Mass-murdering cult leader Charles Manson doesn’t appear to have relatives on file with prison officials, meaning his body is likely to be left in state custody following his death on Sunday night.
According Vicky Waters, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Manson died at a Los Angeles-area hospital of natural causes, having spent more than half his life behind bars. He was most recently serving nine life sentences at California’s Corcoran State Prison.
Waters says there will be no autopsy on Manson’s body. The 83-year-old murderer was reportedly hospitalized multiple times this year before his death.

Halloween always provides a good excuse to celebrate scary movies, but as anyone keen on the genre knows, it’s never really a bad time to do that. That’s especially been true this year, long before “It” broke box office records. Just a few months into 2017 and it was already a banner year for genre films, with “Get Out” becoming a cultural phenomenon, new horror festivals generating headlines, and other promising developments that send a positive message to genre fans. While the industry worries about the future of moviegoing and the quality of the art form in a blockbuster-dominated era, horror fans have nothing to worry about — the genre is secure, but only if you know where to look.
Keeping up our annual tradition, here’s an overview of 13 of the very best horror indies produced over the last 12 months, all of which are available to rent, on streaming platforms or in theaters.

It turns out there's a lot more to know about Oscar sensation Gary Alan Coe than his charming Oscars appearance.
Gary and his fiancee, Vicky, stole the show at the 2017 Oscars on Sunday, when host Jimmy Kimmel surprised the tourists by bringing them up close and personal with A-listers at the ceremony. The two met Nicole Kidman, Ryan Gosling and Mahershala Ali among other celebs seated in the front row, and later, Denzel Washington, who jokingly married them.
Interestingly enough, "Gary From Chicago" has quite the past.

Chicago – Quirky Greta Gerwig is at it again (being quirky), and this time she’s looking for solutions in “Maggie’s Plan.” The made-in-New-York-City film has overtures of Woody Allen, combined with “Crossing Delancey.” Director Rebecca Miller (“Personal Velocity”) produces a valentine to all her influences and settings.
Maggie (Gerwig) is a single woman with a “plan.” She will use in-vitro fertilization in order to have a child, given that her track record with relationships is not good. Through her academic work, she meets John (Ethan Hawke), a professor whose shaky marriage to Georgette (Julianne Moore, adopting a Meryl Streep-like accent) is distracting his plans to finish his novel. John and Maggie hook up, and John leaves his marriage to be with her, and their newborn daughter. Maggie now has executed her plan, but was it the right one?

In the most moving story of the day, Robert Downey Jr dressed up as Tigger to invite a cystic fibrosis sufferer to the Captain America: Civil War premiere.
The actor responded after a mother called Vicky told him about the plight of her 7-year-old son Daniel over social media, and nothing could have prepared them for his response.
Mr. Stark here. This is for Daniel (@envy_coatings) who was having a rough day recently. When I'm in the dumps, I've found this little getup to be helpful. P.S. Would you like to come to the La premiere of Captain America: Civil War as my guest? If so, have your people call my people. All the best.

We were all pretty disappointed when J.C. Chandor, the terrifically talented helmer behind last December’s A Most Violent Year, fell off oil rig explosion drama Deepwater Horizon, but it appears that the director may have settled on a new project. Reteaming with A24, he’s producing and has plans to direct an adaptation of Vicky Ward’s book The Liar’s Ball, about the history of New York’s famed G.M. building.
Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb, both long-time collaborators of Chandor’s, are also producing the pic, which focuses on the furious battle between industry titans over the coveted area, which faces the southeast corner of Central Park. The script, which will be written by Manhattan and The Newsroom scribe Gideon Yago, heavily features Harry Macklowe and explores his fight to own and redevelop the G.M. Mad Max's George Miller was agonisingly close to bringing Justice League to the screen. Here's why it didn't happen...
With Mad Max: Fury Road currently melting minds at multiplexes worldwide, it seems like the right time to remind everyone that the film's director, George Miller, was once set to helm a Justice League movie back around 2008. The project was known as Justice League: Mortal and it was far more than an unproduced script. A full cast was in place, sets and costumes were in production from Weta Workshop, and filming was all set to begin in Australia before things got...complicated.
It's a shame, too. Based on the script I read, Justice League: Mortal would have been a fairly impressive, very recognisable representation of DC's flagship super team. It also would have beaten The Avengers to the big screen by at least a couple of years.

Movie merchandise is big business. But some people will try and slap the name of The Avengers or Batman on anything...
Cool film stuff can be almost as fun as actually going to the movies. Think of a Batman cape, an Arnold Schwarzenegger action figure, or Goldeneye on the N64. Hell, the merchandising can often be more enjoyable than the actual film – remember how much fun the first few months of 1999 were before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was actually released?
Yet, in the chase to make a quick buck out of devoted fans, some... let's just say less relevant, movie merchandise is churned out and flogged to the public.
Here then are 50 of the strangest (not ranked in order!) – expect action figures of obscure henchmen, 16-carat gold Twilight jewellery and some truly vomit-inducing burgers…

We love Made in Chelsea and we love New York, so it was kind of a given that Made in Chelsea: New York would be right up our alley. And it was! Alright, so this opening episode was a bit 'set everything up' - with everyone talking about how brilliant New York is and all that nonsense - but that doesn't mean there weren't some more fabulous moments to enjoy. From new girl Billie causing a stir to Spencer playing baseball (oh God), we run down our 21 best moments of the week...
1. The New York-ified titles.
Totes glam.
2. Lucy's non-selfie.
We get Lucy's decision to take a photograph on board a boat as she sails into Manhattan. We don't get why there was nothing on the screen.
3. Brunch parties are a thing in New York.
Spencer and Jamie were making a right show of themselves, hooting and wailing.

At the start of this week's episode, we found Mindy still reeling from her breakup with Casey.
It wasn't long before we met Cliff Gilbert, an attractive lawyer with an online shopping problem. Despite their contentious first encounter, you got the feeling we will see the two involved at some point.
In the meantime, Mindy still had to find a way to deal with her grief. Danny would have been the obvious choice to come to her aid, but "Magic Morgan" took an interesting turn when Morgan knocked on her door.
I'm not sure there is enough wine in Manhattan to make Mindy's judgement so impaired that she would try to sleep with Morgan. Although you can't blame her for being intrigued after hearing about Morgan's most recent breakup and his uncanny track record with woman.
Morgan: Do you remember my ex girlfriend Vicky?
Mindy: No.
Morgan: Ok, well anyway,...

The first episode of Revenge‘s third season gets rid of everything unpleasant about the last go-around (adios, Carrion!), introduces some intriguing new folks (bonjour, Margaux and hellllllo Patrick) and reminds us why we rooted for Emily Thorne in the first place. But then you’d also probably contract a fatal disease or die in a horrific accident, which would seriously bum me out.)

A week or so ago in a Brighton basement, Den of Geek attended a fun evening organised by the - aptly named, in this instance - arts and entertainment group, Space.

Rebecca Hall, in just a handful of roles, has become one of our favorite actresses, someone whose presence makes any project endlessly more exciting. Most of us first remember seeing Hall in Christopher Nolan's underrated magician thriller "The Prestige," and she made a splash not long after in Woody Allen's hit "Vicky Christina Barcelona" (she played Vicky), before turning in ace supporting performances in Nicole Holofcener's "Please Give," Ben Affleck's "The Town," the 1974 section of "Red Riding Trilogy," and this summer's "Iron Man 3" (as a brilliant scientist who creates something very bad). She's a fearless actress, bringing both a tightly coiled intensity and disarming beauty to her performances. This is the especially the case in this week's "Closed Circuit," where she plays a lawyer trying a terrorism case in Britain's controversial closed court proceedings (she's also involved romantically with another lawyer, played by Eric Bana...

Things aren't looking promising for any romantic reunions between young Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) and Sebastian Kydd (Austin Butler) on Season 2 of "The Carrie Diaries."
Even though Sebastian cheated on Carrie with her best friend in the Season 1 finale, fans of the "Sex and the City" prequel series were still holding out hope that the two would find some way to get back together. But two recent pieces of casting news are making it pretty obvious that this won't be the case.
First, we already know that Molly Sims is set to woo Sebastian as a cougar named Vicky ... and we know he loves the older ladies (he was expelled from his previous school because he slept with one of his teachers). As if that wasn't already enough to deter Carrie from taking Sebastian back, Season 2 just cast relative newcomer Chris Wood as a big love interest for Carrie, TVLine reports.

Triplett, N.C. — The way Eustace Conway sees it, there's the natural world, as exemplified by his Turtle Island Preserve in the Blue Ridge Mountains. And then there's the "plastic, imitation" world that most other humans inhabit.
But the border between the two has always been porous – uncomfortably so these days.
When Conway – known today as a star of the History Channel reality show "Mountain Men" – bought his first 107 acres in 1987, his vision for Turtle Island was as "a tiny bowl in the earth, intact and natural, surrounded by pavement and highways." People peering inside from nearby ridges would see "a pristine and green example of what the whole world once looked like."
Since leaving his parents' suburban home at 17 and moving into the woods, Conway has been preaching the gospel of sustainable, "primitive" living. But over the past three decades, those notions have clearly evolved.

As we mentioned, when Mike Ryan published his article about the origins of El Generico, we were thinking about starting a wrestling section, here on Sound on Sight. Based on the enthusiastic response to that article and announcement, it is no longer a case of will we we do it, but how quickly will we do it. We are trying out a few new writers on critical reviews of the weekly Raw and Smackdown shows. This is the first of those auditions by Michael Dunbar. Let us know what you think!
We are Smackdown opened with a fiesta, mariachi band and all, celebrating Alberto Del Rio’s victory over the Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship on last week’s Smackdown. One day the world of wrestling will stop playing in to stereotypes, but judging from the crowds reaction, that day won’t be any time soon. Myself, I...

Tears of joy and sadness. Laughter and anger. I think all Doctor Who fans felt that more than once or twice… Or more like countless times while holding mine plastic sonic screwdriver not suitable for kids under 3…. I mean you. I don’t do that. Totally don’t. But there’s nothing strange in that – at least that’s what I’m telling people after a long It-Happend-But-Unhappend-But-Happend Vicky Pollard kind of monologue and realizing that I’m becoming one of those guys who probably keep kids in cellar. Which I don’t. Totally.
But one thing is certain – from time to time we all blame Moffat (while our therapists thanks him) for all those horrible things and for overdoing some of the plot twists – fact that River is daughter of Amy and Rory, for example, which some people find too The Bold and Beautiful style. For me he just again goes Moffat.

We present to you our list of top 5 supporting actors and actresses of 2012. Our emphasis is on the word ‘supporting’, as in actor or actress that literally supported the main leads of the film, but was not one of them. These are the actors and actresses who are usually not promoted as part of the film, but often surprise us, either with their standout performances, or as perfect complements to the lead cast. Read on to find out who caught our attention.

5. Himesh Reshammiya – Khiladi 786
He has harboured dreams of being a leading man for quite some time now, but has sadly not been too successful, with Radio and Kajraare being two examples. With Khiladi 786, Himesh produced the film, created the music and also wrote the script. But he then gave away the lead role to Akshay Kumar, opting to play second fiddle. He was...

2012 turned out to be a year when a number of smaller or independent films made their way onto many Top Ten lists. But, as always, there are films that, for a number of reasons, risk being forgotten or overlooked, especially in a year where there are so many great films to choose from. Here are 13 films – 10 already released, 3 from the festival circuit – that you should have seen in 2012. It’s still not too late!
Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid (dir. Nila Madhab Panda)
It’s a massive shame that Nila Madhab Panda’s film didn’t get as much attention as his I Am Kalam, and also a shame that the film was released to DVD without English subtitles. Because Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid, like I Am Kalam, weaves an issue into a story about, and for, children and families, and the message it carries (about the value of women and...

Holidays tend to bring out memories and family tension in the most normal of families. So, heading into this special installment, one could only imagine what the holiday would conjure up for our favorite villain, Victoria Grayson.
In "Lineage" we learned that the duplicitous apple certainly does not fall far from the scheming tree.
Yes, the introduction of Victoria's awful mother Marian was just one of the many highlights from the latest flashback-heavy episode. Let's take a trip to 2006, shall we?
2006 was a time of new beginnings. Ashley had just arrived in New York and struggling to make her rent, almost resorting to a career as an escort. Daniel was a freshman at Harvard, dreaming of becoming a poet. Jack had finally gotten himself the boat, the Amanda. In a drawn out/semi-useless storyline, we found out that Kenny was invested in taking over the Stowaway because Papa Porter was involved in his father's death.

A Takeda-like riddle for you: If Revenge‘s central truth came to light in this week’s episode but then was shipped off to the slammer just a short while later, did it even happen? Also, a good hint at the circumstances surrounding the season premiere’s flash-forward made it seem like life vests and emergency beacons might be a prudent wedding gift for the future Mr. and Mrs. Porter. Meanwhile, a commercial tie-in had me making Kara-off-her-meds faces at the television intermittently through the evening. Let’s review what happened during “Penance.”

Thirteen years after they all graduated, it is reunion time at East Great Falls High School for the American Pie Gang. Unlike the thinned down cast list for American Pie: The Wedding, this time they are all here – Oz, Jim, Stifler, Finch, Kevin, Vicky, Heather, Michelle, Jim’s Dad and Stifler’s Mum. Some have settled down, some have moved on, some are content, some not. Many shenanigans ensue.
*****
The original American Pie trilogy was (very much like many trilogies) a fine working example of the law of diminishing returns. Characters were increasingly presented as much the same, only more so, scenarios were built up with the pay off (usually at the expense of Jim’s dignity) painfully obvious to see and the crude/vulgar quotient was steadily ramped up. Increasingly hard to find was the sweetness and good-naturedness of the first film, as gross-out became the new name of the game.

Kenneth Branagh used to find playing Wallander so grim, he went to flower shows to cheer himself up. Vicky Frost joins the newly knighted actor in Sweden to talk about the latest series – and his plans to write a drama about his Belfast childhood during the Troubles
You don't often see Kurt Wallander smiling. Frowning, yes; considering something deeply, yes; worrying away at a problem, yes – but not smiling, let alone grinning. Yet, as I watch the Swedish detective climb out of his Volvo and carry in his shopping, he is looking positively contented. Kenneth Branagh, playing the Swede, is delighted I have arrived on set in time to witness such a moment. "It's very rare!" he says after the scene has been shot. "I had to write the smile on my script so I would remember it."
The low farmhouse behind us is still being warmed by the lazy Swedish sun.

Over four years back when John Abraham had seen good success coming his way in Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, he was all praise for the film's director Vivek Agnihotri. However, the two are now finding each other on a war path, what with their films clashing with each other at the box office. "Yes, it's true", confirms a trade expert, "On the same day when Vivek is bringing his Hate Story, John has announced his debut production Vicky Donor as well. It's a rather surprising development since former was announced first. However, now that the plans have been finalised, it is inevitable that John and Vivek would find themselves in an uncomfortable position." When Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal had released, it had given John Abraham his biggest opening ever for a solo starrer. Though he had enjoyed success before with the likes of multistarrers like Dhoom, Kaal and Kabul Express to name a few,...

Eight years after the first film, audiences are flocking to see Rowan Atkinson's spy sequel; and Disney introduces an old friend to a new generation in 3D
The winner
Conventional wisdom dictates that sequels can suffer at the box office when there is a significantly long gap between releases, but eight years after Johnny English, audiences have embraced the follow-up in huge numbers. Johnny English Reborn opened at the weekend with £4.96m, which compares with a debut of £3.44m for the original Rowan Atkinson spy caper in 2003. Another comparison: Mr Bean's Holiday began its run in 2007 with £4.50m plus £1.94m in previews. The Johnny English Reborn opening number is the best for any film since The Inbetweeners Movie arrived in mid-August.
The runner-up
With Johnny English clearly a hit with families, you might think there wouldn't be much room left in the market for a flick with kiddie appeal,...

Review of Puncture, starring Chris Evans, Mark Kassen, Vinessa Shaw, Brett Cullen, Marshall Bell and Michael Biehn Puncture provides a great service in documenting the corruption surrounding an innocuous-sounding but important medical device: the safety syringe. Yet in the hands of a first-time screenwriter and co-directors, this cinematic retelling of the late Houston attorney Mike Weiss’s (Chris Evans) gripping, uphill battle with insidious corporate forces in the late 90’s falls into such an instantly recognizable formula that much of its entertainment potential is lost. It begins with Vicky (Vinessa Shaw), a pretty, young local ER nurse, who accidentally sticks herself with a needle while attempting to sedate a shaking Pcp addict. Then flash forward three years to the shirtless, rippled Captain America physique of Chris Evans as Matt Weiss, hotshot personal injury lawyer snorting coke and speed-talking through a case in his hotel room...
