CSI producers Louis Shaw Milito and Phil Conserva have launched their own independent production company and have set up their first projects after striking a first-look deal with book-to-film firm Vesuvian Media Group.
The pair, who have spent 15 years working on the CBS procedural, have established Boilermaker Entertainment. Shaw Milito has been an exec producer and director on the series, while Conserva has been a producer and director as well as music industry liaison. The pair previously ran Rhino Pictures, which produced Cuban Chrome, the first American series to be filmed entirely on location in Cuba, for the Discovery Channel.
Boilermaker has struck a first-look deal with Vmg to develop and produce Vesuvian’s extensive library of titles across all genres. Vmg works with authors including Jonas Saul, Beneath the Lighthouse author Julieanne Lynch and The Lake Series’ AnnaLisa Grant.

The Fox network is developing a one-hour scripted drama series project set in the world of Kentucky bourbon.
"Hell On Wheels" producer Bruce Romans and New Wave Entertainment are behind the project which follows the self-made patriarch of a Kentucky bourbon empire and his family.
When he has a public breakdown and his sordid past is revealed, his children must overcome their differences to try and save their family and business.
Romans will pen the pilot script and executive produce, while Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont and Matt Ochacher will executive produce.

APA has upped agents Barry McPherson and Josh Humiston to partner.
The pair joins Jim Gosnell, Lee Dinstman, David Saunders, Troy Blakely, Steve Lassiter, Ryan Martin and Matt Ochacher as agency partners.
McPherson, whose roster includes Josh Cooke, Jorge Garcia, Will Sasso, Gary Dourdan, Crispin Glover, Bruce Campbell, Tony winner Viola Davis, Tichina Arnold, Christine Ebersole, Beverly Mitchell, Ron Perlman and John Rhys Davies, will remain vp talent and oversee the agency's New York theater department. Humiston will stay in APA's modern-rock department and work with the agency's music roster, which includes Fleetwood Mac, Lenny Kravitz and Robert Plant.
"Barry and Josh show where hard work will get you in this business," APA president and CEO Jim Gosnell said. He added that the promotions "help us achieve our goals as an agency and further our position in this business."
