Jeannie Mai has accused her estranged husband, Jeezy of domestic violence and child neglect. According to court documents obtained by DailyMail.com, Mai alleges that the rapper (real name Jay Wayne Jenkins) punched her in the face and called her a “wh***” three weeks after she gave birth to their daughter, Monaco, now 2. In another incident, the long-time co-host of The Real claims Jeezy pushed her down some steps. The filing also brings up concerns about their daughter’s welfare, with Mai claiming Monaco found a gun inside a Louis Vuitton handbag, which led to her removing the child from their Atlanta, Georgia, home. Another alleged incident happened on January 18, 2022, in Miami, just weeks after Monaco’s birth. Mai claims the couple were talking in a parked car when Jeezy asked the driver to leave and “began to berate” her. When she tried to escape, Jeezy allegedly hit her with...

When Beyoncé unveiled the American flag-bearing cover of her latest album, Act ii: Cowboy Carter, some heralded the imagery as a “reclamation” of the flag’s symbolism, while others pointed to its connection to Texas’ Black Cowboys and Rodeo culture. Others, however, saw the flag as a symbol of America’s history of racism and imperialism, particularly fraught with the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The sentiment trails the outrage stoked by her silence on “Break My Soul” being adopted as a war cry by pro-Idf Israelis in December.

As Jeezy noted before playing “And Then What” during his NPR Tiny Desk debut, he goes by a lot of names. There’s Jizzle, which he started going by around 2010. There’s also Bling (favored by the Fort Lauderdale crowd) and the two-for-one deal of Snow and Jeezy the Snowman. The most recent addition he tacked onto the list is the title of New York Times Bestseller. The rapper released his first book, Adversity for Sale, last year, but the lessons written in his memoir were in his music first.

Following in the footsteps of recent performances by Juvenile and Scarface, Atlanta trap pioneer Jeezy recently stopped by NPR for his own Tiny Desk Concert.
Backed by a full string section, Jeezy threw it back to his early career with hits from his classic album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, before closing out with his 2011 track “Everythang,” capping off the veteran rapper’s rags-to-riches journey.
Jeezy kicked off the six-song set with “Standing Ovation” before moving into other Thug Motivation 101 favorites like “Air Forces,” “Bottom of the Map,” “And Then What,” and “Go Crazy.” Before concluding his performance with “Everythang,” he delivered an uplifting message to the crowd.
“No matter what you going through, just show up and believe in yourself and keep pushing,” Jeezy said. “It’s never easy, but it’s great when you get on the other side of that.” He added, “Once you get on top,...

Rapper Roddy Ricch is the victor in a legal battle that claimed his highest-charting megahit “The Box” infringed on the copyright of a 1975 soul song titled “Come on Down.” In a biting ruling, a Manhattan-based federal judge found that “no reasonable jury could find that the works are substantially similar.”
“The (plaintiff’s) musical composition is a soul song that contains a melodic tune, while ‘The Box’ is a hip-hop song delivered in a monotone rap,” U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres wrote in her eight-page ruling obtained by Rolling Stone.

He tells Rolling Stone that his new album And Then You Pray For Me, the sequel to Pray For Paris coming on October 13th, came from a similar artistic rush he felt this year.
“I didn’t feel [inspiration] like that since Virgil invited me out there,” he says over the phone. “I wanted to record again. I got the studio and I started making the album.

Jeezy’s filing comes more than two years after he and former co-host of ‘The Real’ tied the knot.
Jeezy and Jeannie Mai‘s pending divorce stems from “different views.”
A source tells Et that the 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, and the former co-host of The Real weren’t on the same page when it came to “certain family values and expectations.”
“They had different views, and each felt like their needs weren’t being completely met,” the source explains.
Mai, 44, and Jeezy were first linked in January 2019, and a source confirmed their relationship to Et in April 2019. They made things Instagram official in September 2019. The couple went on to tie the knot during an intimate ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 27, 2021, before they welcomed their daughter, Monaco, in January 2022.
Jeezy is also a dad to three older children — Jadarius, Shyheim and Amra — from previous relationships.

There's something particularly profound about Mary J. Blige holding her Strength of a Woman festival in the heart of Black culture's mecca. This year, the queen of hip-hop soul returned to Atlanta from May 11-14 for her second annual "by us for us" event - an uplifting, fulfilling, and fun-filled experience that catered to every woman in attendance. And boy, did they have a time.
The best way to describe the Strength of a Woman festival is like a warm hug from your family matriarch, welcoming you with open arms for the most captivating weekend of your life. While there have been some comparisons from onlookers who see the festival as a mini Essence Fest, Blige's second iteration of her brainchild - in partnership with Pepsi and Live Nation Urban - is building its own unique identity. Fans of The Real watched Jeannie Mai and Jeezy’s love story. But some had reservations about their romance due to Mai’s past controversial statements about interracial dating. Seales, who is also considered overly critical at times by some, didn’t take much offense to Mai’s remarks for a specific reason.
