Cameron Roach has been named Sky’s director of drama and head of Sky Studios. On Tuesday, the executive taking Anne Mensah’s old post unveiled his first two original commissions: “Little Birds” for Sky Atlantic and “Intergalactic” for Sky One.
Starring Juno Temple, “Little Birds” is a playful and intensely evocative adaptation of Anais Nin’s infamous collection of erotic short stories, per Sky, written by Sophia Al-Maria and directed by Stacie Passon.
“Intergalactic” is an action-packed sci-fi drama, set in the 23rd century. Written by Julie Gearey, it follows a crew of fierce female convicts who break free and go on the run, heading … intergalactic, Sky wrote in a media release.

Exclusive: A period drama starring Dirty John star Juno Temple and a sci-fi drama set in the 23rd Century are the first two original commissions from recently promoted Sky drama chief Cameron Roach.

Lucan focuses on the life of Lord Lucan, aka Richard John Bingham, the 7th Earl of Lucan, a suspected murderer who disappeared without trace in 1974. ITV has commissioned the two-part drama which examines the events surrounding the bludgeoning death of Lucan’s children’s nanny Sandra Rivett, after which the Lord escaped a police search. Rory Kinnear (Skyfall) will play Lucan whose whereabouts and eventual fate have remained a mystery for nearly 40 years. The movie will also tell the story of Lucan’s exploits as a member of the Clermont Set, a group of British high-rollers who regularly met in a Mayfair casino. Christopher Eccleston and Michael Gambon also star. Jeff Pope, whose credits include the upcoming Philomena, wrote the screenplay. The drama is produced by ITV Studios/GroupM Entertainment. Exclusive: The CW has picked up two episodes of Perez Hilton Superfan, an unscripted series featuring the celebrity blogger getting close and personal with a different superstar each week. The series of specials was originally commissioned by U.K.’s ITV2 in November with a four-episode order, which premiered in December (trailer below). The two specials acquired by the CW showcase Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Superfan hails from Chris Coelen’s Kinetic Content, Scotland-based Stv Prods., GroupM Entertainment and The Collective. Coelen, Hilton, Alan Clements, Richard Foster, Tony Moulsdale, Steven Grossman, Jennifer Danska and Matilda Zoltowski executive produce. With the acquisition, Superfan joins Kinetic’s two unscripted U.S. broadcast series, recent ABC entry You Deserve It and NBC’s upcoming Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.

ITV2 has given a four-episode order to Perez Hilton Super Fan, an unscripted series featuring the celebrity blogger getting close and personal with a different superstar each week — including Lady Gaga, Kelly Rowland, Katy Perry and Enrique Iglesias. The series, which will premiere on ITV2 in December, hails from Chris Coelen’s Kinetic Content in collaboration with Scotland-based Stv Prods., GroupM Entertainment and The Collective. Kinetic will be shopping the series to U.S. networks in the next few weeks. Internationally, it will be distributed by Drg. Coelen, Hilton, Stv’s Alan Clements, GroupM’s Richard Foster and Tony Moulsdale and The Collective’s Steven Grossman will executive produce along with Kinetic’s Jennifer Danska and Matilda Zoltowski.
