Comedian and TV host Samantha Bee has her next project lined up following the cancelation of her TBS show Full Frontal, and she is aiming for a much younger audience. According to Variety, Bee and Kristen Everman’s Swimsuit Competition production company is teaming up with Sinking Ship Entertainment to produce a sketch comedy series for kids. Titled Best Day Ever, the single-camera show is said to have a similar style to more adult-orientated sketch shows, like I Think You Should Leave and Key and Peele, but only featuring adults in supporting roles. The show comes from producer and writer Allana Harkin, who was once part of an all-female comedy troupe with Bee and worked on Full Frontal as a producer, director, and correspondent. No broadcaster is currently attached to the project, but it is expected to be taken out and shopped at the upcoming MIPCOM trade show in Cannes.

Samantha Bee and Kristen Everman’s Swimsuit Competition production company is partnering with Sinking Ship Entertainment to produce a sketch comedy series for kids, Variety has learned exclusively.
Titled “Best Day Ever,” the single-camera show is described as having a style similar to more adult-themed sketch shows like “I Think You Should Leave” and “Key and Peele,” but featuring adults only in supporting roles. The show hails from producer, director, and writer Allana Harkin. The project will be taken out at MIPCOM 2022.
“Eleven year old Samantha Bee just blushed so hard she fell off her banana seat bike,” said Bee. “Also, she would have killed for a show like this.”
“With ‘Best Day Ever,’ we are striving to make a dynamic sketch comedy series that brings kids joy, sparks their curiosity and most importantly makes them laugh,” added J.J. Johnson, partner and executive producer at Sinking Ship Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to partner with Allana,...

Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal” is getting a kick in the rear from Warner Bros. Discovery.
The show, which became a signature program for the large cable network TBS, “will not return to the network in the fall,” according to a statement from Bee’s representatives.
“As we continue to shape our new programming strategy, we’ve made some difficult, business-based decisions,” TBS said in a statement. “We are proud to have been the home to ‘Full Frontal With Samantha Bee’ and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work. We celebrate this extraordinarily talented cast and crew and look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them in the future.”

Samantha Bee sent Full Frontal correspondents Allana Harkin and Mike Rubens to the streets to talk to Americans about what they look for in a presidential candidate and the answers didn't seem to have a lot to do with people's qualifications.
Harkin opened the segment by joking, of the more than 20 Democratic presidential candidates, "the majority of Americans are now running for president." She and Rubens then spoke to pedestrians to see who they planned to vote for in 2020 and why.

Samantha Bee just ripped off Fox’s “Masked Singer” format in an attempt to point out the absurdity of our ongoing federal government shutdown. It was much sadder than the original South Korean adaptation, though we suppose that was kind of the whole point.
“Full Frontal” correspondent Allana Harkin headed down to Washington D.C. to interview a bunch of real — but masked — furloughed federal employees. Much like the Fox version, we got hints on who was under each elaborate costume.
Also similar to the hit Fox competition, which revealed who Poodle was the same evening this skit aired on TBS, the fun is in the guessing their identities, we guess.

Even when it’s not Halloween, who doesn’t want to be a witch? “Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee and fellow staffers Ashley Nicole Black and Allana Harkin put on their holiday best to put a fresh spin on a classic “Macbeth” scene.
Gathered around a cauldron to brew up a big pot of parts from all manner of creatures, the trio each toss in one very specific item. (Hint: it’s the same specific item that was once spray-painted over a bunch of cars in an Oceanside high school staff parking lot.) It’s a “Hocus Pocus” riff that adds in a little revenge against the patriarchy with all the newts and pigtails and such.
As for what happens after, the rest of tonight’s installment is “actually an all-boo episode because nothing is scarier than our current reality. We’ll be checking in on America’s horrifying history of antisemitism and,...

When Refinery29 premiered its Shatterbox Anthology in August of 2016, the new program was anchored by a forward-thinking concept: to “create short films that redefine identity, imagination, and storytelling through the female lens.” In their first “season,” they made a dozen films with a dozen female directors. Now, they’ve unveiled their second series of short films from female directors, including new offerings from Yara Shahidi, Gillian Jacobs, Jessica Sanders, A.M. Lukas (aka Anna Martemucci), Allana Harkin, Gilly Barnes, Ivy Agregan, and Janine Sherman Barrois.
Alongside partner TNT, the second season of Shatterbox (as its known these days) kicked off with a Tiff screening earlier this month, but the full series is already available online for interested viewers. This second season consists of 8 wide-ranging short-form films helmed by female directors, from a new take on “The Red Balloon” to a timely story about immigration and even a wild digital tale about viruses gone crazy.

When Full Frontal With Samantha Bee first launched on TBS in February 2016, it was heralded for the fact that a woman was finally entering the late-night fray, cracking the glass ceiling sealed shut by the likes of Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver. It was a fact that the host even seemed to lament, considering she spent 12 years on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart before landing a production deal with TBS, which also airs The Detour, a scripted comedy she co-created and executive produces with husband Jason Jones. But Full Frontal quickly proved it was more than just a late-night show hosted by a woman -- it had a whole different point of view.
