When Jimmy Jayne is the only suspect in the gruesome deaths of four women, the disaffected ex-con sets out to clear his name by plunging headfirst into the criminal world he'd managed to escape.
Devon Sawa is the beleaguered Jimmy. The film, by director Edward Drake, is Gasoline Alley.
If that title brings to mind black and white noir films of the past, it's no coincidence.
Drake set out to make a neo-noir set in a version of Los Angeles about how far men will go when pushed to their limits.
Tattoo artist Jimmy drives a classic Chevelle muscle car and sports rockabilly shirts, smoking continuously. Most of what is said on screen is through actions and mood, and Sawa captures it effortlessly.
Luke Wilson and Bruce Willis are detectives Vargas and Freeman, and like Jimmy, they're not easy to pin down.

Bruce Willis has been very busy of late making films like they are going out of fashion. With at least a dozen releases planned for 2022, Gasoline Alley is the second for him with writer-director Edward Drake, after last year’s action-drama American Siege. Their third collaboration and the yet-unscheduled Paradise City is still in post-production and stars Pulp Fiction’s John Travolta. Perhaps all this high-volume VOD film-making provides an outlet for the Die Hard star to team up with ‘old screen pals’ again, while sharing the frame with new ones?
In gritty noir-ish crime thriller Gasoline Alley, Willis stars alongside Luke Wilson and Final Destination‘s Devon Sawa. However technically, Willis is hardly in it to warrant headlining status, something fans will be disappointed with if they are expecting a silver-haired version of cop John McClane.

International distributors will get a first look at action thriller “Gasoline Alley” at the upcoming Cannes Market. The film, which stars Bruce Willis, Luke Wilson and Devon Sawa, is represented by Highland Film Group.
The project was first announced at the European Film Market in Berlin, around the time that it was moving into production. Principal photography has now wrapped after set-ups in multiple U.S. locations.
The action follows a take-no-prisoners kind of company boss, played by Sawa, who is accused of a triple murder in Hollywood. He subsequently allies with the two tough detectives (Willis and Wilson) on his tail. And together they uncover a much larger truth than any one of them had imagined.
“Gasoline Alley” is directed by Edward Drake, who recently directed Willis in “Cosmic Sin.” The screenplay is by Tom Sierchio (“The Girl Who Invented Kissing”).
Corey Large and Sierchio are producing the film with BondIt Media Capital financing.

Just days after Season 19 finalist Caleb Kennedy was cut from American Idol when a racially insensitive video surfaced, Season 18 fan favorite Doug Kiker — known as the “singing garbageman” – has been arrested on domestic violence charges in Alabama. Kiker was booked on Thursday for domestic violence, per the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office records. TMZ first reported the news.
According the music site A Taste of Country, as of last year Kiker was a married father of two who worked full time on a garbage truck.

The 28-year-old Kiker brought Idol judge Katy Perry to tears with his version of Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road.” The audition racked up more than 200 million video views across all platforms, according to Yahoo Idol expert, Lyndsey Parker. The dentally-challenged contestant was not long for the show, however, being sent home the first day of Hollywood Week.

Bruce Willis, Luke Wilson and Devon Sawa are set to star in rollicking action thriller “Gasoline Alley.” Highland Film Group, which is handling international rights, is presenting the project to buyers at this week’s European Film Market (EFM).
“Cosmic Sin” helmer Edward Drake, who reunites with Willis for the film, directs from a script by Tom Sierchio (“The Girl Who Invented Kissing”). Production will begin in early March across the U.S.
Sawa stars as Jimmy Jayne, a “bruise-fisted” boss-type who becomes implicated in the triple murder of three Hollywood starlets drowned in a luxury hotel pool. As the prime suspect for homicide detectives Freeman (Willis) and Vargas (Wilson), Jimmy takes up his own rogue investigation, bending the law in ways the police can’t in order to clear his name.
But with the killer skating through Jimmy’s shadow, he bands together with the two detectives to dangerously...

It’s a new week, and nestled in another dumpster-load of content destined for the garbage pile that is the growing video-on-demand market comes Stephen C. Miller’s Southern action thriller Arsenal. The first of two movies Miller has due for release in 2017, which incidentally will be his fifth since 2015 (in case you needed an idea of the patient love and care the director brings to his projects), Arsenal is incoherent, thin on ideas original or otherwise and, despite its brisk 92-minute running time, a curious slog. Even by the now shockingly low standards of Nicolas Cage, lo-rent crap extraordinaire, Arsenal is bad – a product of totally incompetent filmmaking that will, as you drift, have you pondering how the money it cost to make could have better served humanity.
Biloxi, Mississippi provides Arsenal‘s setting, the location adding an unavoidably muggy atmosphere that’s perfect for the pulpy material but...

There’s something about Marauders that prevents this familiarly-generic crime thriller from becoming a grungy haze of bullets and backstabbing – Christopher Meloni. The long-time Law & Order: Svu star/two-time “crazy cook talking to a can of vegetables” does what he does best: broods, confronts and conjures vein-popping intensity like pulling a rabbit from a thug’s beanie.
Director Steven C. Miller charters familiar action-centric territory with atmospheric ease, while writers Chris Sivertson and Michael Cody draw up an inside-the-box thriller that might have tanked without Meloni leading the charge. You won’t be blown away by this VOD-bound mystery, but fans of good-cop-bad-cop suspense will enjoy tagging along with this serviceable squad of hometown “heroes.”
That, or you’ll chuckle at how “human golem” Dave Bautista looks like he’s about to bust out of every cheap FBI jumper.

Even if you didn’t know from the ads that The Collector (opening July 31) is “from the writers of Saw IV, V & VI” (and now VII), it would be pretty easy to tell from the movie’s emphasis on torturous physical abuse and visual fetishization of its implements. And the good news is that it’s better than the last couple of Saw sequels, in large part because it has a sympathetic and well-acted protagonist at its center.
That’s Josh Stewart as Arkin (his first name), whose day job ironically has him installing security devices, considering that his night job involves breaking into houses he has worked on and making off with valuables. In desperate need of cash to help his ex-wife Lisa (Daniella Alonso), who’s got custody of their daughter and loan sharks after her, Arkin implores his criminal employer Roy (Robert Wisdom) for a quicker payoff on his next job.
