Film is based on book by Isa Hoes about her relationship with actor Antonie Kamerling, who died in 2010.
Dutch outfit Dfw International is to begin sales at the European Film Market on drama Broken, based on the book When I Saw You by Isa Hoes.
It tells of the relationship between Hoes and Antonie Kamerling, a well-known actor and singer in the Netherlands who suffered from severe depression and who died in 2010.
The film, directed by Ben Verbong and starring Egbert-Jan Weeber and Noortje Herlaar, will be released in the Netherlands by Dfw’s parent company Dutch FilmWorks on 100 screens in early March.

Tagliafico has defended his actions and those of his teammates, suggesting such scenes can happen again.
"Those situations happen in the world of football; we are not machines. The emotions were running high.
"It has happened in previous matches. It will likely happen again. This was a World Cup quarterfinal, with two teams fighting it out," he added.
Argentina face Croatia in the first World Cup semifinal on Tuesday, after overcoming the Netherlands on penalties.
The Copa America champions led 2-0 at Lusail Stadium yet were pegged back to a 2-2 draw by Wout Weghorst’s double.
But Emiliano Martinez’s saves paved the way for Lautaro Martinez to score the winning penalty in the shoot-out and send Argentina through to the last four.
The match was not without controversy. Some of Argentina’s players celebrated wildly in front of the Netherlands squad, while there were tussles on the touchline...

Doha (Qatar), Dec 12 (Ians) They are numbers that would make a football ‘purist’ such as Pep Guardiola break out into a cold sweat, or have former Spain coach, Luis Enrique trembling in his bed, but if there is one thing the current World Cup in Qatar is showing, it is that possession of the ball is not everything in football.
Maybe ‘tiki-taka’ isn’t dead (although it is badly wounded in Spain), but the World Cup is most definitely making a very solid case for the defense.
Morocco aren’t fooling anyone after rugged defensive displays against Spain and Portugal have earned them a historic semifinal tie against France.
The Moroccan side had just 23 percent of the ball against Spain and just 22 percent in their 1-0 quarterfinal win against Portugal. The story is a little different from the group stage, where they had less than 35 percent of the ball against...

Doha, Dec 10 (Ians) Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal said that he had left a good legacy for Dutch football at the end of his third time in charge of the national team.
Van Gaal’s third reign ended after a penalty shootout after his side came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with two late goals from Wout Weghorst before Argentina came through the shootout after Emiliano Martinez made two saves.
“I will not be continuing as a coach as I was only doing this for a limited period of time, so this is my last game,” he said, reports Xinhua. “What I’m leaving behind is an excellent group, personally and in terms of football, this is a very close team with a great spirit and a lot of skill. I was in charge for 20 games and we didn’t lose in that time — that’s for a reason.

Doha, Dec 4 (Ians) Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni said his team was already turning its focus to a “beautiful” World Cup quarterfinal against the Netherlands after a thrilling 2-1 win over Australia on Saturday.
Scaloni said Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal would be the main drawing cards in Friday’s clash at Lusail stadium.
“It’s a real honour to come up against a coach like Van Gaal,” he said. “We have a beautiful match ahead of us with two icons of the sport.”

Doha, Dec 4 (Ians) Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal asked for improvement from his side but insisted they can also win the World Cup after beating the USA 3-1 in their last-16 game on Saturday.
The Netherlands became the first side to qualify for the quarterfinals with goals from Memphis Depay, Daley Blind and Denzel Dumfries, who was also voted Player of the Match after giving assists in the first two goals. However, the ever-demanding coach insisted his players had to improve, Xinhua news agency reported.
“I was very critical in my halftime analysis,” commented Van Gaal.
“In the first half, they (USA) dispossessed us so much, and that is not acceptable. You can’t accept that if you play top level teams. We did better in the second half, even though there were fewer goals.”

Doha (Qatar), Dec 2 (Ians) The knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup gets underway on Saturday with two ties in the last 16 as the Netherlands face the USA, while Argentina take on Australia.
The tournament moves to a moment where any error can be fatal and where the added drama of extra time and penalties can come into play.
The USA are facing doubt over captain Christian Pulisic with a pelvic injury that he suffered in their 1-0 win against Iran on Tuesday night. The Chelsea forward would be a significant loss to the USA, where he has played in a more central role than for his club.
The Netherlands have Memphis Depay fully fit, while Cody Gakpo goes into the match after scoring in each of the three group matches.

Doha (Qatar), Dec 1 (Ians) USA coach Gregg Berhalter confirmed on Thursday that forward Christian Pulisic is a doubt for his country’s last-16 clash with the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup on Saturday.
The Chelsea player, who netted the winning goal against Iran to book the USA’s place in the knockout stage of the World Cup, suffered a pelvic injury in the game and his condition is being monitored ahead of the match.
Berhalter admitted the Americans will be underdogs in the match against the Dutch, but he insisted that would only serve as greater motivation.
“It’s a great opportunity, but we are going into it thinking it is an honour,” said the coach, who believes his players have worked to get where they are now.

Doha, Nov 26 (Ians) The Netherlands remained in contention for making it to the next stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022 here, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by South American side Ecuador at the Khalifa International Stadium here on Friday.
The draw meant that Qatar, who had earlier in the day lost to Senegal, crashed out in the first round, becoming the first host country failing to advance to the knockout rounds of the World Cup in recent times.
The Netherlands made a blazing start in Doha when Cody Gakpo fizzed an unstoppable sixth-minute 18-yard shot beyond Hernan Galindez in Ecuador’s goal to give the Oranje a 1-0 lead. This is the fastest goal of this championship.
However, Enner Valencia, Ecuador’s biggest star, scored his third goal in two matches in Qatar to level scores just into the second half (49th minute). The two teams remained locked...

Doha, Nov 25 (Ians) Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal has urged his players to beware of the threat posed by a “stable” and “shrewd” Ecuador as the teams prepare to meet in Group A of the FIFA World Cup
The Netherlands will enter the late Friday match at Khalifa International stadium in Doha after a 2-0 defeat of Senegal in their opening match on Monday. Ecuador have had a day longer to prepare, having beaten hosts Qatar 2-0 on Sunday.
“They (Ecuador) are a stable team,” van Gaal told a news conference, reports Xinhua. “They’re physically strong with very clever players, shrewd players, which is why I believe that they are tougher than Senegal.”

Doha, Nov 22 (Ians) Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal admitted he was not entirely satisfied after his team produced a late burst to beat Senegal 2-0 in their FIFA World Cup Group A match on Monday.
The Netherlands dominated for long stages of the first half but lacked a cutting edge in the final third at the Thumama Stadium. Senegal had several clear scoring chances in the second half before Cody Gakpo and Davy Klaassen struck in the last 15 minutes for the Dutch.
“It was an efficient victory,” Van Gaal told a post-match press conference. “We played the first half with poor decision-making when carrying the ball. But we still created five chances. In the second half the match was more balanced … (but) I was quite calm because I always had the feeling we would score.”

Doha, Nov 21 (Ians) Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal has sounded a battle cry ahead of his side’s debut in the 2022 World Cup finals later on Monday, saying he believes his team can lift the title that has always eluded them.
The Dutch were runners-up to Germany in 1974 and to Argentina in 1978. They were beaten by Andres Iniesta’s injury time goal for Spain in South Africa in 2010.
Van Gaal led the Dutch to third place in the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, with a team that included players such as Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie and Wesley Sneijder, but in his press conference ahead of Monday’s game against Senegal, the coach insisted his current side is better, reports Xinhua.
This Netherlands team is led by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and also includes Fc Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt.

The former Netherlands international recently gave his World Cup predictions to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. He predicted the South American giants will beat Portugal in the final at Lusail Stadium on December 18.
The former Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers midfielder is also tipping his country to have a strong campaign by claiming third place. He sees Louis van Gaal’s side winning Group A, ahead of Africa Cup of Nations holders, Senegal.
“As a Dutch guy, I was quite pleased with the draw, and I think the team can be happy with this group as well,” said de Boer.

Rio de Janeiro, Nov 8 (Ians) What is a seemingly innocuous World Cup opening phase for the Netherlands promises to be one of trials and tribulations for Senegal, Ecuador and hosts Qatar. While the Oranje are tipped by many to breeze through their first three fixtures, much less is expected of their Group A rivals.
Senegal have not progressed to the knockout rounds since 2002. Ecuador last did it in 2006. Qatar have never done so as they make their first World Cup appearance. The Netherlands will be determined to reassert themselves on football’s biggest stage after their absence from the 2018 tournament in Russia.
Here is a Xinhua’s breakdown of the four teams in Group A, which kicks off on November 20 when Qatar and Ecuador meet in Al Khor.
The Netherlands
Having failed to qualify for the 2016 European Championship and the 2018 World Cup, the Netherlands are back among Europe’s elite.

Louis Van Gaal’s time at Manchester United appears to be coming to a close.
After David Moyes struggled to maintain the high standards set by Sir Alex Ferguson, who built the Manchester United Kingdom from the ground up, Van Gaal was given the chance to sit in the throne and bring glory back to Old Trafford. However, it just has not worked out for Lvg.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss has had success across Europe, but has failed to claim any silverware on English shores, with only the Fa Cup left to play for this season.
Van Gaal did manage to get Manchester United back in the Champions League after slipping out for a year under Moyes, but they did not manage to get past the group stage despite having what appeared to be a relatively easy group for a club like Manchester United.

It hasn’t exactly been the biggest transfer window for Manchester United: the biggest news so far has been the removal of perceived toxic influence Victor Valdes on loan to Standard Liege. The lack of incoming players has been a frustration, particularly in light of the criticisms of United’s tactics and current playing style, and it’s hard not to think that there was more business to be done this winter.
The reality is that United’s squad simply isn’t good enough or strong enough in depth to have made a title challenge a real possibility, but there are still players currently on the books who Louis Van Gaal should still be looking to move on, if only to change things up.

Just when it looked as though under-pressure Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal had survived the miserable winless month of December and his side were set to be reborn in 2016 as genuine title contenders, he watched helpless from the sidelines as his team reverted to type.
A toothless, gutless display from what was once the greatest team in the land saw them have just one shot on target – at home – before Southampton debutant Charlie Austin sprang from the bench to show Old Trafford what a goal looks like. The game was far too similiar to too many games this season. Van Gaal’s charges were slow, uninspired, bereft of ideas and seemed frightened to try anything even close to creative. The panache and flair of the Fergie days seem long gone at Old Trafford, and the blame for that lies at the door of only one man – the manager.

The panache and flair of the Fergie days seem long gone at Old Trafford, and the blame for that lies at the door of only one man – the manager.

In football these days it’s not unusual for someone who had no success on the pitch to be a genius in the dugout. Many of the most successful managers in the modern game barely know how to kick a ball. Sir Alex Ferguson may have had a modestly successful career as a striker but the likes of Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, Louis van Gaal and Roy Hodgson achieved nothing in the game before turning to management.
Why is that so many world class managers never played a high level, while so many world class players can’t seem to manage their way out of a paper bag? We may never know the reason, but maybe we can study the most egregious examples of managerial laughing stocks to find out why these legendary players failed so badly at management.

Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly entered a three-way battle with AC Milan for the services of Ajax Amsterdam starlet Anwar El Ghazi.
The Italians are ready to kick the bidding off for the youngster with an £8 million offer, according to the Express.
But Milan’s initial approach is expected to kick off a bidding war with the Premier League giants for El Ghazi, who has earned two senior caps for his country.
United boss Louis van Gaal has hinted that he wants to recruit on the wing this transfer window, and 20-year-old fits the bill.
“I said on September 1 that I think we have a better balance in our selection,” he said back in November. “And I suspected we would do better than last year.

Paul Dummett’s 90th minute deflected strike rescued a point for Newcastle, who are now within one point of 18th placed Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League relegation battle.
Wayne Rooney’s controversial penalty and Jesse Lingard’s neat finish put Man Utd 2-0 up on the night. However, the home side battled back thanks to an instinctive finish from Georginio Wijnaldum followed up by an Aleksandar Mitrovic spot kick.
Rooney’s second looked to have won it for Louis van Gaal’s side but Dummett salvaged the draw with what should be the best goal of his career.
The point, and three goals, represents a huge improvement for Steve McClaren’s men who had lost their previous four games by one goal to nil. It also represents an upturn in fortunes for Manchester United somewhat. Even though they surrendered a two-goal lead, they managed to...

Manchester United are reportedly planning to table a big-money summer bid for Everton’s in-form striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Red Devils are ready to shell out £40 million on the Belgian international at the end of the season, according to The Mirror.
United boss Louis Van Gaal is said to have named Lukaku on a lengthy summer shopping list, which also includes the likes of Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, Barcelona’s Neymar and Sadio Mane of Southampton.
Lukaku, 22, has been in scintillating form for Everton this season, netting 15 times in the Premier League, a figure that makes him the joint-leading goalscorer along with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.
Goals have been a problem for United all season, with Van Gaal’s side managing just just 24 in 20 league games.
Lukaku is Everton’s record signing, having joined the club for £28 million from Chelsea in 2014 following a successful loan stint at Goodison Park.

Manchester United are thought to be stepping up their hunt for Real Madrid centre back Sergio Ramos, and are eyeing up a bid for the Spaniard this summer, according to a report from news.ladbrokes.com.
The Red Devils came close to signing Ramos last year, but saw their deal fall flat as he signed a new contract with Real. The 29 year old would certainly cost Louis van Gaal and co. a pretty penny, with reports suggesting a price tag of between £44m and £59m.
According to Ladbrokes, Ramos’ agent has indicated that his client is likely to join whichever club Pep Guardiola is in charge of at the time. The current Bayern Munich boss has recently expressed a desire to manage in England next season, and with Louis van Gaal under immense pressure, he could well find himself in the Old Trafford hot-seat for 2016/17.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has missed training for Dortmund amid rumours that he could be imminently moving to Manchester United.
The 26-year-old has racked up an astonishing 24 goals in 23 games for Bvb, and while he still has plenty of time left on his contract, Aubameyang’s form has caught the attention of a host of top clubs, including United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
A Dortmund spokesman said the Gabonese international star missed the session due to ‘personal reasons’ and while that may be the case, speculation is rife at this time of year.
There’s no question Aubameyang would improve Manchester United’s stagnating frontline. Anthony Martial has looked the sharpest with 8 goals in 23 games, but Wayne Rooney’s form and Louis Van Gaal’s tactics have been heavily criticised throughout the season.
United will face heavy competition from other sides for the striker, but arguably the biggest challenge...

Manchester United are preparing to table a £75 million bid for Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale, according to the Mirror.
Louis van Gaal’s side are reportedly hoping that the recent axing of Rafael Benitez is a change of circumstances tempting enough to lure Bale away from the Bernabeu. However, new Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has publicly stated that the Welshman is not for sale.
There’s little doubt that the Red Devils are in need of a new attacking spark, having suffered numerous accusations of boring play from supporters and pundits alike. Even kit manufacturers Adidas have recently commented on van Gaal’s footballing philosophy, a spokesperson telling Suddeutsche Zeitung ‘We are satisfied, even if the actual way of playing of United is not exactly what we want to see’ (via BBC).

Most of the talk surrounding Manchester United’s transfer window activity has centred on who they might be bringing in, but now speculation turns to who might leave, with reports in Italy suggesting Marouane Fellaini could be headed for the Old Trafford exit.
Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera (via Sky Sports) are reporting that the Belgian midfielder is a target for AC Milan, with either a permanent deal or a loan for the remainder of the season.
Fellaini hasn’t had the easiest of times at Manchester United since his deadline day move from Everton back in September 2013, with the man who brought him to the club – David Moyes – being sacked, and replacement Louis van Gaal using him as something of a desperation striking option, drawing fans’ ire for the use of long-ball football when he’s deployed as a makeshift ‘number 9’.

Football Manager 2016 will once again present fans of the game with a whole new database of talented free-agents and if you choose to give them a home they could repay your faith with a string of gut-busting performances that make their former clubs regret letting them leave.
This year’s Bosman list is brimming with potential and offers a wide range of experience, positions and nationalities ready for you to throw a contract at. The day that Faustino Asprilla single-handedly destroyed Barcelona lives long in the memory of Newcastle United fans. The match turned the bendy-legged Columbian into a cult hero despite him only scoring two goals in 10 games throughout the rest of the 1997-98 season.
Asprilla who did score an impressive nine goals in eleven European matches was sold back to Parma at the end of the season for £6 million but his performance on Wednesday, September 17th, 1997, will never be forgotten. Barcelona – who were managed by Louis van Gaal and won the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Super Cup titles that season – couldn’t handle ‘Tino’s’ sublime skills and his 22-minute hat-trick was the perfect reward for an exceptional night at St James’ Park.
Asprilla scored after 26, 30 and 48 minutes. The first was a penalty he won himself, the others headers from excellent crosses by a rejuvenated Keith Gillespie.

Manchester United could make a deadline day purchase of Bayer Leverkusen’s Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Turkish media.
The reports state that a €36 million fee has already been agreed and that the deal is on the verge of being completed.
If a deal is going to happen then Man United will have to move swiftly as the English transfer window is set to shut in less than four hours.
The 21-year-old has been likened to Brazilian midfielder Juninho Pernambucano for his free kick taking ability, and the Leverkusen man has been touted as a future star.
The playmaker has reached double figures in terms of goals in his last three full seasons and could offer Louis van Gaal an excellent attacking option, playing as a number ten or a central midfielder.

Transfer Deadline Day is here and for the next few hours there will be an inundation of flimsy transfer speculation, blue, white and red ticker bars and an obstreperous Jim White. Luckily for Manchester United fans, David de Gea’s name may not be mentioned by the aforementioned three as much as once imagined with the news that his proposed move to Real Madrid has collapsed due to ‘paperwork issues’ (wink, wink).
What a relief. The Red Devils now have a keeper who desperately wants to leave the club (although his stance may swiftly change by tomorrow morning) and who will undoubtedly sign for the Spanish giants in January. On and off the field, Louis van Gaal is doing his best to prove that Man United are no longer one of the biggest clubs in the world and after signing Monaco’s Anthony Martial for somewhere between £36-£50 million,...

Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren has admitted he is “very surprised” that Daryl Janmaat has been left out of the latest Holland squad by new Netherlands head coach Danny Blind.
Holland face crucial European Championship 2016 qualifiers against Iceland and Turkey during the upcoming international break, but 25-cap Janmaat will not be part of the squad.
The Magpies right-back was an important member of Louis van Gaal’s 2014 World Cup squad, and he was also a regular under previous boss Guus Hiddink.

Yet it seems Dutch legend Danny Blind – father of Manchester United defender Daley – does not fancy Janmaat, at least not at the moment anyway.
And, when asked about Janmaat’s omission, McClaren said (The Chronicle):

That’s three Barclays Premier League games gone now and Newcastle United have picked up two points to date following their battling 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
On a ground that the Magpies have managed to leave victorious from in the league just once since 1972, Steve McClaren’s men put in an industrious performance to stifle Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils.
A first clean sheet of the season will have been welcomed, and that should give Newcastle confidence heading into their Capital One Cup Second-Round tie at home to Northampton Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off), as well as before their Premier League clash with Arsenal at St James’ Park on Saturday (12.45pm kick-off).
Tim Krul, Chancel Mbemba, Fabricio Coloccini and Aleksandar Mitrovic were just a handful of outstanding performers for the Magpies in Manchester on Saturday, and they have all received deserved praise as a result.

As the final whistle blew at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, Manchester United were left rueing a missed opportunity to make it 3 wins out of 3 in the Premier League. Defensively Louis van Gaal will be delighted at the start made, with 3 clean sheets in a row and his preferred central defensive partnership of Daley Blind and Chris Smalling developing very nicely. It is at the other end of the pitch which is becoming a cause for concern.
United have only found the back of the net twice (1 of those being an own goal) in their opening 270 minutes of Premier League football and the onus quite simply has to fall on the lone frontman Wayne Rooney. It was a triumphant return to European football for Manchester United on Tuesday as they survived an early scare to defeat Club Brugge 3-1 in the first leg of the 3rd round qualifier.
Marouane Fellaini popped up with a very late header to seal the win and with it Old Trafford breathed a collective sigh of relief.
To take a two-goal lead over to Belgium certainly helps, with the away goal looming over their heads.
Club Brugge will feel slightly hard done by, as Fellaini’s goal went in a minute after the injury time allotted. It looked as if the referee was going to blow his whistle but paused as Memphis whipped in the cross, almost as if he didn’t want to face the backlash had he not allowed the attack to happen. That late, late goal was so typical of United and so enjoyable...

There was something unsettling about Steve McClaren’s team selection last weekend. Not to judge the former Derby boss too quickly but surely it was either extremely naive or painfully ignorant to believe that the side who scraped a messy draw with a lacklustre Southampton side could adequately compete at the Liberty Stadium.
McClaren doesn’t have the excuse – as other Newcastle bosses perhaps have done – of not having a relatively healthy squad size and last weekend he failed to demonstrate being tactically capable of using his. The identical side and 4-2-3-1 formation was rolled out with Georginio Wijnaldum being used as a #10 and both full-backs instructed to play vey high up the pitch. It didn’t work and despite the Magpies being manipulated by Jonjo Shelvey and hypnotised by Jefferson Montero for 45 minutes, no first half changes were made.

Newcastle United face the daunting prospect of a trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, a ground they have only won one game at since 1972.
The Magpies have one point from their opening two Barclays Premier League fixtures following a creditable draw at home to Southampton and an absolute mauling away at Swansea. The home side have two wins from their opening two games but have failed to catch the imagination of their fanbase. You get the feeling that the United of Newcastle could be put to the sword when everything inevitably clicks for Louis van Gaal’s men.
The odds are certainly stacked against Steve McClaren’s side. And that’s before you even consider that the Newcastle head coach, who was Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant manager around the turn of the century, will be without the suspended Daryl Janmaat while Moussa Sissoko is a doubt with a groin strain.

Manchester United vs Newcastle United. It’s a game that, for Magpies supporters, has always been a special one in the footballing calendar.
Admittedly Old Trafford has been one of the unhappiest away grounds for the travelling Toon Army – Newcastle have won there just once in 31 encounters since 1972 – but it is still a pilgrimage that Magpies supporters make in their thousands on a yearly basis.
The fact that Newcastle have such a poor record in the red half of Manchester actually makes some supporters even more determined not to skip this clash – because they do not want to miss the rare occasions when they can be overjoyed at claiming victory there.
Steve McClaren, Sir Alex Ferguson’s former assistant boss at Man Utd, takes his Newcastle side back to Old Trafford on Saturday (12.45pm kick-off) still searching for his first win as Magpies head coach. An...

Steve McClaren certainly did not get any sort of honeymoon period as Newcastle United head coach.
Two games in and his side are already under pressure to deliver a result following an entertaining if frustrating 2-2 home draw against Southampton and then a fairly feeble 2-0 surrender away at Swansea City.
Yet the Barclays Premier League fixtures do not get any easier for the Magpies – in fact, they now face two of last season’s top four in their next two matches. First up, this Saturday lunchtime McClaren’s men travel to Old Trafford to face Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United (12.45pm kick-off).
No Toon supporter needs reminding that Old Trafford has certainly not been Newcastle’s happiest hunting ground down the decades, and this season’s encounter is unlikely to be one Magpies fans are holding out much hope for.
One boost Newcastle do have is that...

Sunderland are in talks with Manchester United over the possibility of a loan deal for Adnan Januzaj, the Sunderland Echo understands.
The 20 year old Belgian exploded onto the scene in 2013/14, but has since found his first team opportunities limited under Louis van Gaal. It’s likely that a season-long loan on Wearside would see Januzaj play a far more important role, given the relative dearth of creative, attack-minded players in his mould.
Dick Advocaat’s midfield revamp may not end with the capture of Januzaj. Leroy Fer and Yann M’Vila are thought to be rapidly approaching a medical, and the trio would bring Sunderland’s newcomer tally to seven – the Black Cats having already bolstered their ranks with Adam Matthews, Sebastian Coates, Jeremain Lens and Younes Kaboul.

16-year-old Cameron Humphreys started for Manchester City last Friday as Manuel Pellegrini’s side faced Real Madrid. He astonishingly walked out of the McG cricket ground in Melbourne alongside Yaya Toure, David Silva and Raheem Sterling but perhaps more amazingly was that he was then expected to mark Madrid’s fearsome front-line of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
The Citizens were comfortably beaten 4-1 but the England U17 International was no more at fault than experienced defenders Bakary Sagna and Aleksandar Kolarov. It’s clear that Pellegrini rates Humphrey’s highly and it’s likely he would like to sign him up when his two year scholarship at Man City finishes at end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Unfortunately for the City boss he will have to think quicker as there are a few other Premier League wilder-beasts circulating around the Etihad with a pen...

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes that Louis van Gaal should bring in a replacement of similar quality if they are to sell Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain. Neville, who praised the club’s summer transfer business is concerned about the Red Devils losing such an attacking threat and thinks a new face should be brought in imminently.
His comments make sense. The removal of Di Maria (despite his questionable form last season) leaves Manchester United with an unbalanced link between midfield and attack and new signings, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin would be unable to repair it. Ander Herrera is more of a textbook centre midfielder and does not possess the pace, acceleration or dribbling skills that their Argentine midfielder would bring to van Gaal’s midfield trio.
Di Maria is best used on the left side of a 4-4-2 diamond formation...

There is something ugly about Manchester United’s sparkly, expensive, Bastian Schweinsteiger shined 2015/16 Premier League winning machine. Louis van Gaal simply hasn’t finished the job. He’s spent around £75 million on a good valet, new alloys, fresh tyres and a paint job but he’s left a big Wayne Rooney-shaped fluffy dice dangling from the interior mirror.
The England international was given assurance from the Red Devil’s boss that he would be leading the line this season but given the amount of investment already put into the club this summer it seems unlikely they would risk starting their return to stardom on a striker who scored 12 league goals last season.
Yes, he played a handful of games in the middle of midfield but had his performances up front been of a high level then van Gaal wouldn’t have been able to consider moving him.

Despite signing exciting Dutch forward Jeremain Lens earlier this week, Sunderland seem keen to further bolster their attacking options, having been linked with young Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj.
Rumours of the 20 year old’s departure have emerged as a result of his slide down the United pecking order, with Sunderland the bookies’ favourite among a gaggle of suitors including Everton and Real Sociedad.
The young Belgian shone during David Moyes’ brief reign at Old Trafford, but seems to have fallen out of favour under Louis van Gaal. Despite being given the number 11 shirt last worn by Ryan Giggs, he was forced to oversee much of the 2014/15 season from the bench, rarely making an impression in the starting line-up.
Sunderland fans will be more familiar with Januzaj than most. The winger scored two goals at the Stadium of Light in 2013, turning Craig Gardner’s opener into nothing more than a footnote.
