Ohio native George Nicholis is an up-and-coming screenwriter whose
dual-coast experiences working in both the film and television
industries have fueled his passion for creating narratives intended for
the screen. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in
Telecommunications from Ohio University in 2004, Nicholis worked for
Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, obtaining various positions with The
Insider and Entertainment Tonight. While in L.A., he wrote, produced
and directed his first short film, Prisoners of War, which earned
national recognition in the Amazon.com/Tribeca Short Film Festival.
In 2006, Nicholis relocated to New York City after accepting a position in marketing and publicity with the independent film distribution company, Picturehouse. During this time, he completed his first feature-length screenplay, Paper Airplanes, which secured a finalist position in the 2007 Writemovies.com International Writing Contest and went on to receive a staged reading at the IFC Film Center in New York City.
Nicholis' second feature-length script, Holmes, was a Semi-Finalist in the 2010 Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting and won top honors in several contests including First Place in the 2009 Creative World Awards Screenplay Contest, the Diamond Prize in the 2009 FilmMakers International Screenwriting Awards and a finalist in both the 2009 ScriptShark Insider Screenplay Competition and 2009 Champion Screenwriting Contest.
His next effort, the revenge drama Big Bad Wolfe, was among the Top 10% of screenplays selected out of more than 6,000 scripts in the 2010 Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting and was a finalist in the 2010 Writemovies.com International Writing Contest, the 2010 Creative World Awards Screenplay Contest and the 2010 Gimme Credit Screenplay Competition.
Most recently, Nicholis completed the screenplay for the comedy, The Alumni. He currently resides in New York City with his wife, Kaitlin.
