Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen and shows us some of the runway looks they didn’t get the chance to use on the show. Following her episode 4 elimination, Mirage shares her thoughts on the value of “getting back up” after falling in pleasers and failing on the show. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Mirage explained the emotion she displayed when she was eliminated, calling it “a release” of everything that was built up to get on the show. Michelle showered Mirage with praise as a performer, especially as a contrast to how she presents out of drag and because of the “vogue femme” aspects of her dancing and heel clacking skills. Mirage shared that she is the sister of Anetra and has also worked with a lot of Ru...

When it came to this live, one-take challenge both Kahmora and Trixie think that the pressure of only having one take actually is a benefit for the queens because they have no opportunity to get in their head with their inner saboteur.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on January 26 with episode 4 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the 13 remaining queens appeared in the sketch comedy spoof “Rdr Live!” where they had to perform live for the judges in one take. “Untucked” takes place after the first group of queens are declared safe and the rest receive critiques from the judges.
As safe queens, both Morphine Love Dion and Dawn were relieved to survive a difficult comedy challenge, but were so happy with their performances that they thought they might have appeared among the top queens. Overall, the group knew that Q was among the top because she “turned it” as the brick during Weekend Update. Megami felt the same about Plane Jane‘s performance in their skit. [This story contains spoilers for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.]
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. has now brought two intriguing what-if scenarios to fruition.
In 2018’s Creed II, Caple Jr. pitted the sons of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) and Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) against each other, and while Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) emerged the victor, the audience still felt sympathy for the Drago family, which seemed all but impossible in Rocky IV (1985). Shortly after the release of Creed II, Paramount talked to Caple Jr. about potentially helming a sequel to Travis Knight’s Bumblebee (2018), but the Ohio native didn’t want to follow up a direct sequel with another direct sequel.
A year or so later, Caple and Paramount resumed talks and agreed on a new take that was influenced by the Transformers: Beast Wars animated storyline, introducing animal-like Transformers known as the Maximals, the planet-eating big bad, Unicron, and his henchmen,...

Amy Schumer says she always knew Pete Davidson would be a star.
The “Inside Amy Schumer” star is giving herself credit for giving Davidson his big break, paving the way for his success, by offering him a part in her 2015 film, “Trainwreck”. Davidson appears briefly in the film as a patient of Bill Hader‘s sports doctor character, giggling over getting injured while “really high.”
In an appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” on Thursday, Schumer was asked about her experience performing standup with Davidson long before he found success on “Saturday Night Live”.
“I do take full credit for Pete Davidson’s success,” Schumer joked, to which host Andy Cohen noted that Schumer gave him the role that introduced him to former “SNL” star Hader, who in turn recommended him to Lorne Michaels. The rest, as they say, is history.

Chicago – When it comes to bad movies there are three types … fun bad, memorably bad, and ordinary bad. “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” belongs in the latter category. It’s a clinking, clanking calamity that fails on almost every level, which is about par for the course when it comes to this series.

Set in 1994, this story operates as something of a prequel to the Michael Bay-directed original movies. The plot, such as it is, follows a small group of Autobots who must keep a MacGuffin – called the Transwarp Key – out of the hands from the Terricon minions of Omicron, a planet eating robot out to destroy all life. In addition to a pared down group of Autobots led by Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen), there’s now the Maximals. The Autobots are rolling out once again at the box office.
“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” picked up $8.8 million at the domestic box office in Thursday previews. It’s revving up to battle last week’s No. 1 movie, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” in its opening weekend.
Paramount’s “Rise of the Beasts” is looking to bring in $50 million to $60 million this weekend, but its box office wheels may get caught in the web of “Across the Spider-Verse,” which is aiming for $45 million to $55 million in its sophomore outing. Last week, Sony’s Spidey sequel opened with a massive $120 million.
The seventh entry in the long-running “Transformers” series, “Rise of the Beasts” is attempting to bounce back after the previous entry, the rebooted “Bumblebee” movie in 2018. The Hailee Steinfeld-led film earned $2.85 million in Thursday previews on its way to a franchise-low $21.6 million opening. Before that, 2017’s “Transformers: The Last Knight...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts triggers a frisson not uncommon to happily mindless franchise movies. It exudes the energy of talented filmmakers trying to wring something creative, unique, or, heaven forbid, human, from a generic template, or trying to sneak just a little bit of flavor into the boxed mix. This palpable effort makes Beasts watchable on a moment-to-moment basis. It has talented actors, Dominique Fishback and Anthony Ramos, doing their best to interact with green-screen concoctions. It has a sense of humor. It has a Nineties hip-hop soundtrack put...

The giant shape-shifting robots are back, in the seventh instalment in the live-action Transformers film series, this time without Michael Bay on board as director. The result is a significant improvement on the previous films, thanks to a script that includes an increased focus on character, dialogue and actual emotion, while still providing plenty of robo-carnage.
Technically both a sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee and a prequel to 2007’s Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set in 1994 and centres on three separate groups of shape-shifting robots. When it comes to the Transformers franchise, one tends to grade on a curve: “Well, this one wasn’t as bad as Revenge of the Fallen…” or “That one was a little better than Age of Extinction…” When at least four of the seven films in a franchise are all but unwatchable, damning with low expectations is where we end up.
With the seventh and latest film, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, one might say, “Well, it wasn’t as good as Bumblebee…” but in this case, that doesn’t instantly spell doom. Rise of the Beasts is easily the best movie in the main narrative since the original Transformers in 2007, for which this acts as a prequel of sorts (as well as a sequel to Bumblebee—the series is circling back on itself!). Ok, another Transformers movie. All the others (6 in total if you include Bumblebee) have been pretty solid fan favorites under the direction of uber-action director Michael Bay. I was expecting more of the same this time around…. but hang on, not so fast. This is different.
Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts is set in 1994, and for those keeping score, that’s a whole 8 years before the Bay-helmed Transformers: The Movie (2007). And because this installment is more like a prequel, it doesn’t have to worry about being a continuation of the same story. One of the more noticeable differences is that unlike the first film, the Transformers are not here to...

Plot: The fate of the Earth, and potentially hundreds of other planets, once again hangs in the balance when an alien beacon in NY grabs the attention of both Autobots and Decepticons to its location. The beacon can either send the Autobots to their home planet or summon the evil Unicron, and the Autobots will need the help of new human friends and the animalistic Maximals to ensure order and peace are once again restored.
Review: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a touch better than the other Transformers movies. An attempt to revive the Hasbro franchise is a careless fumble put together without a hint of effort or interest
During his tenure as chairman of the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, industrialist Lee Iacocca declared the small hunk of land off the coast of New Jersey a “symbol of reality” to Lady Liberty’s “symbol of hope”. A fitting gesture, then, that Ellis Island should be obliterated as collateral damage in the first hour of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, in light of its deafening disregard for anything in the general galaxy of real.
As obligatory human Noah Diaz stumbles through a cosmic clash between opposing hunks of dinged-up CGI, he briefly questions the need of alien robots to disguise themselves as Earth-faring vehicles. His perfectly valid thoughts are hand-waved away by Mirage – voiced by Pete Davidson, saying things like “yo!” – with the instruction not to worry about it.

At a certain point, watching a new “Transformers” movie becomes an exercise in expectation management. Since launching with a bang in 2007, the franchise first spearheaded by Michael Bay has spent 16 years sliding into a sludgy pit of CGI malaise many hold up as the epitome of Hollywood’s worst impulses. The well-received “Bumblebee” may be the exception that proves the rule. But in 2023 — when you have no one but yourself to blame for paying real, human money to a robot gorilla named Optimus Primal — it’s not unfair to wonder if the series has irreparably bottomed out.
Still, the temptation to let films like “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” off the hook via state-of-play victim blaming should be avoided. The Hasbro franchise has long benefitted from low expectations, but the latest entry doesn’t come close to a passing grade on the massive curve we’ve already agreed to score it on.

Ready to rollout? The action-packed trailer for Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts_, stepping into another franchise he loves and ready to make his own mark on it.
He caught up with Empire ahead of the trailer’s release to break down the machine-on-machine mayhem – teasing his bigger plans for Unicron, the relevance of the film’s ‘90s New York setting, the bonkers brew of influences that have come together to create fresh Autobot hero Mirage, and much more. Dive in.
Pure Maximalism
You could hardly accuse the Transformers movies of being lo-fi cinema – but Rise Of The Beasts looks set to be more Maximalist than ever. By which we mean, a new breed of ‘former is dropping in for this one called the Maximals – robots not exactly in disguise, but who can turn into animals. Leading them is the gorilla-shaped Optimus Primal, voiced (as he was in 2018 cartoon Power Of The Primes) by Ron Perlman.
