To say there's buzz around the return of Empire, Fox's ballsy King-Lear-meets-Mahogany hit that kicks off its sophomore season on September 23rd, is an understatement. (It's like observing that there's a few Gop hopefuls running for President.) All eyes are on the series to see if it can maintain the level of drama, glam and delightful camp that turned it into a ratings powerhouse and Twitter champ. The series hits every pleasure point for successful trashy TV: ludicrous plots, gleaming fashions, breakout performances, and a true gasp of it's own...

Was there ever any doubt that the Empire finale would be absolutely bonkers? In just two hours, Empire crammed in approximately six seasons' worth of material - and we wouldn't have it any other way. The finale was a bit of a convoluted ... not mess, per se, but certainly something that requires a brief recap. Here's what happened in the season 1 finale of Empire, as told in 9 GIFs (and 3 Tweets!).Snoop Dogg Made an Appearance His appearance in the finale was basically superfluous, but Snoop Dogg wasn't alone in showing up and playing himself for no real reason other than...

The client roster of misfit toys belonging to Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) has grown ever larger.
In "Out, Damned Spot," we meet Elle Dallas (Courtney Love), a has-been whom Anika (Grace Gealey) is keen to drop from Empire entirely. Partly to annoy Anika, but mainly to restore Elle to her status as a hit-maker due to the influence she had on Cookie during the early years of Elle's career, Cookie takes her on as a client.
Elsewhere on this week's Empire, Lucious (Terrence Howard) cops to killing Bunkie (Antoine McKay), Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is having relationship troubles and Hakeem (Bryshere...

And, the episode wouldn’t be complete without Taraji B. Henson’s Cookie storming the video-shoot set
“Empire’s” Lucious Lyons (Terrence Howard) clearly doesn’t need your protection, and Veronica’s (Veronika Bozeman) now ex-manager Mel probably needs to see a doctor.
There will be a bit of an incident in Lucious’ trailer at the music-video shoot for Tiana (Serayah) and Veronica’s duet “Bad Girl” on Wednesday. Howard’s character pummels Mel with what appears to be either a cane or some sort of cane-shaped production equipment. Either way, we don’t see the violence, but we sure...
