Radiating pure euphoric rave energy, guised duo The Stickmen Project release atmospheric number ‘I Wish I Was’ into the electronic ether. Prepare for an other-worldly experience on the dancefloor as The Stickmen Project delve into an ultra-modern soundscape that is custom-made for futuristic ravers.
An ethereal female vocal enters into the electromagnetic field of immense production, softly guiding the solemn lyrics and addictive melody of ‘I Wish I Was.’ Whimsical synth tones build slowly underneath, causing spine-tingling tension in each build, capable of being released only by a deep permeating bass line. ‘I Wish I Was’ is carefully crafted with its live presence in mind. Whilst there are louder, more boisterous rave tracks on the circuit, that’s not the purpose of ‘I Wish I Was.’ This the late-night drop catches you off-guard mid set, uncontrollably surrendering you to the present moment and leaving you completely transfixed.

Independent dance label Armada Music, founded in 2003 by Dutch trance DJ and producer Armin van Buuren, Maykel Piron and manager and agent David Lewis, said Tuesday that its investment vehicle Beat Music Fund has acquired Amsterdam-based music publisher Cloud 9 Music, bolstering its publishing division.
Cloud 9’s roster includes the likes of U.S. house music veteran Green Velvet, aka Curtis Jones, aka Cajmere, South Africa’s That Girl, and Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell.

Miami’s Ultra Music Festival was forced to cut its opening day festivities short Friday as severe weather swept into the area.
Even before the festival opened Friday, organizers warned attendees that they were anticipating rain in the forecast, and recommended that they bring ponchos and raincoats. By nightfall, however, the rain arrived with both strong winds and lightning, forcing organizers to “temporarily” shut down the festival at Miami’s Bayfront Park.

How does dance music sensation John Summit pregame his set at one of Las Vegas’ most popular nightclubs the Friday before the Super Bowl? Laying in bed, eating an airport sandwich.
But just because he’s horizontal doesn’t mean he’s unproductive. In fact, he’s spending his time cooking up something new that could be house music’s next smash hit — or at least a highlight of what his fans hear that night. “I try to make a new song for every set,” Summit, 29, says. “I usually make...

I’ve been listening to Armin van Buuren for around 20 years. Every Thursday evening tuning into his A State of Trance radio show – smashing out the latest in Trance and Progressive every single week. Armin has risen to become one of the world’s most well-known DJ’s, every year features very highly (usually in the top 5) in DJ Mag’s poll.
Armin’s tour schedule is gruelling, travelling the world to the biggest festivals and largest events and bringing joy to hundreds of thousands of revellers at every single one. It’s fair to say I’m a die-hard fan, I’ve seen him in London numerous times and my first international trip to Amsterdam to attend his ‘This is Me: Feel Again’ event. The event was originally scheduled to take place in 2020 but with the rise of Covid the event had to keep being pushed back but it...

Walker’s catalog has clocked 400 million global streams, with a flurry of singles charting in the U.S. and Canada. Walker adds to that catalog with this dance-fueld heartbreak anthem as his first release of 2023. Towards the end of last year, Ella embarked on her first headline tour in seven years. Spanning seven dates across October ‘22, the tour kicks off in Newcastle on October 15th, followed by shows in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Oxford and Cardiff, concluding at London’s prestigious O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

Okay, sure — an Edm remix of Van Halen’s synth-rock classic “Jump” sounds pretty horrendous in theory. Hear me out, though! Dutch trance god Armin van Buuren’s sleek, rave-ready revamp of the 1983 hit is an absolute winner. We can only hope it leads to more glowstick-ready remixes of classic rock monsters.

Dnce’s “Cake by the Ocean” will take on new meaning later this month as Steve Aoki joins the Hakkasan group in saying “Vamos a la playa!” Omnia, the Las Vegas megaclub inside Caesar’s Palace, is opening a year-round beachside dayclub in Cabo San Lucas, with the cake-tossing Dim Mak label chief bringing a few A-list producers to the opening weekend fiestas. While Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Kaskade, Illenium and Armin van Buuren are among the names that have made Omnia a temple of Edm in Vegas, the new outpost south of the border will be less bombastic by servicing daylife and dining,...

Edc 2017: Inside Dance Music’s Mecca With Drake, Rezz, Diplo, Alison Wonderland and Lil Jon (Photos)
The 21st Electric Daisy Carnival, the largest dance music festival in North America, took place outside Las Vegas this weekend. Costumes, neon, and bass drops were expected. Drake (center), was not. The Kinetic Field main stage was rebuilt from scratch this year, dubbed “Kinetic Gaia”. Illuminating the intersection of nature and technology, the most popular and mainstream artists like Tiesto, Dillon Francis, Hardwell, and trance legend Armin Van Buuren played here. One totem-toting fan in the crowd at Metro Boomin’s midnight set on Sunday must have been tipped off about the rap royalty about to appear. “(Metro Boomin) brought me to space.

Ultra Music Festival once again took over Miami’s Bayfront Park last weekend, delivering a solid three days of non-stop music curated by a host of world renowned DJs and performers. Sporting a lineup with a little bit of something for everybody, Ultra 2017 was definitely another memorable entry for the long running festival brand.
The main stage was graced by all the usual superstar DJs, with sets from Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Major Lazer, DJ Snake, Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, and Axwell /\ Ingrosso, to name a handful.
The production on the main stage was impressive to say the least, with a dazzling array of Led visuals, water features and pyrotechnics so lit I had to check and make sure my eyebrows were still in tact at one point. The custom stage design Ultra uses on the mainstage is the festival’s calling card by now, but it’s...

After announcing back in August that an upcoming album under his side project Gaia is in the works, Armin van Buuren is back to deliver some new material. For his new single, the trance legend and Ørjan Nilsen are lighting it up with their latest collaboration, a high octane dancefloor anthem titled “Flashlight.”
“Flashlight” ranks as a scorcher of a house track with a production fit for the mainstage, as Armin van Buuren and Ørjan Nilsen offer up a barrage of meticulously crafted synths set to a high energy backdrop. The song kicks off with an electrifying synth sequence layered over a cacophony of four on the floor drum patterns. The two producers then break down the energy with an ethereal section driven by wiggly leads and cascading chords, leading into a heady drop with glistening melodies and overlapping rhythms.

Update: The full list has been revealed and can be seen below.
Original Post: With the Amsterdam Dance Event now underway, it’s time for the DJ Mag Top 100 to be revealed. As much of a joke as the list has become lately, we all still look forward to it each and every year and though it doesn’t hold too much legitimacy in the eyes of true dance music fans, it’s always interesting to see who ends up coming out on top.
Leaks and rumors have pointed to Martin Garrix emerging as #1 for 2016, something which would certainly make sense given the huge year he’s had. Not to mention he’s also been releasing new tracks left, right and centre this week. With the awards show now streaming live from the Heineken Music Hall, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we figure out whether or not...

Amy Schumer is many things — funny, smart, and fearless — but now she can be described with one more adjective: dangerous. Schumer topped the 10th annual list of most dangerous celebrities online, compiled by Intel Security. Armin van Buuren dropped a major announcement during his stint at UK based festival Creamfields over the weekend. During a live Q&A session, the Embrace producer revealed that he will be releasing a new album under his trance sideproject Gaia with Benno de Goeij of Rank 1.
Gaia made a splash in 2014 with their Ultra Music Festival debut, which saw the duo deliver a celebrated set for trance purists, while performing in ominous hooded robes. The duo had previously revisited the project earlier in the year with “Inyathi,” but have been relatively quiet on the release front.
Throughout the Q&A, Armin van Buuren takes to Facebook from a laptop backstage at the festival to answer a series of candid questions, though he doesn’t make any more substantial revelations than the Gaia update. You can watch the full video below, and skip forward to around 9:40 for the question regarding Gaia.

The height of the festival season is upon us, as today marks the beginning of Tomorrowland 2016. The Boom, Belgium festival has been a beacon of electronic music culture since its 2005 inception – but even if you have to miss this year’s edition, you can catch some of its biggest performances by livestreaming them through Tomorrowland TV.
Armin Van Buuren, Nicky Romero, Tiësto and The Chainsmokers are but a few of the artists you can watch play the event from anywhere with internet connection. For our money, though, Eric Prydz and deadmau5′ live set will likely be the best one all year. They’re scheduled to perform from 3:25 to 5:00 Am Cet (7:25 to 9:00 Pst), but unfortunately the Tomorrowland TV program on the festival’s website doesn’t currently reflect that any sets from the Mau5trap/Pryda stage will be livestreamed.

Andrew Rayel has taken on the title track from Armin van Buuren’s 2015 studio album Embrace, delivering an energetic remix that follows up on re-imaginings from Arty and Lowland. Rayel takes creative license with Buuren’s original here, delivering a mix with the mainstage in mind.
The producer makes some considerable changes in his remix, deviating from the source material to deliver a big room flip of “Embrace.” The classical styled arpeggios from Avb’s version are replaced with stuttering synth phrases and high octane house beats. The familiar trumpet driven breakdown resurfaces in this new take, too, building up to a rhythmic crescendo with massive rave chords and blistering percussion.
Andrew Rayel‘s “Embrace” remix has plenty of new sounds to keep things interesting while still remaining friendly to the trance-going audiences. Overall, the big room production meshes well with the original melodies, while still elevating the energy to epic proportions.

Armin van Buuren has announced this week that he will be releasing a new mini-album titled Old Skool that will recreate classic dance hits with a modern spin. The project was announced on his A State Of Trance radio show, and will follow up his most recent studio album Embrace from last year.
The first taste of the upcoming mini-album comes in the form of the 1991 rave classic “Dominator” by Human Resource. A video clip has surfaced to detail the behind the scenes creation of Avb’s re-imagining of the classic dance hit, revealing that the Dutch producer got permission from the track’s creators before deciding to release it. His version gives “Dominator” an updated production with modern sound design while still retaining the vintage rave vibes.
Armin van Buuren has also updated a number of other classic releases for Old Skool, including Speedy J’s “Pull Over” and Quadrophonia’s self-titled anthem.

I’ve been a little hard on the last couple of tracks that Arty put out, but only because I knew he was capable of more. The Russian DJ/producer has now proven me right by delivering a remix of Armin Van Buuren’s “Embrace” that sees him ride the line between trance and progressive house as effectively as ever.
“Embrace” was the title track of Van Buuren’s most recent album, and featured its most notable instrumentals as trumpet samples contributed by Eric Vloeimans accompanied its somber synth melodies. Arty’s remix synthesizes these elements into a more traditional framework, but his expert ear for sound design makes it stand out among similar songs on the market.
Arty assured us that he had more music coming down the pipeline, and if it’s anything like this then we won’t write him off as a sellout quite yet.
