If you’ve seen An Education then you already know how excellent it is. The film premiered at Sundance this year and was met with wonderful reviews. It’s a coming of age tale about a girl trying to figure out what to do with her life and her education. While that may sound like a movie you’ve already seen before, it isn’t. It fully deserves its acclaim and it also features one of the year’s best performances from Carrey Mulligan. The film is currently in limited theaters and will be expanding this weekend. With all that said, here’s what the film’s director Lone Scherfig had to say.
Warning: This interview contains heavy spoilers.
How’s this day been for you? Do you like doing all these interviews?
Lone Scherfig: Yes, because I haven’t done much of it yet. Its fine… It would »

Glancing at the premise for this retro, semi-autobiographical yarn from Superbad director Greg Mottola you would be forgiven for assuming that this is the first of many knock-offs taken from the current king of comedy, Judd Apatow, at the hands of his very own mini-me (sort of what happened to Eli Roth after he started banging around with Qt). You would be mistaken. For while this does retain some of his mentor’s stoner sensibilities, it breaks free from the vein of crudeness and bromantic shackles that have come to define the Apatow brand, electing instead to keep things sweet and simple, a decision which ultimately serves this movie very well.
Ironically thanks in large part to the aforementioned Apatow and the catapult that was Superbad, the shadow of Michael Cera looms large over indie starlet, and Mottola stand-in, Jesse Eisenberg; the ganglyness, the knowing deadpan delivery, and the comedic awkward pause. »

“Adventureland” is a great little movie that came out last April, got strong reviews, and then, for reasons that call into question the whole concept of justice, sank from sight after taking in a pathetic $16 million. Happily, the film was released on DVD today, and so those who missed it or ignored it or otherwise showed it no love now have a chance to make things right.
It’s a movie about young love, youthful confusion and dumb summer jobs. This doesn’t begin to sum it up, but then neither did the film’s trailer (which may have been part of the original problem). Kristen Stewart gives a performance in this picture that outclasses anything she’s yet been called upon to do in the vampire franchise with which she’s currently involved. And she’s ideally teamed with Jesse Eisenberg, at his skittery, hyper-intelligent best; and Ryan Reynolds »

Greg Mottola's Adventureland just missed the cut in my mid-year top ten list coming in at #11 just behind Away We Go. I have yet to watch Away We Go again, but this one holds up nicely thanks to a lack of sight gags as a real and down-to-earth romantic comedy rather than merely focusing on raunchy adolescent behavior as a source of audience amusement. Set in 1987, the film centers on a group of twenty-somethings working over the summer at Adventureland, the local amusement park. From there, the story follows James (Jesse Eisenberg) and Em (Kristen Stewart) as they start a complicated summer romance that involves adultery, marijuana, Lisa P. and a couple of eccentric carnies played by "Saturday Night Live" regulars Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. Fun is had by all. What I liked most about this film is how it uses twenty-somethings to tell its story, and I have mentioned this just recently, »

Colin reviews the Greg Mottola comedy.
Superbad director Greg Mottola follows up on that hit with another teen "coming of age" tale via 2009's Adventureland. Set in 1987, we meet James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), a recent college graduate who looks forward to a fun summer in Europe. This goes bye-bye when his dad (Jack Gilpin) gets demoted and his family comes up low on funds. To afford grad school in the fall, James needs to land a summer job.

Chicago – Jesse Eisenberg (“The Squid and the Whale”) and Kristen Stewart (“The Twilight Saga: New Moon”) star in the delightful and expertly written “Adventureland,” a slice of ’80s coming-of-age that truly delivers with clever dialogue, well-rounded characters, and excellent performances. One of the best comedies of the year is now available on Blu-Ray.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0 Eisenberg stars as James Brennan, a guy stuck in that period between college graduation and adulthood. When the money falls through for a planned European vacation, he finds himself at the only job in his hometown, working games at the local theme park called Adventureland. It seems like a dead-end job, but he meets the people who will push him into the next phase of his life - the lovely-but-damaged Em (Kristen Stewart), good friend Joel (Martin Starr), and the kinda sleazy Connell (Ryan Reynolds).

'We kind of have that Vince Vaughn/ Jon Favreau relationship,' actor says.

Fans of "Gossip Girl" may know Sebastian Stan as Carter Baizen, the globe-trekking troublemaker who spiced up Blair's love life for a bit last season and may be hooking up with Serena this fall. But in the meantime, Leighton Meester's real-life boyfriend is also starring alongside Ashton Kutcher, who spices up various women's love lives in the new movie "Spread," out Friday (August 14).
Stan plays Harry, pal to Kutcher's Nikki, a relationship he likens to another onscreen bromance.
"We kind of have that Vince Vaughn/ Jon Favreau relationship," he told MTV News. "We sort of nag each other. We need each other to be in each other's lives."
Much like Vaughn and Favreau in "Swingers," Harry and Nikki are definitely yin and yang. "I kind of balance him out, »

My first introduction to Margarita Levieva came with this year’s Adventureland. She played the sultry Lisa P. and perfectly captured that one girl every single guy wants to get with but realizes isn’t what they want. Right now Margarita is currently tearing up the screen with Spread where she plays Heather, a waitress whom Nikki (Ashton Kutcher) falls in love with. Recently, I had the pleasure of talking with Ms. Levieva about her tenure and if she’ll ever dive back into gymnastics.
You have great chemistry in the movie with you’re leading man in the movie. I was wondering if that was something you worked on or if it was a natural stick for you and Ashton?
I would say it’s a combination of both. He’s not a hard person to get along with, he’s a very good guy. But I think we »

Nikki and Samantha
Spread brings a lot to the table in a pretty unknown movie with a well known cast of actors. Ashton Kutcher, Anne Heche, the beautiful Margarita Levieva and many other familiars. So what is the movie about, well the short of it is this, Nikki (played very well by Ashton Kutcher) is a man-whore! Yes, you heard that right.
Set in a modern-day L.A., we meet Nikki, a foul-mouthed, well-dressed, bad boy from the south who moves to L.A. with the highest of hopes of nailing models and becoming rich and famous. While sleeping his way into high society, Nikki latches on to the stunningly beautiful Sam (Anne Heche) and becomes her live-in boy toy. While continuing to work other women, Nikki lives off the life that Samantha has built on her own.
The story is a sexually charged, relationship-free soap opera between Sam and Nikki. »

Ashton Kutcher has lots of boring simulated sex with fellow tabloid legend Anne Heche in David Macken zie's "Spread," a witless homage to "Shampoo" and "American Gigolo" that's brain-dead on arrival.
Do all cliffside houses in Los Angeles look alike? Or does Heche -- playing a 40-something agent, she is said to have taken Peter Bogdanovich's old spread -- live in the same one as Kevin Spacey in "Shrink" and about 20 other indie flicks?
Such questions -- and fantasies about Mrs. »

How did Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche prepare to shoot their explicit new film Spread? By scurrying to the gym and slimming down. "I did everything I possibly could to give him a run for his money onscreen," Heche, 40, told People at Saturday night's premiere of the movie in East Hampton, N.Y. "I ran and I did a few more sit-ups than normal ... and stayed away from the butter." Kutcher, 31, who plays a hustler sleeping his way into a life of privilege (and seducing Heche's character along the way), likewise dropped weight. "I had just played a movie [Personal Effects] where I played a wrestler, »

Ashton Kutcher had two ladies, Demi Moore and Rumer Willis, on his arm last night at the La premiere of Spread. He spent a few months last year working on the movie, which has him starring as a womanizing man about town. He was also joined by his female costars, Margarita Levieva and Anne Heche, for the stroll down the red carpet before the movie's Aug. 14 release. This morning Ashton was up bright and early to bring The Beautiful Life to the TCAs, where he responded to questions about Mischa, saying she "never missed a day of work" and acts as a guide for the younger cast members.
