Young Sheldon’s antepenultimate episode featured a surplus of callbacks and Big Bang Theory Easter eggs — from Sheldon beginning his ritual of knocking three times before he enters a room, to Missy alluding to Sheldon finding a “smart, weird girlfriend” out in California, to which Sheldon scoffed, “I have a girlfriend and her name is Science.”
There was also a plethora of returning characters, including King Kong Comics patron Nate (played by theme song composer/performer Steve Burns), Medford High faculty members Mr. Givens (Brian Stepanek) and Ms. Hitchens (Sarah Baker) and — last but not least — Sheldon’s childhood bestie...

Spoiler Alert: The following interview discusses events from the “Young Sheldon” episode “A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture,” streaming on Paramount+ as of May 10.
We knew it was going to happen — since it was foretold on “The Big Bang Theory” — but that didn’t make it any easier to say goodbye to one of “Young Sheldon’s” original cast members. In the final moments in the second of two episodes airing back-to-back on May 9, the Cooper family received word that curmudgeon patriarch George Cooper (Lance Barber) had died of a heart attack.
The fate of George dying at this point in Sheldon Cooper’s journey does goes back to the “The Big Bang Theory,” on which we learned that adult Sheldon lost his father at the age of 14. That’s the current age of prodigy Sheldon (Iain Armitage) in the prequel series, and while producers had said this...

The Big Bang Theory, a comedy sitcom about a group of scientist friends that deal with their love life and career achievements throughout the whole series, came to its end back in 2019 with a seemingly good turn of events for every main character.
And while most of them indeed showed up on the peak of their life in all aspects, one particular character’s storyline still seems to have been unfinished.
In the show’s finale Sheldon and Amy are a happy couple that receives the Nobel Prize in Physics after having worked together on super asymmetry, Leonard and Penny are expecting their first child and Howard also happily lives with Bernadette and their two children.
The only one that can’t really boast of anything significant is Rajesh Koothrappalli, in the series portrayed by Kunal Nayyar.

It looks like CBS canceling Young Sheldon didn’t just frustrate the show’s fans. It seems that it also took many of the cast members by surprise. Annie Potts, who plays Meemaw on Young Sheldon, said the cancelation “ambushed” the entire and she calls it a “stupid business move.”

Fans are disappointed that CBS canceled Young Sheldon despite its continued popularity and high ratings. Even some cast members have spoken out about the show ending, even though the Big Bang Theory universe will continue with a different spin-off. However, there is some exciting news about the finale.
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will return as the adult Sheldon Cooper and his wife Amy Farrah Fowler in the series finale. Here is what you need to know.
Jim Parsons & Mayim Bialik Coming To Young Sheldon Finale
It might seem hard to believe, but neither Jim Parsons nor Mayim Bialik have ever appeared in person on Young Sheldon. Parsons has done the narration throughout the series, so he has been a part of it. However, he never appeared on camera as Sheldon in the series. Likewise, Bialik had some voice-over work on the show, but also never appeared as Amy on camera.

Reba McEntire‘s June Ballard was a fan favorite during her guest appearance on Young Sheldon, and many viewers are hoping the Queen of Country will reprise her role for the final season. She has another [sitcom] pilot that she’s shooting…so I just don’t know if it’s going to work out.” The pilot Holland referenced is a new NBC multi-camera comedy that will see McEntire reunite with Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel, and Mindy Schultheis, all executive producers on her early 2000s sitcom Reba. With viewership that peaked at nearly 14 million an episode, Young Sheldon is one of the most successful sitcoms in recent memory.
And the show is spun off from The Big Bang Theory, which, despite never gaining a foothold with critics, was one of the most-watched sitcoms of all time, serving as CBS' biggest hit for much its 12-season run.
So it comes as no surprise that yet another Sheldon-verse spinoff will be coming to CBS in the very near future.
What is somewhat surprising, however, is the fact that some of the franchise's biggest stars will be reprising their roles for the upcoming Young Sheldon series finale.
It was announced this week that both Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will be returning to CBS as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler.
Parsons is an executive producer on Young Sheldon, and he's been narrating the series since its first episode.

Shamy fans rejoice! Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles from The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Lee Cooper, and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler, respectively, for the series finale of the Young Sheldon prequel series! Think again if we can share details about the couple’s reunion! The powers that be are keeping that business under wraps. Will they feature in a time skip? Does Young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) invent a time machine? The mystery remains.
The couple last appeared in the May 2019 series finale of The Big Bang Theory, which included a surprisingly emotional moment of self-reflection by Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper during a Nobel Prize acceptance speech. While Young Sheldon is beloved by Big Bang Theory fans, a reunion with Sheldon and Amy will surely gain significant attention for the forthcoming finale.

It wasn’t surprising when news broke that CBS was ending Young Sheldon last year.
Sheldon (Iain Armitage) is growing up and is slowly but surely getting to the age we know he leaves his family behind to follow his dreams.
With the season well underway — and a big death on the horizon — CBS is already plotting an extension of the franchise.
This week, the network went straight-to-series on a sequel featuring Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their family in Texas.
The new series marks the fourth in the franchise after The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and an untitled spinoff at Max.
The series order means the network was confident enough to forego the traditional pilot order.

Bazinga again! “The Big Bang Theory” stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will guest star on the series finale of CBS’ “Young Sheldon,” reuniting as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler. Details of the episode, which airs Thursday, May 16, and how Parsons and Bialik will be incorporated into it, remains a secret.
Parsons, of course, has been a part of “Young Sheldon” from the beginning, serving as the show’s narrator and as one of its executive producers. Bialik has also been heard on two episodes of “Young Sheldon” as a guest voiceover. Another Big Bang Theory spinoff project is currently underway, and fans do not seem enthusiastic about it at all. As per CBS, it will focus on Sheldon Cooper’s older brother Georgie (Montana Jordan) and his partner, Mandy (Emily Osment).

Young Sheldon was a raging success, and it will soon end after seven successful seasons. This massive appreciation from fans was the catalyst for bringing another show that is cut from the same cloth.

Don’t worry: A series in the Big Bang Theory universe will be on CBS in the 2024-2025 season even though Young Sheldon is ending this spring. The network has officially ordered a new half-hour, multi-camera comedy starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment. (It was first reported to be in the works in January.) This sequel, created by the producing team behind the first two shows in the franchise, Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, follows Young Sheldon’s Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage. “From the Big Bang Theory to Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us,” said Lorre, Molaro, and Holland in a statement. “We’re very excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy.” Added Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment,...

The Big Bang Theory-verse is officially expanding as CBS on Tuesday greenlighted a new half-hour, multi-camera comedy series starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment for broadcast in the 2024-2025 season.
Created by the producing team behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon — Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland — the sequel series follows Young Sheldon’s Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.
Deadline reported in January that the spinoff was in the works as the two leads were working on their deals. Additional notes included Lorre, Molaro and Holland’s history with the franchise as all three have worked on The Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon (or both simultaneously) since the launch of the mothership series, which Lorre co-created, in 2007. Molaro ran Bbt for years before teaming with Lorre to co-create...

As is appropriate for a franchise that started with The Big Bang Theory, its universe keeps expanding.
CBS has formally ordered a spinoff of Young Sheldon — itself a Big Bang prequel — that will focus on Georgie (Montana Jordan), Sheldon’s older brother, and his fiancée, Mandy (Emily Osment), as they raise their young family in Texas. The project has been in the works since January, and a straight-to-series order was expected after deals closed.
Young Sheldon executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland will continue in their roles on the new series, which will be part of CBS’ 2024-25 slate. Warner Bros. TV, Lorre’s longtime home, is producing.
The pickup of the spinoff — which will be a multicamera show, unlike the single-camera Young Sheldon — will also assure that Lorre has a series on CBS for a 22nd straight season, dating back to the debut of Two and a Half Men...

After getting lost in Germany, Young Sheldon is heading home.
While it wasn’t explicitly stated during Thursday’s locomotive-themed installment, Season 7, Episode 3 of the Big Bang Theory prequel marked the end of Sheldon and Mary’s summer in Heidelberg. The passage of time was slyly indicated via George Sr. and Mary’s letters, which each took approximately 10 days to get from Texas to Germany, and vice versa.

If TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek is any indication, Thursday’s Young Sheldon (CBS, 8/7c) will prove the hypothesis that distance makes the heart grow fonder.
Mary (Zoe Perry) remains in Heidelberg with Sheldon in Season 7, Episode 3 — and long-distance calls are awfully expensive for the working-class Coopers. So, George Sr. (Lance Barber) decides write his wife a letter, just like he did while he was stationed in Vietnam. (Romantic, ain’t it?)

Will Meemaw’s expansion of the casino business send Georgie running toward the nearest exit — and toward his future as a successful tire salesman?
It was previously established during Season 11 of The Big Bang Theory that Young Sheldon’s older brother goes on to own and operate a successful chain of tire stores. What followed was a Season 2 episode of the ‘90s-set prequel that saw 14-year-old Georgie work at Herschel Sparks’ repair shop and discover his affinity an tires. Keep reading to find out more…
The show’s executive producer Steve Holland shared with Deadline, “There are certain things we know happen in Sheldon’s life at 14. We started talking about the future of show, and what it looked like. This is the right time for this story to come to an end, knowing that at 14, he goes off to Cal Tech. It felt like the right time to end it strong while it was on top.”

It feels like only yesterday that The Big Bang Theory wrapped up its impressive run.
In a few short months, the origins of Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) will be over when we watch the series finale of the spinoff, Young Sheldon.
Thanks to our knowledge of the original series, what has to happen in the final season is inevitable, and now it’s official.
The hit comedy will kill off George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber) before the show takes its curtain call.
In a new interview with TV Line, series EP Steve Holland wouldn’t elaborate on how the death will play out but stressed that it will “get addressed.”
Holland acknowledged that the prequel doesn’t have to be “beholden to every joke” from the original series, but the show is “beholden to the larger canon and the larger events that shape Sheldon’s life.”

Young Sheldon might be ending, but CBS isn’t saying goodbye to the Cooper family entirely. The network is reportedly developing a spinoff series focused on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie and his fiancée, Mandy.
‘Young Sheldon’ spinoff will focus on Georgie and Mandy (L-r) Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper and Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister in ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 7 | Sonja Flemming/CBS ©2023 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
According to TVLine, the Young Sheldon spinoff will focus on Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment). The unlikely couple recently welcomed their daughter, Constance, and then got engaged in the season 6 finale.
CBS is apparently close to a direct-to-series order for the new show. It will likely be a multi-camera sitcom taped before a live studio audience. Jordan and Osment are expected to star. However, there’s no word yet on whether other Young Sheldon cast members will appear.

It appears The Big Bang Theory franchise may continue to live on beyond its prequel spinoff Young Sheldon as a new spinoff of the current series centering around Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment) is reportedly being developed at CBS. According to Variety, a deal for a direct-to-series order for the spinoff is near. Unlike Young Sheldon though, this spinoff would deviate from a single-camera comedy into a multi-camera comedy, more on par with The Big Bang Theory. (Credit: Bill Inoshita / 2023 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. ) Both Jordan and Osment are in talks to reprise their roles. Young Sheldon tells the story of a young Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, Georgie is the titular character’s older brother and...
