversary service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, 2024, might come across.

“When your sister-in-law and your father-in-law both have cancer [and] you do nothing, it is not a good look,” the Gilded Youth author said.

Neon, the studio that backed Oscar-winners “Anatomy of a Fall” and “Parasite,” has ironed out a deal with Waypoint Entertainment, the production company behind “The Favourite” and “The Nice Guys,” to bring more mid-budget movies to the big screen.
The deal follows the company’s collaboration on the Hunter Schafer-led horror movie “Cuckoo,” which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and SXSW. Waypoint’s investment will allow Neon to expand its production and distribution efforts, something it’s been attempting to do since the New York-based distributor explored a sale in 2022 as a way to grow its business. Though a deal with investor Steven Rales, the wealthy businessman who founded the production company Indian Paintbrush, never came to fruition, Neon has managed to bolster its footprint. Prince Harry returned to the spotlight, albeit briefly, to give an interview in Canada while marking one year to the 2025 Invictus Games. The Duke of Sussex made headlines for what he said — more on that ahead — but, as for why he stepped in front of the camera, a royal author has shared their own theory. It has to do with the ongoing royal family rift and playing a certain “role.”
Harry seized the ‘mature’ role in the February 2024 interview
On Feb. 16, 2024, the last day of Harry and Meghan Markle’s Canada trip promoting the 2025 Invictus Games, the duke’s Good Morning America interview aired. Speaking to the U.K.’s Mirror, royal author Tom Quinn shared why he felt Harry agreed to the interview.

The green monster strikes again. A royal commentator says Prince William may feel a “degree of jealousy” about Prince Harry’s success with the Invictus Games. Ahead, what about the adaptive sporting competition could be sparking said feelings. Plus, why another commentator claimed William and his wife, Kate Middleton, might’ve actually been happy with the recent countdown to the 2025 Invictus Games events in Canada.
William’s ‘degree of jealousy’ toward Harry about the Invictus Games
On the heels of the Duke of Sussex’s headline-making interview in Canada and his and Meghan Markle’s three-day trip to the Commonwealth nation comes its arrival on Hulu.
Now, the 39-year-old’s February 2024 comments about loving his family and feeling “grateful” he got to visit King Charles III are streaming.

A brand new teaser for mysterious horror film Cuckoo, from Neon and director Tilman Singer (Luz), debuted today, giving us another look at star Hunter Schafer (“Euphoria”) while revealing absolutely nothing.
Cuckoo is coming to theaters on May 3, 2024.
In Cuckoo: “Reluctantly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Something doesn’t seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family.”
Check out the enigmatic teaser below, which leaves a character vulnerable to the open night and telling us nothing about the plot. A very intriguing move!

Queen Elizabeth II was the reigning monarch for 70 years before her death in 2022. While she was queen, she often followed strict royal protocol and etiquette rules, even going so far as to be the likely reason King Charles couldn’t immediately marry Camilla Parker Bowles (Camilla reportedly wasn’t seen as good enough for Charles). It turns out there were a number of beliefs the queen held, including the idea that there was no such thing as a “part-time” royal — which is why Charles and Prince William reportedly are having such a hard time letting Harry back into the family.

The complexities between Prince William and Prince Harry are at an all-time high, especially following the release of Harry’s revealing memoir, Spare. Within its pages, Harry disclosed a moment that epitomized their fractured relationship: a heartfelt promise from William that, instead of mending their bond, stopped Harry “cold.”
Although William sought to bridge the emotional gap with earnest vows of love and happiness for his brother, his words were met with disbelief.

Exclusive: Neon has landed U.S. rights to Babes, a comedy that was privately screened outside of the official festival roster at Toronto.
After that screening, five distributors chased it before Tom Quinn’s Neon won it. Pamela Adlon, the Emmy winner behind Better Things, made her feature directorial debut on the film. Scripted by Ilana Glazer and Josh Rabinowitz, the film is a smart comedy that stars Glazer, Michelle Buteau, Hasan Minhaj and John Carroll Lynch.
Emmy-winning Broad City breakout Glazer plays Eden, an aggressively single woman who becomes pregnant from a one-night stand. She leans on her married best friend and mother of two (Buteau) to guide her through gestation and beyond.
The U.S. deal was made by FilmNation Entertainment, Range Media Partners and CAA Media Finance. International sales are being done by FilmNation.

After years of playing the role of the royal family’s most eligible bachelor, Prince Harry married actor Meghan Markle in 2018. However, while it appeared on the surface the couple had little in common, Meghan apparently “clicked” with Harry for one key reason, says a royal biographer.
What was the one thing that ‘clicked’ between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?
Royal biographer Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, told Express that one element in the relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just “clicked.” Here’s what he had to say.
Quinn suggested that Meghan allowed Harry the freedom to leave his role as a royal spare to his brother, Prince William. But, this one element of their relationship reportedly intrigued Harry, as he felt stuck in his position as a senior royal.

The Neon donation will support real-time Covid-19 response and assistance through the distribution of funds, tests, supplies and vaccines to the countries and areas that are hardest hit worldwide. Variety has inquired about the sum of the company’s donation, but hasn’t yet heard back.

Gotta love that title! Producer Walter Mirisch’s small-scale Monogram noir was once assumed lost, but now it’s making its home video debut on Blu-ray. A luckless young entertainer finds himself neck deep in murder trouble, when an unbreakable string of circumstantial evidence points directly at him. As the date of his execution nears, the only way his desperate wife can help him is to encourage the detective on the case to think he has a chance with her. Taken from a Cornell Woolrich story, the show tries hard despite its low budget — we can almost feel Mirisch behind the scenes, making sure the picture has heart and sincerity.

As the 2021 Cannes Film Festival arrived at its halfway point, filmmakers and industry insiders were eager to catch up with their colleagues, many of whom they hadn’t seen in over a year. On Sunday, IndieWire joined forces with The Gotham Film and Media Institute and sponsor Fiji Water for a rooftop toast to the American presence at the festival this year. The event took place atop Hotel 3.14, the former location of the Hotel Savoy, which once housed many Cannes attendees when the Palais des Festival was located further down the port.
The outdoor gathering was packed with familiar faces from the indie scene. Filmmakers in attendance included Sean Baker, whose latest feature “Red Rocket” marks his first entry into the festival’s Competition section, after “The Florida Project” premiered at Directors’ Fortnight in 2017. This year, that section is welcoming Saul Williams and Anisia Uzeyman, who attended the party the...

What’s left for the Oscars? The telecast will proceed, two months late, on April 25, but as to what might qualify — the only definitive answer will come when we reach the February 28 submission deadline. As a canary in a coal mine, “Tenet” failed to reignite audiences; instead, it revealed the hazards of theatrical play. With theaters in New York and Los Angeles still closed, many North American moviegoers are not yet ready to support a wide, expensive indoor release.

Exclusive: Neon has teamed with Topic Studios to win a pitched bidding battle and will pay north of $4 million for U.S. rights to Spencer, with Pablo Larraín is set to direct and Kristen Stewart to play Princess Diana. The drama has been one of the most hotly contested packages at the virtual Cannes Market.

Exclusive: FilmNation is selling international rights for Sundance darling Palm Springs, which previously sold to Hulu and Neon in a whopping $22M global deal at Park City.
