Humanity’s most invaluable asset is our memory. It fuels our imagination, ignites conversations, and can unite us. It can also be distorted, reshaped, and forgotten altogether. Marjorie Prime, a micro-scale sci-fi chamber drama, fascinatingly explores the perception and dissolution of what we remember throughout our lives. Michael Almereyda’s contemplative new film, which could double as the best-written episode of Black Mirror yet, most poignantly serves as catalyst for a personal self-reflection on the part of the viewer.
Adapted by Almereyda himself from Jordan Harrison’s play, it opens on the 86-year-old Marjorie (Lois Smith) — presumably around the year 2050, based on a pop-culture calculation courtesy of My Best Friend’s Wedding — talking to a man on her couch (Jon Hamm). With his cold, calculated manner of response, we soon learn he’s actually a hologram of her late husband. (Think the most advanced version of Alexa.) Presumably purchased by her child,...

Arcade Fire and James Murphy work on the intricacies of "Afterlife" in the latest preview of the band's upcoming documentary, The Reflektor Tapes, which chronicles the making of their last album, Reflektor, and subsequent world tour.
The short clip arrives via Arcade Fire Tube and blends studio and live footage, fittingly opening with a perfect combination of the two: The vocal-only tracks of the song's call-and-response section playing while frontman Win Butler performs the same part live. In the actual studio footage, the band can be seen performing parts of...

It seems like just yesterday that rumors of a new Sufjan Stevens Christmas album were but a few sleigh bells' jingling in the distance. But before long, the great bringer of indie-folk cheer had announced that Silver And Gold: Songs For Christmas, Volumes 6-10 (featuring guests like the Dessner Brothers and Richard Reed Perry) would indeed be released Nov. 13. And now, Santa Stevens has deigned to place all of America under his mistletoe with the announcement of dates for his holiday tour. "The Surfjohn [sic] Stevens Christmas Sing-a-Long: Seasonal Affective Disorder Yuletide Pageant On Ice" kicks off on Black ...

USA Today has unveiled two new pieces of artwork from Matt Fraction’s upcoming Fantastic Four and spinoff series, Ff. Joined by artists Mark Bagley and Mike Allred, these two new titles will be part of the upcoming Marvel Now! initiative. While we’re sure there are significant changes coming to both titles, we were totally taken off guard by, what appears to be, a brand new Future Foundation squad in Ff. From what we can see of the cover, it looks like Ant-Man, She-Hulk, Medusa and the brand new character, Miss Thing, will be leading the charge when the title arrives in November.
Joined by Ultimate Spider-Man co-creator Mark Bagley, Fraction’s Fantastic Four will take Richard Reed’s family on a road trip for an “epic historical lesson” across time and space. The story arc is planned to unfold over the course of a year in which the...

Would you buy a used car from Saul Goodman?
Okay, how about from Bob Odenkirk, the actor who plays the shadiest lawyer on the planet on "Breaking Bad?" The Black Keys seem to think you would, which might explain why they dressed Odenkirk up in the cheapest-looking polyester suit they could find and hired him to help hawk their upcoming Danger Mouse-produced album, El Camino.
Odenkirk does his damndest to get the right car in the frame during the fake one-minute ad allegedly shot in December 1996, but all he succeeds in doing is creating one of the best viral video album spots in recent memory.
The fake ad campaign is the weapon of choice for a lot of artists these days, with Eminem taking the lead in the game by employing the tactic on both his comeback 2009 Relapse album and the multi-platinum 2010 follow-up, Recovery.
