- John was Born in Oldham Lancashire to parents Alex and Renee Sessions, After leaving school at the age of 15 yrs old John worked in his fathers garage until the age of 17 when he left to join the Armed Forces, he serves as a Gunner/Driver with the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, after he left the forces he became an Entertainer, Vocalist, and toured the Cabaret Club Circuit in the Manchester Area, later to perform at large Cabaret Venues such as the "Golden Garter Club" "Talk of the North" "Talk of the Town" "Willows Variety Club" "Roxy Theatre" and various others, he also did Radio and Television, during his time as a vocalist he worked support with such big artists as "Shirley Bassey" "Roy Orbison" "Gene Pitney" "Les Dennis" and other well known artists, at one time he even used Cliff Richards personal band for a show in the hotel, whilst on the Cliff Richards Tour in Brussels, Belgium,
Later John broke into Acting and took the name Vance Dallas that was suggested by his agent, he did a lot of small parts and also played the part of the Drill Corporal in "Brideshead Revisited" for Granada Television, he also performed the part of Drill Instructor on the many extras, teaching them to March correctly, perform Foot Drill and Weapons Drill, which was no lean feat as none of the many extras knew how to march at all,
After his divorce, john changed his acting name to Johnny Lee Harris, this was an extension of his first name John, he adopted his sons name Lee, and his last name, his step fathers surname Harris. His last Television job (before he should have finished and gone on a World Cabaret Tour) was BBC Televisions "Fortunes of War" Produced by James Cellan Jones, and film in Egypt, Johnny once again taught all of the Military Drill complete with a dangerous "Fixed Bayonet Charge" using real bayonets, and charging through smoke in the Desert, miraculously there were no injuries. On return home to the UK, Johnny should have started a World Tour in Cabaret, but it was discovered that whilst filming in Egypt he had caught a virus, it was Viral Pneumonia, he was told that he would most probably never sing again. - John was put forward for a Bravery Award which he refused, Whilst on Tour as a Continental Coach Driver in Eshwega in East Germany, two of the passengers from the coach group wandered into a live Minefield that had not been cleared during preparations for dismantling of the Border Wall. Without hesitation John probed on his hands and knees for mines until he had cleared a path, he reached the two tourists, and brought them safely out of the danger area. The story was in most of the newspapers, He keeps one copy of the paper for a reminder of the time tourist never listened to the Safety Briefing on the Coach.
