Exclusive: Chanya Button’s debut feature getting theatrical release in UK via Verve Pictures. Director also talks new projects.
Chanya Button’s debut feature Burn Burn Burn has been acquired by Netflix for global VoD rights.
Verve Pictures will release the film in the UK on Oct 28 at about 20 cinemas across the UK, and the film will then launch on Netflix UK in early 2017.
Everyman Cinemas is working with the film to do a special tour of event screenings featuring Q&As with the likes of Button and cast members Chloe Pirrie, Laura Carmichael, Jack Farthing and Joe Dempsie. Those screenings include Oct 25 at Screen on the Green, Oct 29 in Harrogate, Oct 30 in Bristol, Nov 1 in Esher and Nov 2 at Kings Cross.

Film4 has received a total of 41 nominations for the films it has backed at this year.s British Independent Film Awards, including six for Justin Kurzel's Macbeth.
Macbeth is in contention for best British independent film, best director, lead actor Michael Fassbender, lead actress Marion Cotillard, support actor Sean Harris and cinematographer Adam Arkapaw.

Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Lobster topped this year’s Moet British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) nominations, which were presented in London this morning (Nov 3) by Gemma Chan and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
The film garnered seven nods including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Producer of the Year.

The road trip comedy is in post-production after a five-week shoot last autumn, with world sales handled by Paris-based sales agent Urban Distribution International (Udi). Udi will screen a teaser at the Efm in Berlin from next week. Urban Distribution will handle in France.

Downton Abbey actress Laura Carmichael and Chloe Pirrie (Shell), a Screen Star of Tomorrow and Bafta Breakthrough Brit in 2013, are set to co-star as two friends who travel across Britain to scatter the ashes of their late best friend Dan.
Other cast members include Alison Steadman and Nigel Planer.
The women take turns driving with Dan in the glove compartment, in a tupperware container, decreasing in volume as the trip progresses.

Shooting has just commenced in Dunstable on Mark Abraham’s Peterman, which follows the story of a young junkie (Joe Cole) who is kidnapped by a criminal gang and forced to crack open a safe using skills taught to him by the gang’s former ‘Peterman’ (safe cracker), his deceased grandfather (Phil Davis). Alison Steadman, Peter Bowles, Brian McCardie, Kenny Doughty, Stuart Graham and Adam Nagaitis also feature.
The crime film is based on the screenplay by Andy Bloom and is produced by Control Films and Talent Films with Darren Pratt and Tim Phillips acting as producer and Tony Humphreys executive producing.

Animal Defenders International (Adi) is calling for the end of use of wild animals in traveling circuses. The proposed ban comes after a semi-truck pulling a trailer of four elephants on Sunday night ran off Interstate 10 in south Mississippi. Three of the elephants, which belong to Cole Brothers Circus of the Stars, were unloaded while the trailer was unhooked from the damaged truck. Kurt Necaise, the incident commander for West Hancock County Fire and Rescue, said the fourth was too angry to unload.
