- Congressional correspondent for CNN in the Washington, D.C. bureau. Previously worked as a general assignment correspondent for CNN in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, worked at CNN Newsource as a national correspondent, also in Washington, D.C.
- Started in television news as an intern and production assistant at KTVU Channel 2 in Oakland, California. In 2001, went to work as a general assignment reporter at KIMA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Yakima, Washington. During that same time, also worked in radio as a morning show personality and weekend news reader.
- In 2003, moved to New York to be an anchor, reporter and producer for CBS News on mtvU, a newscast that aired on MTV's college network.
- Was also a freelance reporter for CBS Evening News Weekend Edition before moving over to CNN.
- Graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a dual Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Mass Communication, in 2001. While there, she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, an honor society for the liberal arts and science.
- Moved to the United States in 1982 and grew up in the Orange County city of Mission Viejo, California. She attended Mission Viejo High School, where she was elected homecoming queen in her senior year, and graduated in 1998.
- Gave birth to son Antonio Allen Martinez Lujan on June 8, 2018.
