More than 100 key figures from the UK film and TV industry have signed a letter urging the UK government to take “immediate action” against Iranian authorities for “gross violations of human rights and women’s rights” in their response to the wave of public protests that erupted last year.
The industry leaders, including Barbara Broccoli, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Edgar Wright, are calling for the UK government to “actively campaign to stop the violence used against the protesters in Iran, including an immediate stop to all executions” and “demand the release of all political prisoners in Iran.”
“Enough is enough. If the global community, which the UK is an active and influential member of, does not act firmly, these atrocities will continue,” the letter reads. “We need to sincerely support the people of Iran in their fight for justice and freedom.”

A growing number of figures from the film and TV industry in the U.K. have signed a letter urging British politicians to support the people of Iran as the country faces global condemnation for executing several of those involved in the wave of protests that erupted last year.
The letter, instigated by British-Iranian filmmaker Babak Anvari, calls for members of U.K. parliament to actively campaign for Iran to stop violence against protesters and end all executions, to hold Iran accountable for the “gross violations of human rights and women’s rights,” and to demand that Iran releases all political prisoners.
Among the almost 100 names to have signed the letter, which is still circulating and gathering attention, are Olivia Colman, Martin McDonagh, Jessie Buckley, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Brett Goldstein, Jonathan Pryce, Hugh Bonneville, Richard Curtis, Gillian Anderson, Felicity Jones, George Mackay, Edgar Wright and Hayley Atwell.

Kaiser Chiefs star Nick Hodgson has quit the band after 15 years.
The drummer, backing vocalist and principal song-writer for the indie band anounced the news on Twitter on Tuesday. He wrote:
His bandmates expressed their support for his decision, pointing out there are no hard feelings about his departure.
Lead singer of the Leeds band Ricky Wilson tweeted:
Nick Hodgson has left the Kaiser Chiefs
And bass player Simon Rix wished Hodgson luck:
Hodgson was with the band for six albums in total, including one in their pre-Kaiser Chiefs guise (Parva) and this year's compilation, 'Souvenir: The Singles 2004–2012'.
In 2010, he set up Chewing Gum Records with fellow Kaiser Chiefs member Rix. He has also written songs for Duran Duran and Shirley Bassey, working closely with DJ and producer Mark Ronson.

Kaiser Chiefs has insisted that their upcoming 'Greatest Hits' compilation will not mark the end of the band. The Leeds group released the 14-track Souvenir on Monday (June 4). Bassist Simon Rix told BBC Breakfast: "It's a singles collection, it's similar [to a 'Greatest Hits'] but different. It's not a 'Greatest Hits', it's not the end." The album also features two new tracks 'On the Run' and 'Listen to Your Head', with Rix saying that Souvenir was a "way of (more)...

Kaiser Chiefs have admitted that their idea to allow fans to select their own tracklist for their new album overshadowed the LP's actual release. The band gave fans the opportunity to chose ten tracks from a selection of 20 online to create their own version of their recent record The Future Is Medieval. However, bassist Simon Rix has claimed that the scheme confused consumers who now do not realise that a physical edition of the album is also available. Rix told the Daily Star: "The publicity around the 'choose your own version' overshadowed the CD so much that still no-one knows it's out." Frontman Ricky Wilson confessed that he wanted to wait until after the festival season to release the physical edition, but their record label insisted they released before. Wilson added: "Our (more)...

This years Glastonbury festival was without a doubt a memory which will live on within the minds and hearts of all those who attended. June 22nd - 26th saw a huge number of amazing bands, acts, and performers wowing the 135,000+ attendees who were lucky enough to get themselves a ticket, and it just so happens I was one of them!
As the line up was so vast and varied, and as performances were listed to begin on Thursday with doors opening at 8am on Wednesday, I took the Wednesday to Friday off from work, piled my tent, clothes, and snacks into the car, and drove down to Somerset to make sure I found myself a space in the queue for parking, and then to find myself a suitable place to pitch my tent ready for the next 4 nights.

A music video in accompaniment of Kaiser Chiefs' new song "Good Days and Bad Days" has been outed. The video is shot showing four bright-colored spots occupied by their four members Ricky Wilson, Andrew White, Simon Rix, and Nick Hodgson and leaving one empty place for keyboardist Nick Baines with a sign read "Gone to Hospital, Back in 5 Min".
Nick has indeed been hospitalized during the filming of the music video. "It's weird because I'm not in it [the video]. There's a little sign on my keyboard saying 'gone to hospital be back in five minutes'. I'm there in spirit," he said commenting on his absence on the video.
"Good Days and Bad Days" is the second single appearing on the band's third studio album "Off With Their Head", which has gone on U.K. sale since October 20. The track was written based on the emotional feeling that Ricky experienced. "We wrote the song about that,...

Kaiser Chiefs have argued that Sir Paul McCartney is one of the most 'influential people alive'. The Leeds rockers performed with McCartney at the Liverpool Sound Concert at Anfield yesterday. Speaking about their admiration for the former Beatle, bassist Simon Rix said: "I've said this before that I think Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are up there, if not the most influential people who are still alive. "I don't know who is more influential than those two (more)...
