According to Boris Becker, Alexander Zverev has matured enough to have a good shot at this year's Roland Garros trophy.
Zverev will contest the Roland Garros final against Carlos Alcaraz, who eliminated world no. 1 to-be, Jannik Sinner, and the German will be the underdog in the final. He will be mostly an underdog because he's facing a player who has won a Grand Slam before and also scored some big wins over him.
Still, the matchup is far from one-sided, as Zverev scored some big wins against the Spaniard as well. In fact, he won the only match they played in Paris two years ago, so he won't be without chances in this final.
His maturity in his game has impressed many, including Boris Becker, who knows Sascha very well. Speaking to Eurosport, Becker assessed Zverev's chances ahead of the tricky final against Alcaraz, admitting that he could see Zverev win the match.

Carlos Alcaraz can be 'nearly impossible to beat' according to former Atp world no. 1, Mats Wilander, who sees his incredible potential.
Alcaraz is already one of the best players in the world as he'll look to win his third Grand Slam trophy on Sunday at the 2024 Roland Garros. The Spaniard is only 21 years old, so he's far from his peak, and that's scary for his opponents.
If he's this good right now, then how good will he be at his peak? That's a good question, but it is very hard to answer. Wilander is convinced that he can be near unbeatable at his peak, which could be true.
At moments, he's near unbeatable right now, and he's not even close to his peak. According to Wilander, who spoke to Eurosport, the key to winning is realizing that he doesn't have to play flashy.

Iga Swiatek has now won Roland Garros three times in a row, a historic feat as she is one of only two other players to have done it.
The first time the Polish player won Roland Garros was during the pandemic in 2020, a surprise run by the then-teenager. She won her second in 2022, and that was only the beginning of the iconic run that is still going on.
She won the next one last year, which was her third overall and second in a row, and completed the historic achievement this year by beating Jasmine Paolini in the final. So what's the historic achievement? It's winning Roland Garros three times in a row because it's only been done twice before by a woman.
The first female player to ever do it was Monica Seles, who won in 1990, 1991, and 1992. The second woman to ever do it was Justine Henin, who won...

Carlos Alcaraz is a versatile player who can play well on all surfaces, something he learned from the game's legends.
The Spaniard is known as a versatile player who can play well on any surface. He might have grown up on clay, but his first Grand Slam came on hard. He even won Wimbledon already, which shows how quickly he can adapt to a surface because he barely played on grass before winning at SW19.
Now, he's in the Roland Garros final with a chance to win a major on clay, further confirming his versatility as a player. He worked towards achieving this because all the legends of the sport played well on all surfaces.
If he wants to become one of the best players in the world, then he has to work towards being good on all surfaces, because Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer all were.

Carlos Alcaraz made history on Friday as he reached his first Roland Garros final with a five-set win over Jannik Sinner.
The Spaniard took a while before he demonstrated his all-court excellence, fending off the challenge of incoming World No. 1 Sinner in a four-hour battle that required the full five sets.
Alcaraz recovered from a 2-6, 0-2 deficit to beat Sinner 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. It was his fifth win in nine meetings against the Italian, and he now has a positive head-to-head record against him.
But this was more than just heading the series. Alcaraz will contest his first Roland Garros final on Sunday against Alexander Zverev, who saw off an ailing Casper Ruud in the second semifinal.
Firstly, Alcaraz continues to follow the great track record of Spanish male players in excelling on the Parisian clay. He will look to join his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and childhood idol,...

In the history of Grand Slam tennis, no player has dominated a tournament in the same vein as Rafael Nadal has at Roland Garros.
The Spaniard's geometric mastery of Court Philippe-Chatriter and his unrivaled resilience on the surface have fittingly earned him the title of King of Clay. Throughout his distinguished career, Nadal has always been the benchmark in clay-court tennis.
When he was introduced to the French public on his debut in 2005 wearing a sleeveless green top and white capri pants, few would have taken him seriously as a potential elite athlete in the making.
But he became a symbol of the French Open for the next two decades, winning a record 14 titles. In this article, we shall take an in-depth look at Nadal's career at the tournament, which defines his legacy.

Iga Swiatek is slowly starting to look very much like legendary Rafael Nadal on clay, but she's not in favour of comparing herself to him.
The young Pole grew up idolizing Nadal, and it's not something she hides. She was in attendance for his most recent match at Roland Garros against Alexander Zverev and was spotted being quite emotional during the match.
She also admitted to crying after seeing his Madrid Open ceremony, so she's very much in tune with the Spaniard. As such, she knows his game and achievements well and completely rejects comparisons between herself and the Spaniard on clay because she considers him a lot better on the surface than she is.
Her dominance is well established, and it's slowly starting to look very much like what Nadal has been capable of doing on the surface.

Jannik Sinner will become world number one after the 2024 Roland Garros, and former legendary player Mats Wilander thinks he'll be number one for a very long time.
The way the Italian player finished last season made many of his rivals realize that he was taking the next step in his career. He elevated his level, won a couple of trophies, and just looked primed to take his game to an even higher level.
That's what happened in Australia, where he won his maiden Grand Slam trophy this year, and he's still playing at that level. He's in the Roland Garros semi-final, which ensured he became the new world number one on Monday.
According to former player Wilander, who spoke to Eurosport, he'll stay there for a while but not in one go because Carlos Alcaraz will likely insert himself in that equation. Nevertheless, Sinner is very worthy of that number-one rank.

For most players who have exited Roland Garros, preparations for the grass-court season have begun, but not for Rafael Nadal, who is still practicing on clay.
Nadal suffered a historic defeat at the 2024 French Open. He lost to fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the first round in straight sets. It was the first time in the Spaniard's career that he had lost an opening match at the clay-court Grand Slam.
The 22-time major champion had reservations about his form and fitness level before the tournament, but he was still very impressed by how he competed, to the extent that he declined the farewell ceremony from the tournament organizers.
That is because Nadal was encouraged by his performance in the match against Zverev and even served for the second set only to lose it in a tie-break. He refrained from confirming whether this was actually his last appearance at the tournament...

Rafael Nadal made an unusual early exit at this year's Roland Garros, but he made sure he lifted a trophy during his recent return to the golf course.
Nadal is the most decorated champion in French Open history, having won the tournament a record 14 times. He also owns a 112-4 win-loss record at the tournament. At his peak, he was virtually unbeatable at the clay-court major.
But the past two years have been very tough for his body as he battled foot and then two hip injuries. He didn't compete at last year's French Open as he decided to undergo surgery to repair the torn flexor muscles in the hip.
This year, Nadal came into Roland Garros with self-doubts and a well-below-peak physical level. He suffered a severe hip injury while competing at his comeback tournament in Brisbane in January and missed the next three months recovering.

Alexander Zverev justified his favorite tag by beating Alex de Minaur in straight sets to secure his fourth consecutive semi-final at the Roland Garros.
The German loves to play in Paris, and booking a fourth consecutive Roland Garros semi-final proves that. His general problem was making the final because he's yet to do it. This year is a pretty decent chance for him as he's playing some really good tennis.
It started with him beating Rafael Nadal in the opening round, and he's kept his level high to navigate some really tricky matchups. In the quarter-final was another one, as he was facing a player who's not necessarily known for being a great clay player.
Even so, de Minaur proved in this match that he belongs on this surface, albeit he's not quite on the level of Zverev yet. The opening set wasn't that strong from either player as both misfired often; however,...

Casper Ruud considers Novak Djokovic to be the second-best clay player of all time, just behind the Roland Garros legend, Rafael Nadal.
The Serbian is one of the best clay tennis players of all time just because he won the Roland Garros in Nadal's era. He also beat the Spaniard at Roland Garros, proving that he can play really well on the surface.
He doesn't really have to have better credentials, because the 14-time French Open winner is the greatest player on clay ever, and it's not even close. He lost only four times in Paris, and two of those losses came to Djokovic.
The Serbian's record at the event even further proves it, as he won it three times in an era when it seemed impossible to do so. One of the best clay players of today, Ruud, agrees with that.

Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur will battle it out for a semi-final spot at the 2024 Roland Garros.
The German hasn't been playing superbly sharp tennis so far in Paris, but he won all of his matches. He played a really good match against Rafael Nadal in the opening round, but these past few have been very inconsistent.
It's not that he's playing poorly; it's that he's not playing consistently enough to avoid having to play long matches. He wins them, but ideally, he wouldn't want to have a late finish like he had against Holger Rune, especially as it was also a five-set match.
His opponent, de Minaur, had an easier time, as he won in four sets and fairly easily over Daniil Medvedev. The Russian had issues with blisters, which clearly bothered him as the match went on, and his tennis kind of disappeared. It was a good...

The countdown to the premiere of Roger Federer's upcoming documentary, 'Twelve Final Days,' has just begun, and a full trailer has now been released.
As the title of the sports documentary suggests, the 100-minute film will chronicle the final 12 days of Federer's professional tennis career, from his emotional retirement message in never-before-seen footage captured on camera to his final match at the Laver Cup.
Prime Video initially announced that it would stream the documentary worldwide on June 20th, and it has now released an official two-minute trailer of the same, in which Federer granted exclusive access to Academy Award-winning director Asif Kapadia and his camera crew to film the final few moments of his career.
The trailer opens with Federer sitting in his living room and saying he is "feeling stressed" as he preps to read his retirement message from a script, the same one he would share on social media.

World No. 48 Pedro Martinez was an Olympics hopeful, but his dream of representing his county in Paris in late July will be unfulfilled, and he's not happy about it.
The Olympic tennis tournament is scheduled to kick off on July 27th, where 64 men will compete in the singles tournament to win gold, silver, and bronze medals. The top 56 players, based on the ranking of June 10th, will automatically qualify for the draw.
One of those who aspired to get a spot in the Olympics was Pedro Martinez, who worked painstakingly to get his ranking inside the Top 50. Although he has met this requirement, another criterion is based on the maximum number of participants per country.
This is restricted to the four best-ranked players in the Top 56 for one nation. Martinez is currently the third-best-ranked Spaniard in the Atp rankings behind World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Andy Murray won't be playing at the Atp Challenger tournament in Surbiton this year after going all the way and winning the trophy last year.
Contrary to last year, the British player won't be starting his grass season early. Murray also played at Roland Garros this year, which he didn't do in the past few seasons. Actually, the last time he played before this year was back in 2020 when he was beaten by Stan Wawrinka.
As we know, history repeats itself, and he was beaten this year by none other than Stan Wawrinka, which ended his Roland Garros story. He's had some good moments in the French capital over the years, though he never lifted the trophy.
Some guys named Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are to blame for that, but overall, he was quite happy with the legacy he left at Roland Garros. Due to playing at the French Open,...

Novak Djokovic's marathon five-set win over Lorenzo Musetti at the 2024 Roland Garros was a landmark achievement.
The Serbian star equaled one of the all-time records in tennis history, which was held by Roger Federer. The victory over the Italian on Saturday (but finished Sunday morning) was Djokovic's 369th match win of his Grand Slam career.
Following a slight change in the day's schedule on Court Philippe-Chatrier, the top seed had to wait at least a few hours before he arrived on the match court.
He came within a set of losing and relinquishing the No. 1 ranking but produced a great comeback in the fourth set before running away with the match down the stretch.
The match set the record for the latest finish at Roland Garros, and Djokovic would exit the venue past 3 a.m. on Sunday. The win takes him on level terms with Federer at the four majors.

Netflix, which for years had claimed that live sports did not factor into its business model, is now a major player in the field, recently snapping up Christmas NFL games. But before committing to established, conventional sports franchises like NFL football games and WWE Raw, the streamer tested the waters with stunt-y, made-for-tv sport events, starting with The Netflix Cup on Nov. 14, 2023.
According to Netflix’s second expansive viewership report released today, The Netflix Cup, a golf match featuring drivers and golfers from its docu series Formula 1: Drive to Survive and Full Swing, logged paltry 700,000 views in the second half of 2023.

On the women’s side, Poland’s Iga Świątek is the clear favorite as she tries for three consecutive French Open wins. Louis Vuitton is reviving its Core Values campaign with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
The campaign, shot by iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz, features the tennis champions, a rare off-the-court pairing, ascending to the summit of Italy’s Dolomites mountain range. The imagery fits the campaign’s tagline: “There are Journeys that turn into Legends.”
The newly released campaign features 42-year-old Federer and 37-year-old Nadal 3,000 meters high, standing tall on the mountain peak. In the imagery, Federer sports a Monogram Christopher backpack while Nadal is pictured with the Monogram Eclipse version.
For the campaign, Nadal and Federer are not competitors but instead companions for one another on the journey up the mountain — a visual metaphor for their careers which have been “marked by deep mutual respect and friendship,” according to the luxury brand.

When The Crow emerged thirty years ago, it changed how audiences could perceive graphic novel adaptations. It was dark, gritty, violent, and well ahead of its time. On top of that, it had one of the best soundtracks of the decade. However, it also spawned some pretty bad sequels. After the release of the last one two decades ago, it seemed just as long for a remake of the original to come to fruition, with multiple actors and directors coming and going. Finally, after all that time, we got to see exactly what The Crow would look like in 2024. The reactions have been, well, let’s just say a little more less than enthused. But what if I told you there was one you probably forgot about? One that has the most bonkers casting out of the entire franchise. One that misses the mark by such a wide margin that...

Tennis fans have a lot to look forward to this week as 22-time Grand Slam champ Rafael Nadal makes his return to the courts at the 2024 Barcelona Open.
The tennis star has not played since January’s Brisbane Internaional, where Nadal suffered a muscle injury during a quarterfinal loss. Though he briefly returned to play Carlos Alcaraz in March, it was for a one-off Netflix special and not an official tour event. Following his appearance at The Netflix Slam, Carlos Alcaraz is expanding his relationship with the streamer.
Alcaraz, who bested Rafael Nadal in the live tennis tournament that aired earlier this month, is the subject of an eponymous docuseries about the 2024 tennis season.
It comes after the Spaniard, who just reached the quarter finals of Indian Wells, created buzz that he was involved further with Netflix after writing Tudum – Netflix’s catchphrase – on a camera after his victory against Fábián Marozsán in the round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Open.
The docuseries comes after it emerged that Netflix had canceled its last tennis docuseries, Break Point, after two seasons.
Filming for Alcaraz started during The Netflix Slam and the series will look at his career on and off the court over the 2024 season.
It will be produced by Spanish production company Morena Films, which is behind Netflix’s upcoming soccer docuseries La Liga.

Jake Paul is getting back in the ring to take on an opponent who will be 58 years old at the time of the fight. But Paul’s opponent isn’t an ordinary fiftysomething: Boxing legend Mike Tyson will do battle against “The Problem Child” in a spectacle that will be broadcast live on Netflix.
The bout is scheduled for July 20, with AT&T Stadium (the home of the Dallas Cowboys) serving as the host venue. Netflix partnered with Most Valuable Promotions to put on the event, which could draw a live, in-person audience of up to 80,000 attendees.
The combatants took opposite paths to their upcoming clash. Paul is a social media star who magnified the influencer boxing trend after a series of strong performances in the ring. His only loss came against fellow influencer Tommy Fury. Tyson, of course, is a former heavyweight champion who claimed fame with a ferocious...

When Andre Agassi was rising the ranks as a professional tennis player — en route to becoming one of the greatest American men to ever hit the circuit — he often felt forced to defend his hometown of Las Vegas.
“I was born and raised here,” Agassi said last Saturday during a press conference to promote The Netflix Slam featuring superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. “When I turned pro in 1,972 years ago, there was about 300,000 people that lived in this town. I would travel the world representing Vegas, having to answer some very basic questions such as, ‘What’s it like to live in a hotel?’ It was like, wait a second, Vegas is more than just a strip [of hotels]. To watch it evolve to a point where now we’re seeing not just sports come here, but we’re seeing the greatest environments for sports to participate in the Super Bowl and Formula 1 now here.
