“These are not your textbook zombies. These are cursed zombies, awakened to complete a task given to them.” The fight between the living and the risen dead continues in Tommy Wirkola’s Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead. The new trailer shows Martin once again fighting Colonel Herzog’s Nazi zombies, but this time he has to deal with a possessed arm reminiscent of Ash’s infected hand from Evil Dead 2.

In the wilderness of Norway, a battle between medical students and Nazi zombies resulted in a lot of lost limbs and bloody carnage. The fight between the living and the dead continues in Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, writer/director Tommy Wirkola’s sequel to his blood-drenched 2009 zombie feature. The movie’s new poster offers a warning of a headless horror to come.
“They’re not just zombies. They’re Nazi zombies.
And there’s a lot of them. On the orders of a rotten Führer, the zombies from Dead Snow return to settle old German scores. In the continuation of the epic splatterfest from 2009, Martin, the sole survivor of the first movie, prove that there’s more badass shit in Northern Norway than even Nazi zombies would be prepared for. The table is set for a massive revenge epic, where blood, guts, brains and throats are not the...

As the Icelandic Film Fund is battling proposed government cuts of 40% for 2014, a group of filmmakers has signed a statement of support for the Icelandic industry.
The supporters include Clint Eastwood, Darren Aronofsky and Terrence Malick, whose films Flags of Our Fathers, Noah and Tree Of Life have all shot partially in Iceland.
As Screen previously reported, more than 200 jobs could be lost because of the proposed cuts. In its 2014 budget, the Icelandic government is proposing a 40% cut to the Icelandic Film Fund, the organisation that supports Icelandic filmmaking through screenwriting, development and production grants. This is the second time in recent years that the Icelandic government has planned to deliver such a blow to local industry — In 2010 the government had proposed a 35% cut to the fund, but eventually enacted 25%.
The second round of budget talks will be held on Dec 13 (Friday) with the final bill to be voted on next week.

After having a solid enough box office (if not exactly a critical) success with his English-language debut "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters," "Dead Snow" filmmaker Tommy Wirkola is reteaming with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company Gary Sanchez to develop a half-hour series at Showtime. According to Deadline, the untitled project is a dark comedy based on "Hellfjord," a TV series Wirkola created, wrote and produced in his native Norway with Kjetil Omberg, Terje Strømstad and Stig Frode Henriksen. The seven-part "Hellfjord" screened at Fantastic Fest last year, where programmer Todd Brown described it as falling "into the sweet spot between 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Twin Peaks.'" Exclusive: After collaborating on Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, the movie’s writer/director Tommy Wirkola and production company Gary Sanchez are reteaming, this time on the TV side. Norwegian filmmaker Wirkola and Gary Sanchez’s Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have set up a half-hour project at Showtime. The untitled dark comedy, now in development, is based on the 2012 Norwegian half-hour series, Hellfjord, which Wirkola created and produced with his partners Kjetil Omberg, Terje Strømstad and Stig Frode Henriksen through their Tappeluft Pictures. Wirkola, Henriksen, and Zahid Ali, the writers on the original seven-episode series, will also write the Showtime adaptation. Wirkola will direct the potential pilot and will executive produce with Ferrell and McKay. Described as in the vein of Hot Fuzz and Twin Peaks with a Nordic noir twist, Hellfjord centers on a disgraced Oslo police officer (Ali) who, after a freak horse accident, is banished to serve...
