Executive producer Ed Seaman and Mvd Entertainment Group have acquired punk rocker Gg Allin’s life and music rights, with Jonas Åkerlund attached to the direct the biopic film, titled “Gg Allin: Live. Fast. Die.”
Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan MonEord will produce along with Eric D. Wilkinson from a screenplay by Richard Schenkman.
Known as rock ‘n roll’s “outlaw scumfuc,” Gg Allin’s live shows were legendary for his outrageous antics. Kevin Michael Allin (born Jesus Christ Allin) adopted “Gg” as his stage persona, but the role took over his life. Descending into booze, drugs and schizophrenia, Gg tore through band mates, fans, and women, announcing that he would commit suicide on stage October 31st, 1991 – only to find himself in prison for assault on that date.

1091 Pictures has acquired worldwide digital rights to A Woman’s Work: The NFL’s Cheerleader Problem, a feature documentary directed and produced by Yu Gu, written and produced by Elizabeth Ai and co-produced by Jin Yoo-Kim. The film, which had its world premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, will be available to buy on platforms January 26, 2021, and rent February 2.
The doc follows Lacy, an Oakland Raiders cheerleader who sued the team in 2014 for wage theft, and Maria, a former cheerleader for the Buffalo Bills who filed a similar suit with three others, as they fight for fair compensation from the NFL amid a structure in which some cheerleaders are compensated at less than minimum wage, compared with the teams’ players, mascots and concession workers. In the process, they reveal a culture of toxic masculinity and the devaluation of women’s labor in society. The Raiders eventually settled their suit and increased their cheerleaders’ pay.

“Sci-fi For The Mind”
By Raymond Benson
Renowned science fiction writer Jerome Bixby produced many short stories in the genre, but he is perhaps most well-known for writing a handful of classic Star Trek episodes. The memorable original Twilight Zone entry, “It’s a Good Life,” was based on his short story, as was the same segment in The Twilight Zone—The Motion Picture (1983). Bixby was also responsible for the stories or scripts for sci-fi films such as Fantastic Voyage (1966), and It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958).
Bixby’s last work, allegedly completed on his deathbed in 1998, was the screenplay The Man from Earth. Nearly ten years later (2007), Bixby’s son Emerson helped bring it to the screen as producer. The low-budget feature was directed by Richard Schenkman and starred David Lee Smith as “John Oldman,” a man in the present day who has lived without aging for 14,000 years. That’s what the independent producers of “The Man From Earth: Holocene” concluded about the inevitable piracy of their sci-fi film, a sequel to the 2007 cult hit “The Man From Earth.”
More than two months before its April 3 release on digital and DVD, they uploaded it to The Pirate Bay — available in up to 1080p HD format — and it spread to other services. The video is book-ended by an appeal from director-producer Richard Schenkman to consider donating some money if they watched the movie. “If you like it, support it, and remember that sharing is caring,” reads the note they included with the digital versions they distributed on piracy networks.
Since “self-pirating” their movie on Jan. 15, according to Schenkman and producer Eric D. Wilkinson, they’ve received nearly $45,000 in donations via their site, manfromearth.com, from fans and supporters around the world including China,...

Eric D. Wilkinson, aspiring screenwriter and fervid Die Hard fan, spent thousands of dollars to send an open letter to Bruce Willis in a full-page Hollywood Reporter ad last month, pitching his idea for a Die Hard sequel. No surprise, Wilkinson's idea for a Die Hard sequel isn't gonna happen; very surprisingly, he did get a deal to write a different movie. According to The Guardian:Wilkinson and his writing partner Richard Schenkman have since agreed a deal with La-based Eclectic Pictures, which has a first-look arrangement with Lerner’s Millennium Films. The company has now optioned their high-concept screenplay The Devil, about the mythical flying creature said to have terrorised residents of southern New Jersey for centuries, for an unspecified sum. Wilkinson commented, “Richard and I have developed many ideas together but this is one of my favourites. Forget what you think you know about the Jersey Devil — ours is...

Here's another fascinating Hollywood success story that could only happen once. Last month, screenwriter Eric D. Wilkinson spent his savings and took out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter with an open letter and his pitch for the next Die Hard sequel. That bold move attracted enough attention that he now has a first-look deal with producer Avi Lerner (The Expendables) through third party Eclectic Pictures (Lovelace), according to The Guardian. Lerner may not be associated with the Die Hard franchise, but he did make the White House-set Die Hard wannabe Olympus Has Fallen. Surprisingly, though, it's not another one of that oft-copied mold that Wilkinson will now be working on. After Lerner reached out looking for more ideas, Wilkinson and his writing...

Oh, how things can change in a month. Last month a mostly unknown screenwriter named Eric D. Wilkinson spent money he probably didn.t have to take out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter. The ad was actually a movie pitch. He was trying to get the attention of the people behind the potential Die Hard prequel, because he had an idea he thought would work. We absolutely loved the idea here and it looks like we weren.t the only ones. While we.re still waiting to see what happens with the Die Hard series, Wilkinson and his writing partner just got one of his scripts optioned as a direct result of the ad. The project is called The Devil and is a modern action/horror take on the urban legend of the Jersey Devil. The story will focus on a fraternity who is engaged in a "hell...

Bruce Willis has a few words regarding Eric D. Wilkinson's uniquely-pitched Die Hard idea. In the Nov. 20 issue of The Hollywood Reporter, the indie film producer and writer took out a full-page ad to pitch his plot suggestion for the action series' sixth installment, after Fox announced that the near-immortal NYPD cop John McClane would return for a prequel called Die Hard: Year One. Anyone who picks up a print copy of The Hollywood Reporter this week will be treated to a surprise: a full-page ad (see below) from Die Hard fan Eric D. Wilkinson pitching his idea for the upcoming sixth Die Hard movie. (It involves a murder case from the '70s, a handful of terrorists, and John McClain getting wrongfully imprisoned.) Now, Gawker has caught up with Wilkinson, an indie-film vet who produced the well-regarded Man From Earth, and who, it turns out, is very chill about the idea that he's spent all that money for nothing. "I’m not going to hear from them," he admits. "My chances are slim to none." So, why did he waste an unknown, but presumably very large, amount of his savings on the ad? "I’m a fan. I’m no different from anybody else that sits behind their computer and sounds off ideas for good movies.

John McClane cannot be killed, and the same goes for the "Die Hard" franchise. Even though the series is circling the bowl creatively, going through the motions with barely any inspiration the last time out with "A Good Day To Die Hard," Fox is determined to continue. And thus, "Die Hard 6" has been developing for a while now, and has morphed into "Die Hard: Year One," a prequel that will take audiences back to the '70s to learn about young John McClane. It's a concept that already has the thumbs up from Bruce Willis. But most agree, it's not what anybody wants to see from a "Die Hard" movie, but screenwriter Eric D. Wilkinson is doing everything he can to get some eyeballs on his pitch for the movie. Eric D. Wilkinson, whose biggest film credit to date is a probably as a producer on the comedy spoof "Paranormal Movie,...

Almost anyone who saw the 2007 film The Man From Earth was struck by just how powerful that low budget sci-fi movie is. It was so low budget that it takes place almost entirely in one room with the characters just discussing the possibility of a man who never aged and the implications that might have on human history. I was as blown away by the film as anyone, so I was thrilled when I found out tonight that producer Eric D. Wilkinson and director/co-producer Richard Schenkman were putting together a Kickstarter campaign for a spin-off of the original film titled Man From Earth: The Series.
Now, it doesn’t take someone with the wisdom of 14,000 years to gather that title means that instead of a second film, this new project is going to be a series. The new plot picks up seven years after the original, when John is...

*there are spoilers here. Director: Richard Schenkman. Writers: Jesse Baget, Richard Schenkman and Eric D. Wilkinson. Cast: Ian Bamberg, Noell Coet, Adam C. Edwards, Stephanie Erb and Daniel Hugh Kelly. Director Richard Schenkman's name has come up a couple times this week on 28Dla. Schenkman is the writer behind another horror film titled Zombie Night (2013). His latest feature film from behind the camera is titled Mischief Night. This title was released on a few home entertainment formats on Mischief Night, October 30th, 2013. Sometimes called "Gate Night" or "Devil's Night," the night before Halloween is a time for pranks and misdeeds. In this film, Mischief Night is a time for murder! Unfortunately, in this film, the villains appear very silly, which weakens the conflict. The protagonist, on the other hand, is compelling and developed well, thanks to an interesting character arc. Though, Mischief Night offers the barest of thrills. The...

I’d never heard of The Man From Earth before the Kickstarter campaign for its sequel came across my desk. At first, I thought I was reading about a follow-up to Nicolas Roeg’s sci-fi classic starring David Bowie. What surprised me more was that none of my Fsr colleagues knew what it was, either. Yet this 2007 movie has a 7.9 rating on IMDb with nearly 82k votes. And not even enough reviews on Rotten Tomatoes to result in a score. The reason is that a lot of its fans discovered it through torrents, a fact that director Richard Schenkman and producer Eric D. Wilkinson admit they’re okay with considering the awareness and eventual success it brought to the film. Wondering if the sequel, The Man From Earth II: Millennium, would be worth promoting in this column, I watched the original this week. It’s streaming on Netflix if you’re interested. Scripted...

Is all illegal downloading bad for business? Perhaps, on paper. But it's the major reason director Richard Schenkman and producer Eric D. Wilkinson are readying a sequel to their 2007 film The Man From Earth — one of the few “viral” feature films. Photos: Where No One Can Hear You Scream: 18 Big-Screen Space Disasters Tuesday, Schenkman and Wilkinson launched a Kickstarter campaign for Man From Earth: Millennium, which follows the original film's lead character, John Oldman (David Lee Smith), a Cro-Magnon who managed to survive 14,000 years. Man From Earth was penned by the late science

In 2007 The Man From Earth took the internet by storm, introducing a mind-boggling, completely compelling, science fiction concept to an unexpectedly wide audience. It was writer Jerome Bixby’s final work, and the film wasn’t made until almost a decade after his death. Now, six years after the film’s release, the filmmakers are listening to the audience cries for more, and making a sequel, Man From Earth Millennium. To fund the sequel, they’ve followed the recent independent film trend and launched a Kickstarter campaign for the project.
The sequel is being made by the original’s director, Richard Schenkman, and produced again by Eric D. Wilkinson. The man from Earth himself, David Lee Smith, is returning as well to star in the film. The page doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but it does list the anticipated pre-production start date as November of this year with...
