Bob Odenkirk is ready to, as he puts it, “get his ass handed to him.” The Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star is reteaming with Derek Kolstad, screenwriter on 2021’s Nobody, on a new action film, Normal, which is among the hottest projects being shopped to buyers at the European Film Market in chilly Berlin this week (by WME Independent).
Ben Wheatley (Meg 2: The Trench, Free Fire) is on board to direct the film, which will star Odenkirk as Ulysses, a temporary sheriff in the sleepy rust belt town of Normal who gets caught up in a deep criminal conspiracy. Kolstad, who also penned the John Wick franchise, will produce together with Odenkirk and Normal producer Marc Provissiero, with Josh Adler from Circle of Confusion as executive producer.
Nobody transformed Odenkirk into an unlikely action star, playing Hutch Mansell, a humdrum family man with a secret past as a professional assassin.

Bob Odenkirk’s career has taken a unique path. Although he started in the comedy world, he would take his already-acclaimed career to new heights when he played Saul Goodman on the immensely popular series, Breaking Bad. And while shows like that and Better Call Saul still played on his comedy strengths, Odenkirk would go for something different when he starred in the action film, Nobody, which came from the writer and stunt crew who brought us John Wick.
According to Deadline, Odenkirk is set to work with Nobody screenwriter Derek Kolstad again on a new project that is going to be helmed by Free Fire and High Rise director Ben Wheatley. The film is titled Normal and “follows Ulysses (Odenkirk), who is thrust into the temporary role of the sheriff for the small sleepy town Normal after the previous one’s untimely death. The script, written by Kolstad, follows Ulysses (Odenkirk), who is thrust into the temporary role of the sheriff for the small sleepy town Normal after the previous one’s untimely death. Bob Odenkirk is re-teaming with Nobody writer Derek Kolstad on Normal, a crime thriller in which the Better Call Saul star will again take on the unlikely role of action hero.

The series, which marked Odenkirk’s follow-up after Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, wrapped its eight-episode run in May and has been on the bubble during the writers and actors strikes.

The Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment offices are easy to miss, insomuch as you wouldn’t expect that the offices for the management-production outfit responsible for careers like Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu’s and films like this summer’s R-rated hit No Hard Feelings, starring Jennifer Lawrence, to be housed in a circa 1920s Los Angeles craftsman — the kind that Zillow dreams are made of. It makes more sense when you realize that the offices are around the corner from the Upright Citizens Brigade, the city’s go-to improv theater.

In Sony’s new comedy No Hard Feelings, Jennifer Lawrence’s 32-year-old character is hired by a couple of helicopter parents to “date” their 19-year-old son, played by Andrew Barth Feldman.
Yes, in both the ad the parents post on Craigslist and in the awkward in-person meeting of Lawrence’s Maddie with the mother and father played by Laura Benanti and Matthew Broderick, date, in quotes, appears to be a euphemism.
“Do you mean date him or date him?” Maddie pointedly asks when she meets the parents.
“Date him hard,” Broderick’s Laird blurts out.
“I’ll date his brains out,” Maddie chimes in.
It’s this initial premise, included in the film’s trailer and based on a real ad from a decade ago unearthed by the film’s producers and shared with writer-director Gene Stupnitsky, that has sparked a social media backlash to what seems like a creepy concept,...

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence just goes for it in the raunchy, R-rated trailer for No Hard Feelings. Lawrence desccribes Gene Stupnitsky (Good Boys) and John Phillips’ script as the funniest she’s ever read, and it’s obvious in her performance that she was all-in on the physical comedy and playing a woman who seduces a 19-year-old virgin.
“I guess I like cringe humor,” said Lawrence in an interview with EW. “I do like the idea of comedy that makes people uncomfortable. I love when people are watching through their hands, through their fingers. Nothing makes me happier. And I love a lot of the stuff that Harold Ramis did, his movies.”
In addition to Jennifer Lawrence, the comedy stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Hasan Minhaj, and Matthew Broderick. Lawrence, Alex Saks, Naomi Odenkirk, Marc Provissiero, and Justine Ciarrocchi produced, with Kerry Orent and John Phillips executive producing.

Late last year, Jennifer Lawrence had returned to her indie roots as she starred in an intimate character drama titled Causeway, which dealt with grief, forgiveness, acceptance, and moving on. Lawrence will be venturing into lighter-hearted material, still meant for mature audiences, but in a different manner. She is starring in the raunchy comedy, No Hard Feelings. The title is a double entendre, which plays on the concept of her character being hired to take the V-card of a socially awkward college-bound teen by his concerned parents.
The comedy comes from Gene Stupnitsky, who had co-wrote 2011’s Bad Teacher and 2009’s Year One. He recently helmed Good Boys, which was a shake-up of an American Pie-esque movie, only this time involving younger boys, and their ultimate goal was to kiss a girl. Here, Stupnitsky once again plays with conventions in a script he co-wrote with John Phillips, who had produced...

An Uber driver without a car, Jennifer Lawrence finds herself financially stuck in a new trailer for the R-rated comedy “No Hard Feelings.” That is, until a wealthy couple offers her a Buick Regal if she agrees to “date” their awkward 19-year-old son before he goes off to college.

In the trailer, Lawrence frantically circles a high school party in search of Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), barging into bedrooms only to find teenagers sitting on their phones. “Doesn’t anyone fuck anymore?” she asks, stupefied.

Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence recently shared that she “died laughing” when reading the real-life Craigslist ad that inspired her upcoming raunchy R-rated comedy ‘No Hard Feelings’. Jennifer Lawrence is looking to acquire a car by any means necessary in the first trailer for Sony’s upcoming comedy No Hard Feelings.
In the footage that dropped Thursday ahead of the film’s June 23 theatrical release, Lawrence plays Maddie, a down-on-her-luck Uber driver who loses her vehicle. In a turn of desperation, she responds to an ad placed by a couple looking for someone to date their shy 19-year-old son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), before he heads to Princeton in the fall.
The trailer shows Maddie trying to loosen Percy up by encouraging him to drink and skinny-dip. But her efforts clearly don’t go as planned, as he accidentally injures Maddie more than once.
“This kid is unfuckable,” Lawrence’s character laments.
During a night out at a classy restaurant, Maddie offers Percy wisdom about not feeling pressured to impress others. “The best part about getting older...

After Jennifer Lawrence returned to her indie roots with the intimate character drama Causeway, the actress is now venturing into much lighter material with the raunchy comedy, No Hard Feelings. The film’s plot was generally under wraps, but Sony has now released the trailer that reveals the zany nature that would give the movie a firm seat next to comedies like American Pie and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Variety reports on the new red band trailer that gives us all the dirty goodness.
The trailer shows Lawrence as a promiscuous Uber driver named Maddie, who is on the verge of losing her house, and her means of transportation was just towed. In desperation, she answers a Craigslist ad from wealthy parents who are looking to help pry their son, Percy, out of his shell just before he goes to college. Jennifer Lawrence shows off her comedic chops in the new trailer for “No Hard Feelings,” the comedy from Columbia Pictures and “Good Boys” director Gene Stupnitsky.
The Oscar winner stars as Maddie, a woman on the brink of losing her childhood home if she doesn’t find a way to make money, fast. Out of desperation, she’s hired by a pair of helicopter parents to “date” their socially awkward 19-year-old son, Percy (Andrew Feldman), before sending him off to college.
The red band trailer begins with Maddie’s messy predicament: she wakes up one morning to find her car getting towed by a previous fling (“The Bear” and “Girls” star Ebon Moss-Bachrach) while another one-night stand is still inside. As an Uber driver without a car, she knows she’s in serious trouble.
Luckily, her friend (Natalie Morales) stumbles upon an online ad that reads, “Need a car? Date...

Sony has released the first trailer for the raunchy comedy “No Hard Feelings,” in which Jennifer Lawrence plays a woman who answers two helicopter parents’ Craigslist ad to sleep with their sheltered 19-year-old son before he goes to college.
The very R-rated trailer opens with Lawrence’s character Maddie approaching the awkward Percy at a dog adoption center, asking “Mind if I touch your wiener?” before revealing he’s holding a Dachshund wiener dog. On the brink of losing her childhood home, Maddie resorts to every last-ditch effort to fulfill the parents’ questionable request and sleep with Percy. She skinny dips, plies him with Long Island ice tea and, in one hilarious scene, kidnaps him in a van before getting pepper sprayed in the face.

Slippin’ Jimmy slipped his way back onto AMC. Less than a year after closing out the saga of Saul Goodman on “Breaking Bad” prequel “Better Call Saul,” Bob Odenkirk is back on the channel for new series “Lucky Hank,” and the first full-length trailer for the college-set show dropped this Wednesday.
Alongside the trailer, AMC Networks also revealed that the series’ debut episode will also air on BBC America, IFC, and SundanceTV, in addition to AMC and its streamer AMC+.
Based on the 1997 novel “Straight Man” by Richard Russo, best known for the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Empire Falls,” “Lucky Hank” has a similar premise to 2021’s Netflix series “The Chair,” which starred Sandra Oh as the stressed-out chair of a college’s English department. Odenkirk takes on the role of William Henry Devereaux Jr., the English department chair at Railton College, a poorly funded university in the Pennsylvania rust belt.

Better Call Saul may be done, but Bob Odenkirk is returning to AMC very soon.
AMC Networks announced today that Lucky Hank will debut across four of its linear networks, with BBC America, IFC, and SundanceTV joining AMC and AMC+ for a multi-network premiere event on Sunday, March 19 at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt.
Lucky Hank is a mid-life crisis tale set at Railton College, told in the first person by William Henry "Hank" Devereaux, Jr., the unlikely chairman of the English department in a badly underfunded college in a working-class American town.
Hank's discontent is rooted in unresolved issues with his father, a mediocre and entitled student body, and in the fact that his department is more savagely divided than the Balkans.
Mireille Enos stars as Lily Devereaux, the emotionally grounded, unflappable wife of Hank and the Vice Principal of the local high school in rural Pennsylvania where they live.

After bouncing back from a heart attack and putting a bow on his multi-award-winning series Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk is tackling his next project at AMC, Lucky Hank. Initially titled Straight Man, Lucky Hank stars Odenkirk as a college professor in the throes of a mid-life crisis. AMC dropped a Lucky Hank teaser trailer on Tuesday featuring Odenkirk in a salt-and-pepper beard, spectacles, and scowl that could send students running for the hills.
In the Lucky Hank teaser trailer, Odenkirk’s William Henry Deveraux Jr. explains he’s “always been a difficult man,” who specializes in minor strife and irritation. As the camera zooms in on Odenkirk’s face, the corner of his lip curls in disgust as he contemplates his mediocre existence. William Henry Deveraux Jr. is the chairman of the English department in an underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt, a state filled with individuals who are used to disappointment.

This post contains spoilers for the series finale of "Better Call Saul."
The character of Saul Goodman is one that's defined the career of Bob Odenkirk since first taking on the role in the second season of "Breaking Bad." Saul was such a popular character that after the show ended its critically acclaimed five-season run, AMC announced the prequel/sequel series "Better Call Saul," with Odenkirk as the lead. When an actor spends much of their career with a single character, you'd think it would be hard to diversify work after that point. Odenkirk, however, found new and exciting ways to take his experience with a character like Saul into roles that were vastly different.
The most recent example is Odenkirk's character in the 2021 action film, "Nobody." The movie focuses on a retired assassin named Hutch, who lives a quiet and restrained life in the suburbs and springs back into...

National treasure Bob Odenkirk isn't saying goodbye to AMC after the completion of "Better Call Saul," as his next project, "Straight Man," is well into production. Many assumed Odenkirk would take a step back from the acting world after he endured a heart attack, but you can't keep a Goodman down. He thankfully recovered after the massive scare and now ol' Bob is back, bearded, and better than ever.
The new dramedy series is based on the Richard Russo novel of the same name, with Odenkirk starring as William Henry Devereaux Jr., aka "Hank," the unlikely interim chairman of the English department at a fictional Pennsylvania university while he experiences a mid-life crisis. "Straight Man" is currently filming and looking at a 2023 premiere with an 8-episode first season, which means we're still a ways away from a trailer, but here's everything we know so far about the new series.

Exclusive: American Housewife alum Diedrich Bader, Sara Amini (Future Man), Cedric Yarbrough (Carol’s Second Act) and Suzanne Cryer (Silicon Valley) are set as series regulars opposite Bob Odenkirk, Mireille Enos and Olivia Scott Welch in Straight Man, AMC’s series adaptation of Richard Russo’s novel, from former The Killing writer-producer Aaron Zelman and The Office alum Paul Lieberstein.
In the dramedy, from TriStar TV, William Henry Devereaux Jr. (Odenkirk) is the unlikely and reluctant chairman of the English department in an underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt. His discontent is rooted in unresolved issues with his father, a mediocre and entitled student body, and in the fact that his department is more savagely divided than the Balkans.
Bader will play Tony Conigula, a philosophy professor at Railton and Hank’s closest friend. After the failure of his first marriage, Tony has fully committed to the life of a Bachelor.
