You can always count on plenty of plot twists when watching daytime soaps, and that’s also true of the Daytime Emmys, whose 2019 nominations were announced on March 20 live on CBS’s “The Talk.” Check out the full list of nominees here to see who made the cut, and scroll down to find out who didn’t.
These nominations were preceded by the pre-nominations, which were announced in January and included all the actors in each drama category whose work would then be evaluated by blue ribbon panels to decide the nominees and winners. The number-one show in those pre-nominations was “The Young and the Restless,” which had 21 actors cited across seven races. It was shocking then to see that only five of those actors made the final list of nominees.

The nominees and winners in these drama series acting races were decided in a single round of blue ribbon voting where eligible peer judges watched performance reels submitted by the pre-nominated actors. In the lead and supporting categories, those pre-nominees were selected by an initial round that winnowed down all submitted actors to the top 10 per category. There are seven acting categories for TV dramas at the Daytime Emmys, and when you look at the pre-nominations they could all go to a past Emmy champ … except for one. Best Younger Actor is the only field this year where every single contender would be a first-time winner. Most of them would even be first-time nominees. So who will win this wide-open contest?
Last year’s winner, Rome Flynn (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), left his show in 2017, so he’s out. Also absent from the list is the actor we thought would win last year, Casey Moss (“Days of Our Lives”), even though he is still on the show and still of age. Ditto child actor Hudson West (“General Hospital”), who isn’t on the pre-nominations list either despite still being featured on his series.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is out with the drama performer pre-nominations for its 46th Daytime Emmy Awards. CBS’ The Young and the Restless leads the field with 21, edging ABC’s General Hospital (20) and NBC’s Days of Our Lives (19). CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful is next with 13.
The 2019 Daytime Emmys will be the first since network soaps threatened to boycott the trophy show in the summer over NATAS’ response to their demands that major changes be made to the voting and accounting practices for the awards and the way the competition is held. The threat was called off in November.
The full list of nominations will be unveiled on March 20 ahead of the May 5 ceremony.
“We are very proud to officially launch the 46th annual Daytime Emmy Awards with this list of extremely talented actors and actresses” said Brent Stanton, Executive Director of the Daytime Emmy Awards Administration.

Tristan Lake Leabu is returning to The Young and the Restless to reprise the role of Victoria and J.T.'s son, Reed Hellstrom, according to Soaps in Depth.
The character left town last April to escape the spotlight after it was revealed that his father had tried to kill Victor and seemingly skipped town. Reed moved to a boarding school that specialized in musical education. Now that J.T.'s disappearance has been reclassified as a homicide investigation, Reed has a compelling reason to come back to Genoa City.
Leabu is scheduled to return to the air as Reed on December 10.

NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” emerged as the big winner at Sunday’s Daytime Emmy Awards, winning Outstanding Drama Series as well as awards for writing, directing, lead actor James Reynolds and supporting actor Greg Vaughan.
CBS’ “The Talk” pulled off an upset, beating frequent winner “Ellen” for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment. Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show has won six of the last 10 years, including last year. And the co-hosts of “The Real” surprised as Outstanding Hosts in the category.
Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes, longtime stars of “Days of Our Lives,” received a lifetime achievement award, as did veteran kids TV creators Sid and Marty Krofft.
Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood hosted the ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Who will win the Daytime Emmy for Best Younger Actor? There may not be much suspense judging by the sample performance reels submitted to the television academy’s blue ribbon panel. Gold Derby contributor Tony Ruiz and I have both watched every nominated performance, and we think Casey Moss (“Days of Our Lives”) is far ahead for his performance as Detective Jj Deveraux, who in his scenes becomes overwhelmed with guilt and contemplates suicide after shooting an unarmed man in the line of duty. Watch our slugfest above.
“I think he’s as close to a lock as there could possibly be,” says Ruiz. “I don’t see how Casey Moss loses this. It has everything that a good Emmy submission needs to have: it’s emotional, there’s lots of range, it ends with a huge scene of impact.” I agree that Moss’s reel makes him the overwhelming favorite,...

2018 Daytime Emmy reels: Lucas Adams (‘Days of Our Lives’) vows to avenge his mother’s death [Watch]

That includes the race for Best Younger Actor, were Lucas Adams has earned his first nomination for playing Tripp Dalton on “Days of Our Lives.” Will he win for scenes in which he vows revenge against those responsible for his mother’s death?
Adams’s 15 minutes worth of scenes actually include two storylines. In one he’s suspicious of Kate (Lauren Koslow) when she comes asking for a cell phone belonging to Theo, who has just been shot. She may be trying to access the phone to delete evidence of illegal activity she doesn’t want exposed. Tripp reluctantly hands over the phone, and even tricks Theo’s girlfriend into revealing Theo’s password.

The second set of images were for X-Men Origins: Wolverine and they feature tattoo designs for The Blob/Fred J. Dukes (Kevin Durand) and other mutant characters. He's back. A hero for our millennium. Superman Returns deleted opening scene video have premiered. Brandon Routh stars in the Superman Returns (2006) deleted opening scene video. The scene showcases Superman visiting planet Krypton and after Lex Luther (Kevin Spacey) and his henchman Stanford (Kal Penn) trick Superman into believing there still may be life on the planet. I read about this omitted plot point years ago and I am surprised I remember it.
This scene is included in the eight-disc Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology. The anthology includes Superman: The Original Theatrical Movie (1978) and Expanded Edition (2001), Superman II (1980 and The Richard Donner Cut), Superman III Theatrical Version (1983), Superman IV The Quest For Peace Theatrical Version (1987), and Superman Returns (2006).
