Greg Gutfeld thinks he knows his music. He’s Fox News’s de facto rock critic. Last year he wrote up his favorite albums of 2016, name-checking The Avalanches and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. He even has a long-running beef with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. So he must know what he’s talking about when it comes to Radiohead, right? On “The Greg Gutfeld Show” Tuesday, he lambasted the British rockers led by Thom Yorke as “a poor man’s Coldplay.” “Radiohead is a fine band, but they stole everything from Coldplay,” Gutfeld said. “Radiohead is the poor man’s Coldplay.

Radiohead and Rage Against the Machine have both earned nominations for induction into Cleveland, Ohio’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their very first year of eligibility. That said, Thom Yorke’s (pictured above) group might no-show the event, even if they’re ultimately selected. “I’d rather be sitting at home in front of the fire or going to a gig,” bandmate Ed O’Brien told Rolling Stone in June when asked about the possible honor. “Brits are not very good at slapping ourselves on the back. It seems very show-biz and I’m not very show-biz.

The adorable duo was spotted at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, on Friday, looking as cute as ever during Travis Scott's ultra-hype set.

Radiohead closed out night No. 1 of Coachella on Friday, but unfortunately, it was a major "Let Down."
The English rock band, who is no stranger to the Indio, California, music festival's main stage, experienced major technical difficulties, causing the rockers to stop their show at least four times.

It all started during the band's third number, "Ful Stop," from their latest album, A Moon Shaped Pool. Then, it was all downhill from there.
"Whoa. For a fourth time Radiohead's console has popped," Gerrick D. Kennedy, a music writer for the Los Angeles Times, tweeted from the festival grounds. "I have never seen this sort of malfunction from a main stage act."
Doomed by disaster after disaster, frontman Thom Yorke jokingly blamed it on "the f**king aliens again!"

The writer/director of Son of Rambow on surviving his first animation, using his sons as piglets, and the French view of Brexit
As half of producer-director duo Hammer & Tongs, Essex-born Garth Jennings started out making music videos for the likes of Blur, Fatboy Slim, Rem and Radiohead, before moving into films with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Son of Rambow. He has now written and directed animated musical comedy Sing. He lives in Paris with his wife, four sons and a “bloody lazy” French bulldog.
Is it true the idea for Sing started over a cup of tea?
It genuinely did. How very British. The boss of Illumination studios, Chris Meledandri, had seen Son of Rambow and had this idea for a musical based around a singing contest for animals. Like me, Chris loves The Commitments – and Sing Street more recently – where you follow multiple characters...

[Update: “Game of Thrones” producers have told Entertainment Weekly that the Brexit vote will not affect production on the HBO series.]
Brexit has already brought crashing markets and Prime Minister David Cameron’s resignation. It’s reasonable to believe that the financing and production of the biggest TV and film productions could soon follow suit. Here’s a breakdown of the major categories that could feel the impact.
Large Hollywood Productions
The Star Wars franchise is one of many blockbusters that shoots at Pinewood, a top-notch UK soundstage. “Game of Thrones” makes great use of the green field of Northern Ireland. “Outlander” creates it’s magical universe in Scottish castles and countrysides. All told, Hollywood sends 10%-12% of its productions — and billions of dollars — to the UK.
Hollywood is attracted to shoot in the U.K. because of tax incentives which save 25% on up to 80% of total production costs. These rebates are now in jeopardy due to Brexit. It is possible that the British government could decide to continue these incentives on their own.

It's official: Chris Rock needs to host the Oscars every year. The whole idea of other hosts has been tried, and it has failed, from the soul-withering void that was James Franco to the locust plague they call Seth MacFarlane. Why would you ever not call Rock for this gig? Ellen DeGeneres and Steve Martin are always welcome, but Rock is just the undisputed king of award-show hosts, and despite all the other things he can do, lampooning a roomful of bloated Hollywood egos is what he does best. Think Simon Cowell is cruel and calculating? Well, he's Gareth Malone compared to Steven Stelfox - the reptilian music rep in Kill Your Friends, a tar-black satire of the 1990s pop business. Which makes the fact he's played by the angelic face of Nicholas Hoult - who urinates on people (James Corden, no less) as an ice breaker - all the more startling.
But that's largely down to the subject matter. Former A&R man John Niven penned this daring and dynamic comedy from his own hit novel about his time in the biz - and has somehow managed to instil it with even more piss and bile on the big screen. What Niven doesn't do, however, is convey the same fear and desperation that sends Stelfox into his homicidal spiral of despair.
That burden, luckily, falls on leading man Hoult's shoulders, as he keeps you hanging on his every word.

It's not just X Factor winners who keep us coming back year in, year out, it's the ludicrous novelty acts who make the show so memorable. In the words of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, "it may be borderline bonkers, but I love that".
But since Louis Walsh's departure from the show, there's been a noticeable lack of novelty fodder. Damn them for employing judges who actually value musical talent over mad outfits and insane dance routines.

The third track on one of my favorite rock records of the last decade, Okkervil River’s The Stage Names, is called “A Hand to Take Hold of the Scene.” Without context, its lyric is a bit of a tough nut to crack. Will Sheff sings about events unfolding on a TV screen in the first verse, recaps a dream in the second, and seems to outline the narrator’s innermost wishes in the third. What’s not immediately apparent is that the first verse outlines scenes from two completely different TV shows – scenes that happened to be scored by Okkervil River songs. The first half of the verse refers to “It Ends With a Fall” (from Down the River of Golden Dreams) and its use on the reality series Breaking Bonaduce. (I don’t have that clip handy.) The second half, and probably the more illustrative of the two in any case,...

This article originally appeared in the February 2004 issue of Venice Magazine. It was the second time I've interviewed Baz, the first one being for the theatrical release of Moulin Rouge! back in 2001 (Still looking for that interview! It's on the ancient technology of floppy disc somewhere in my files.) This interview was for the Los Angeles run of "La Boheme" at the Los Angeles Opera.
It's hard to believe that it's been seven years since Luhrmann has had a theatrical film released as a director. But his Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, will be released later this year. Looking forward to it.
Closing the Red Curtain with “La Boheme”
Before moving on from the cinematic delights of his Red Curtain Trilogy, Baz Luhrmann revisits the Puccini masterwork which kicked off his career.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost five years since Foals emerged, seemingly fully formed and already exceptionally talented, from the maelstrom of hype and hyperbole that crackled around their debut album Antidotes. The Oxford quintet quickly embraced change and showed considerable evolution on the follow-up, 2010′s exceptional Total Life Forever. It was on this album where they sought to expand the scope of their sound without sacrificing quality, and relieve themselves of the math-rock tag that had plagued them since Bevan, Simon and Philippakis toured as part of cult math-rock band The Edmund Fitzgerald.
One minute into album opener Prelude and it becomes apparent that Foals have yet again broadened the boundaries of their musical spectrum and further expanded the scope of their sound. It’s an absolute gem of an opener, a slow-burning semi-instrumental (the distorted...

Matthijs Vlot took Lance Armstrong’s sit-down with Oprah and turned it into a “cover” of Radiohead’s “Creep” by supercutting footage from the interview to reconstruct more than a minute of the dissociative anthem, with Winfrey’s mmhmms as a back-beat. Watch the Nsfw video below.
There’s quibbling to be done with some of Vlot’s sample choices — to these ears, it sounds like he does a bit of digital squishing to get Armstrong to say “body” and “soul” — and musically, it ranks well below other “Creep” covers.
But as a statement, “I want a perfect body/I...

Finally! A time-lapse video that we can really get behind. Directed by Matt Ornstein -- and set to the tune of Radiohead's "The Daily Mail" -- this time-lapse was shot during Bonnaroo this year and features footage from the Tennessee music festival, leading up to the band's headlining live performance.
"The Daily Mail" was released as a digital download from Radiohead's King Of Limbs: Live From the Basement live video collection. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien revealed that the single had been in the works for "at least six years." However, when Radiohead decided to perform the song during their From the Basement set, the final arrangement "came together within a week."
Billboard reported that Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has hinted at a collaboration with former White Stripes frontman Jack White. On stage at Bonnaroo, Yorke dedicated a song to White, and then...

CBS is looking to grab some veto power here. In a federal lawsuit filed today, the broadcast network has accused ABC of ripping off CBS' long-running reality show Big Brother in the course of making its own upcoming reality show Life in a Glass House. Which is also a Radiohead song, but Thom Yorke hasn't made a peep! Not so much CBS... "If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then CBS should take pride in ABC's latest reality project...which remarkably employs at least 19 former producers and staff from CBS's hit reality series Big Brother, is a carbon copy of Big Brother and an obvious attempt by Defendants to capitalize on its unique success," the suing network...

'The Truth About Stanley' will go straight to the internet to give an alternative view of the Olympics city
A short film designed to raise awareness about Britain's rising rates of homelessness is to be premiered in London this week before becoming one of the latest professional productions to go straight to the internet.
The Truth About Stanley depicts the unlikely relationship between an elderly Congolese man and a young runaway boy both sleeping rough on the streets of London. It stars award-winning Kenyan actor Oliver Litondo and 12-year-old British actor Raif Clarke and has already been called the "Cathy Come Home for the 21st century" by one critic.
The film is released as the UK's homelessness rates increase: last month government figures showed the numbers of rough sleepers had risen by a fifth in England, while there was a 14% year-on-year rise in the numbers applying for homelessness assistance.

A few years ago, my friend told me that he'd heard Westboro Baptist Church was an elaborate scam led by former civil-rights lawyer Fred Phelps to profit from filing lawsuits against those who violate their free-speech rights. Yet after watching the Wbc spit on AIDS patients, picket soldiers' funerals, and generally behave like the biggest bag of dicks of all time for the past decade, it became clear that my friend was wrong, and that the Wbc was all too real. Today, however, for the first time in my adult life, I am looking toward the heavens and thanking God that Phelps and his merry band of hate-mongering, spluttering lamewads are the real McCoy. The church's recent remarks on Radiohead are so bizarre and outlandish that you'd think they were the brainchild of some mediocre SNL sketch-writer, and the fact that they aren't makes them [...]...

Joe Flanigan was born Joseph Harold Dunnigan III on 5th January 1967 in Los Angeles, California. He has three brothers and four sisters. His father left shortly after Joe's birth and Joe changed his surname to Flanigan after John Flanigan, his step father who adopted him. Joe spent most of his childhood at a ranch near Reno, Nevada when his family relocated there when he was aged 6. Joe attended boarding school in Ojai, California at 15. Here he had the lead role in the school production of A Streetcar Named Desire, where he played Stanley Kowalski. After he graduated high school, Joe attended the university of Colorado. Here he read for a history degree and starred in the production of Coriolanus. Joe was seen as shy (hard to believe now) and was told by a friend to take up acting as a means to alleviate his timidness. Said Joe, "At one point in college,...

Christmas greetings to all; had enough of your Mum blasting out some Bruno Mars and your Nan playing Buble on repeat, well here’s my top 10 best albums of 2011 just in time, ready for some light hearted discussion on this year’s music.
Whilst 2011 was a killer 12 months for games fans, cinema was crazily mediocre, but the music world was blessed with another good year. I was lucky enough to attend the Leeds Festival, one as usual set amongst a hectic summer schedule of mud, sweat and tears. I also found myself buying more albums as the year offered some impressively talented LPs. Below is a list of my top ten favourite albums of 2011. As I have quite a mainstream taste for music, I’d love some further suggestions on what you think are the best albums of 2011, enjoy.

Radiohead has had a big year -- a well-received new album, the new album remixed, more of the new album from the basement, the tour announcement, the Ticketmaster uproar, an Occupy showing, "SNL"/"Colbert Report appearances, an Mf Doom collaboration and we're sure we're missing something, but you get the point. The band popped up again today for one last (we think) notch on their 2011 calendar with a blast back to The Bends era -- a previously unheard track titled "How Do You Sit Still"/"Putting Ketchup in the Fridge." It sounds properly Bends-ian, and oddly reminds us of our old ice rink's jams. What does it remind you of?

In 2011, we all seemingly discovered dubstep and learned how to pronounce "Bon Iver." We marveled at the success of Adele, Katy Perry and Rihanna, took the leap with Beyoncé and got royal with Jay-z and Kanye. We said hello to bright new stars like Frank Ocean and the Weeknd and watched former breakouts Florence Welch and Drake take the next steps in their careers. Oh, and pretty much all of us bought Lady Gaga's Born This Way, or at least debated its pricing schemes.
