Damon Lindelof and Chris Mundy (“Ozark”) have joined DC’s upcoming Green Lantern series as writers.
DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn confirmed the news on Instagram Saturday, writing, “Yes, it’s true. The ‘Lanterns’ Dcu series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King and Damon Lindelof.”
Lindelof is known as the co-creator and showrunner of the sci-fi series “Lost,” which ran from 2004 to 2010 on ABC, and the 2019 HBO limited series “Watchmen.” He also co-created and served as showrunner on the HBO supernatural series “The Leftovers.”
Mundy served as showrunner on the Netflix series “Ozark” from 2017 to 2022. He executive produced such series as “Criminal Minds,” “Cold Case,” “Bloodline” and “True Detective” Season 4.

DC Studios' upcoming Green Lantern TV show, "Lanterns," has assembled its writer corps. Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed on Instagram today that the series' pilot script and show bible was written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and DC Comics writer Tom King, who has been part of the DC Universe's creative team since the start.
"Lanterns" was first announced in January 2023, along with the rest of the "Gods and Monsters" slate, as it's been dubbed by Gunn and his fellow co-ceo, Peter Safran. It's a soft reboot for the DC Extended Universe, which fizzled out into a succession of box office bombs, and is currently taking a bit of a breather while Gunn and Safran assemble this massive new slate of films and TV shows. Gunn is also getting personally stuck in, writing and directing the upcoming "Superman" movie reboot and continuing his creative duties on "Peacemaker" for season 2.

Steven Moffat is one of the most divisive names in the "Doctor Who" fandom. First he was the beloved writer who gave us one amazing story per season. Then he was given the reins of the show in 2010 and the audience's good will started to slip away. By season 7 he'd gotten a reputation as a guy whose storylines were too complicated for their own good, and as a showrunner who was sort of bad at writing realistic, three-dimensional characters who weren't named the Doctor. Particular scrutiny was given to how he wrote women; we loved River Song when she was introduced in season 4, but by the end of Eleven's run it felt like most of his female characters were just River Song variants. Moffat loves himself an aggressively badass woman who never stops flirting, but fans themselves grew tired of it.

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
Back in 2012, Doctor Who fans freaked out. We’d been told in advance that Clara (Jenna Coleman) would eventually replace Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) as the next companion of the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in series 7 of the show. But fans weren’t prepared for just how soon Coleman would make her Doctor Who debut. Although she wouldn’t officially join Matt Smith in the Tardis until a few episodes later, Coleman first appeared in the series 7 premiere “Asylum of the Daleks” as a seemingly different character named Oswin, who, although she met a tragic end, encouraged the Doctor to remember her.
And now, 12 years later, it looks like Who history is repeating itself. In the absolutely wonderful Steven Moffat-penned episode, “Boom,” the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) encounters a host of new allies, including a marine named Mundy. For fans of Star Wars: Andor,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 3 “Boom.”] Welcome back to Doctor Who, Steven Moffat! The former showrunner wrote the latest episode, which puts the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby (Millie Gibson) in the middle of a battlefield, with a few twists along the way. The one that will have everyone buzzing first is obviously the casting for one of the Anglican Marines (just one of several nods to Moffat’s Doctor Who past): Varada Sethu—who’s joining the series in Season 2 as a new companion—as Mundy. Moffat, understandably, is mum when it comes to even hinting at what’s ahead for Sethu on Doctor Who. “[Showrunner] Russell [T Davies] has a plan, and I don’t know what the exact details of his release of that plan are going to be,” he tells TV Insider. “I simply wrote the character of Mundy, and she did what she had to do in the story.

HBO’s Game of Thrones wrapped up in 2019, but its impact and influence continue to flourish in pop culture, especially with its prequel series, House of the Dragon. The fantasy series is known for its rich storyline and brilliant foreshadowing of events, which seemed to have inspired a 2015 music parody of Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’.

Following the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ Dceu was officially concluded and Gunn’s and Safran’s Dcu officially took over as the primary cinematic universe for DC characters. Now we do know that plenty of projects are in development as a part of Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, and one of the most notable ones is a live-action show focusing on Green Lanterns aptly titled ‘Lanterns.’
Geoff Johns originally had a script for a Green Lantern Corps film set in the Dceu, scheduled for release by the end of 2019. However, plans shifted when it was announced in April 2020 that Johns would produce a Green Lantern Corps series for HBO Max, suggesting a change in direction. Efforts have been made to distance the series from the CW’s Arrowverse, possibly to appeal to those disinterested in the Arrowverse’s lower-budget productions.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
One year after the release of Amityville Scarecrow, we get the sequel Amityville Scarecrow 2 (2022). Unlike other sequels in the “franchise,” however, this second entry boasts an entirely new creative team. Stepping in as director is Adam Cowie, while Craig McLearie takes over writing duties.
Amityville Scarecrow 2 picks up two years after the events of the first film. Adult sisters Tina (Amanda-Jade Tyler) and Mary (Kate Sandison) are no longer estranged, and they’re still aiming to re-open the cursed family campground, though they’re rapidly running out of money.
Mary’s daughter Harriet (Sofia Lacey) is also still around, though she confides in boyfriend Dylan (Dan Robins) that she’s ready to move on. She just can’t find the words to tell her mother.

On Super Bowl Sunday 2018, director Ava DuVernay tweeted, "#FilmTwitter is going to explode tonight. Something is coming that I can hardly believe. Lawd. History in the making." She was teasing Netflix's surprise release of "The Cloverfield Paradox," the third installment in the hit sci-fi and horror franchise. The film hadn't officially been announced, but it dropped on the streaming service right after the game ended, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Unfortunately -- perhaps in part because the hype reached wild levels in the hours leading up to the film's release -- critics were not fans of the movie. DuVernay has since deleted her tweet.
"The Cloverfield Paradox" is a relatively derivative sci-fi thriller. It spends much of its runtime explaining what's going on, spelling out the rules of its plot mechanics. At the same time, its story can be tough to follow. It also bends over backwards to...

Nearly 10 months after Ozark went out with a literal bang, showrunner Chris Mundy is giving the final word on that final (gun) shot. At the end of the Netflix crime drama’s series finale, released in April 2022, private investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg) confronts Marty and Wendy Byrde (Jason Bateman and Laura Linney) at their home… only to find himself on the business end of a gun in the hands of Jonah Byrde (Skylar Gaertner), Marty and Wendy’s son. And after that last episode cuts to black, viewers hear a gunshot, leading some to wonder which characters in the scene met their maker. “Definitively in my mind, and anyone’s free to think whatever they want, but in my mind, he absolutely shot Mel, and Mel is dead, and that’s that,” Mundy said at an Ozark Q&a panel in Hollywood on Friday, February 17, per Variety. “I just...

The 1990s reggae rock band Sublime will get the biopic treatment from 3000 Pictures and Chernin Entertainment with “Hunger Games” filmmaker Francis Lawrence directing and “Ozark” showrunner Chris Mundy writing the script, Sony Pictures said Thursday.
The film will tell the story of how Long Beach musicians Bradley Nowell, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh became the leading figures of the ’90s alternative rock wave with a trio of albums that fused rock, reggae and ska punk among other influences. While the band developed a devoted following during their career from 1988 to 1996, it wasn’t until Nowell’s untimely death from a heroin overdose in 1996 that songs like “What I Got” and “Santeria” became breakthrough chart-toppers and made Sublime one of the most successful bands of the decade.

Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and the shows’ writers sat down to write the fourth and final season of the Netflix series in February 2020, only to be shut down a few weeks later. Then, four episodes were added to the roster, with the season to be split into two parts.
“We’d already sort of done it — we plotted it out, [and then] we had to stop and recalibrate,” Mundy tells THR. “The really hard part of that was you had to end episode seven in a way that felt like an ending and start at eight in a way that felt [like a beginning of a new season] because that’s the way people were going to experience it. That was super hard. And then, of course, we started filming [during] Covid with no vaccine. It was all a high degree of difficulty.”

It’s not just the music that Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans write, it’s the way it’s played. “You cannot believe how many different times I’ve sat in the editing room with them and said, ‘What … what instrument is that?’ It’s them like plucking some string on something in a strange way or hitting something at just the right angle to make a noise as part of it. They can really move things subliminally so well,” “Ozark” showrunner Chris Mundy said. Makes sense for a pair of composers who continue to use music to open up a portal between worlds, to make the unthinkable seem tangible and bring an alien touch to stories in a more recognizable genre. In the years after the two wrote the music for the 2013 Denis Villeneuve film “Enemy,” their growing resume now includes a number of film and TV projects that...
