A Simple Favour 2 is moving forward at Prime Video, with director Paul Feig and stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively all making a return.
A Simple Favour did decent business relative to its outlay in 2018, grossing $97m worldwide on a $20m budget. Paul Feig directed the darkly comic mystery about a vlogger (Anna Kendrick) who investigates the disappearance of her elegant (and enigmatic) new best friend (Blake Lively).
A sequel has been in development for years; Simon Brew spoke to Feig about the first film on the Film Stories podcast in 2018 and discussed the sequel when Feig was our guest at a live podcast recording in 2022.
We also have a synopsis for the sequel, per Deadline:
In Part Two, we see the return of Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman.

In the new book Her Country: How the Women of Country Music Became the Success They Were Never Supposed to Be, author Marissa R. Moss explores the gender bias prevalent in modern-day country music and how artists like Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Mickey Guyton, and others worked to overcome it.

Season 3 of True Detective was well received, and star Mahershala Ali scored an Emmy nomination for his role as Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas. But what are the chances of Season 4?
HBO president of programming Casey Bloys provided a (slight) update at the TCA press tour on Wednesday. “I think Nic [Pizzolatto] has ideas, but I don’t think he’s landed on anything that he feels passionately about,” he said.
This echoes previous comments from Bloys, who said in February it would handle a potential fourth season the same way as it did with Season 3. He said earlier this year, “If Nic has an idea that he is excited about, we will talk about it but not rushing into anything.”

“I never stop coming up with theories about that case,” says the Arkansas cop played by Mahershala Ali in this trailer for HBO’s upcoming third season of True Detective. From the looks of this footage, he won’t be alone.
Playing out in three distinct time periods, the season promises to be a brain-teaser. Oscar-winner Ali (Moonlight) stars as Wayne Hays, an Arkansas state police detective who can’t stop thinking about the two children who went missing 30 years prior.
Costarring with Ali is Stephen Dorff as Hays’ partner on the case, along with Carmen Ejogo, Ray Fisher, Michael Greyeyes, Jon Tenney, Deborah Ayorinde, Rhys Wakefield, Sarah Gadon, Emily Nelson, Brandon Flynn, Michael Graziadei, Josh Hopkins, Jodi Balfour and Mamie Gummer. Nic Pizzolatto is the sole writer of the third season with the exception of Episode 4, which he co-wrote with David Milch.
Daniel Sackheim directs alongside Pizzolatto, who will make his directorial debut.

When Blake Lively's character makes her first appearance in A Simple Favor, we notice her stilettos before we notice her. It's meant to be that way. The camera zooms in on her heel hitting the pavement in the rain while the clack of its bottom hitting the ground is so crystal clear, it induces a shiver in the fashionistas watching. From that moment on, we're not only introduced to the enigmatic Emily Nelson, but also to the film's bonus star: fashion. As director Paul Feig explained to E! News, style was essential to the film as both a logistical element for the plot and also an intruding force. "Since Blake's character is like this alien that drops into this suburban...

From crystal-studded Christian Louboutins to a snap-off dickie (yes, dickie), there is more than a concession stand’s worth of fashion eye candy in the dark comedic thriller A Simple Favor. But one accessory truly stole the spotlight: the giant sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring that Blake Lively’s character, Emily Nelson, wears, which once belonged to the character’s mother-in-law — and serves as an important plot point for the film.
The dazzling piece bears an uncanny resemblance to another (very famous) family heirloom, and according to the film’s costume designer, Renée Ehrlich Kalfus, that similarity was on purpose.

In Hollywood, Henry Golding is as good as gold. The 31-year-old actor is on his way to becoming a household name, thanks to his starring role as Nick Young in Warner Bros.' Crazy Rich Asians. The movie—his very first—has been No. 1 at the box office since it premiered in theaters Aug. 15, earning $83.9 million domestically to date. Golding, who began hosting the BBC's The Travel Show in 2014, booked another glossy gig before that film was even released, playing Sean Nelson in the Lionsgate thriller A Simple Favor. The movie, in theaters Sept. 14, stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively as Stephanie Ward and Emily Nelson: two unlikely Bffs who get caught in a web of betrayals, lies and secrets. In an...

The first look of the third season of True Detective is giving off some major season one vibes with its haunting and enigamatic imagery.
In a trailer for the third installment of the anthology that played before the season finale of Sharp Objects, HBO seems like they are trading one unsettling story for another. Your guess is as good as mine as we try to decipher what is going on in this short, yet intriguing look at the series that ends with Ali saying: “I want to know the whole story.”
The trailer features the first looks at Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Scoot McNairy, and Mamie Gummer in action and we also see Academy Award-winning Ali float from scene to scene as Wayne Hays, a state police detective from northwest Arkansas, who is trying to put together the pieces of a mystery. Season 3 will tell the story of a macabre...

It looks like Blake Lively's latest character is the Bff of your nightmares. As we've been trying to put together the pieces of the actress's upcoming, ultra stylish September thriller, Paul Feig's A Simple Favor, a newly released trailer just tossed a wrench into our developing theories on what exactly this story involves. In the new visual, we learn her character Emily Nelson and co-star Anna Kendrick's Stephanie Ward meet thanks to their sons, who request a play date. Emily quirkly obliges with a quip. "Does your kid drink? Maybe? It's never too late to start teaching them," she says in what sounds like a joke, but perhaps we...

Blake Lively was a vision at the Met Gala in NYC on Monday night. The actress and mom of two walked the red carpet in an elaborate maroon and gold jewel-encrusted gown that stuck to the night's theme of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." Blake previously revealed that the creation took "over 600 hours" to make, and the attention to detail paid off, because she looked amazing! Instead of bringing husband Ryan Reynolds as her date, Blake was joined by footwear designer Christian Louboutin. While Blake was serving looks at the Met Gala, Ryan is overseas promoting Deadpool 2 before its May 18 release; over the weekend, he and costar Josh Brolin performed on Rome's version of Dancing With the Stars.

To promote the film A Simple Favor, the Gossip Girl veteran scrubbed her Instagram feed last week, deleting every photo and un-following everyone—including her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Luckily, Reynolds took her PR stunt in stride as he promoted Deadpool 2. "I'm very sad about that. Definitely stinks. It's a terrible way to find out that I've been kicked out of the house, to be honest. Absolutely terrible," the actor quipped. "I...

This is not a drill — Blake Lively has completely purged her Instagram followers and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, didn't even make the cut. The actress currently follows just 30 people, all of whom are women named Emily Nelson. What's even weirder, is that Blake also took this to Twitter sharing a photo of a completed hangman game that read, "What Happened to Emily?" And now, her Instagram bio consists of same phrase. Hmm... So, what is really going on? Although unconfirmed, there's a pretty good theory floating around. The 30-year-old mom of two is set to star in the upcoming film, A Simple Favor — a project she just recently promoted at CinemaCon. This particular movie, which is an adaptation of a book with the same name, follows the story of a woman named Emily Nelson who suddenly disappears and, ironically, that is exactly what Blake did on Instagram. pic.twitter.com...

That's a bold move, Blake. Blake Lively has deleted every single photo on her Instagram account. That's right. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. That's it. Her profile is followed by over 20.4 million followers and it now only follows 24 people, all women named "Emily Nelson." Her Ig profile now only has one single, solitary creepy sentence: "What happened to Emily?" Did she and Ryan Reynolds break up and she wants no reminders of their picture-perfect life together? Did she get hacked? Possibly by someone named Emily Nelson? All of that is looking pretty doubtful. The Instagram purge is likely part of a viral campaign ahead of her upcoming thriller, A...
