Tyler MacIntyre’s Tragedy Girls raucously blends Detention with Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon. Heavy on quick-witted teen jargon (Jennifer’s Body on speed), light on serial killer training. It’s equal parts gruesome and forthcoming, as two pixie dreamgirls promote themselves on social media while classmate corpses pile up. Internet interactions allow psychopaths to hide in plain sight, while a lust for attention makes hobby murders sound like a serviceable road to popularity. “Like, retweet and follow!” our characters beg, because that’s the world we live in now. A millennial apocalypse set in the digital realm.
Brianna Hildebrand and Alexandra Shipp are the “Tragedy Girls,” two high school seniors who run an online account that’s obsessed with true-crime. Specifically, the idea of serial killers. Brand popularity increases when their sleepy town of Rosedale falls victim to a string of deaths, but this isn’t...

I am absolutely in love with Tragedy Girls, as it completely defied my expectations at every single turn. A brilliant send-up of the slasher sub-genre that's relentlessly funny, heartfelt, and clever, Tragedy Girls is one of the most “fun” festival movies I’ve seen since Deathgasm, proving that no one can ever come between two best friends, especially when they've got murder on their minds and an online legacy to build.
In the film, Sadie (Brianna Hildebrand) and McKayla (Alexandra Shipp) are BFFs at Rosedale High. Also known online as the “Tragedy Girls,” they take their obsession with true crime and serial killers to the next level when they kidnap an active killer named Lowell (Kevin Durand) with hopes of learning a few things from a professional before they embark on their own murderous path. But when Lowell refuses to give up the goods, the besties decide to embark on...

Do you think Jeremy’s exes are still carrying a torch for him? Watch our exclusive interview with Malese!
Now that Malese Jow is back in action as Anna on The Vampire Diaries, she told HollywoodLife.com she’s ready for anything — even a showdown against Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) ex-girlfriend Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and current squeeze Bonnie (Kat Graham)! “It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be shocking, as always,” Malese told us May 19 at the Young Hollywood Awards. “I have no idea what’s going on — if it’s going to be fighting, or a love square — so whatever they choose, I’m sure it will not let anyone down.”
But our favorite part about our chat with Malese was finding out that she’s just as much of a “fanatic” about the show as we are! She and her Big Time Rush...
