Following his December debut as the 15th iteration of the shapeshifting “Doctor Who” protagonist, Ncuti Gatwa is in the running for this year’s Best Drama Actor Emmy. As it happens, he is set to be joined on the nominations ballot by three actors who preceded him in the role of the Doctor, all of whom (like him) are seeking their very first Primetime Emmy notices.
Challenging Gatwa for inclusion in the 2024 drama lead lineup is Peter Capaldi, who played the 12th Doctor from 2014 to 2017. He currently stars on the new Apple TV+ series “Criminal Record” as Daniel Hegarty, a veteran police chief who clashes with a younger sergeant prying into a supposedly solved murder case.
Gatwa is concurrently eligible for a Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor nomination for Apple TV+’s “Masters of the Air,” on which he portrays real-life World War II Air Force officer Robert Daniels.

House of the Dragon was given an almost impossible task. Game of Thrones is considered a cultural phenomenon; it has raised the bar for quality and changed the way TV series are produced. However, all fans know that the first rule of this fandom is not to talk about the latest seasons.
The series' controversial finale, which was not supported by the original source material, undermined the audience's trust in the universe. It took a lot of skill and effort to fish something worthwhile out of the ashes and ruins that Benioff and Weiss left behind.
The first promotional footage of the series left conflicting impressions, and casting decisions raised questions. Some fans awaited House of the Dragon armed with skepticism, bias, and a willingness to bury the project under tons of criticism. But the first episode came out, and for many, skepticism gave way to surprise and then excitement.

Jared Leto’s Morbius underwhelmingly performed at the global box office on its theatrical release but gained momentum when released online. Whatever the outcome went, the lead actor has already expressed his opinion on reprising his role which aligns with Fast X star, Tyrese Gibson.
Jared Leto as Morbius
The latter is currently occupied with promoting his new project, Bloodline Killer but when it comes to joining the Spider-Man Universe, he’s more open to the idea, which doesn’t fit well among the fandom.

Jared Leto’s tenure as Dr. Michael Morbius was set to explore more of the Spider-Man Universe in detail but Morbius didn’t turn out to be a promising project. Although the movie was unable to captivate audiences or critics’ interest, the movie’s post-credit scenes hinted at an installment.

Although it may have fared enough to make up for any losses, Morbius is still unarguably one of the most critically panned movies of all time from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite holding hot talents like Michael Keaton, Tyrese Gibson, and Jared Leto, the film still underperformed among viewers because of things ranging from its storyline to the character arcs to not delivering perfectly.
Morbius (2022).
That being said, one of the major reasons why the film failed to serve its audience’s expectations was because it cut off some of those brutal scenes that could have garnered a lot of fan support. One of these included Gibson’s crazy fight scene as well, which was shown in the trailer but never made it to the final cut — something that inevitably left even the actor disappointed.

Warning: this Doctor Who review contains spoilers.
In the parlance of the times, we are so back.
After the three triumphant Tennant/Tate specials, I’ll confess that “The Church on Ruby Road” left me feeling slightly apprehensive. While an effective showcase for Ncuti Gatwa’s charisma, as a forecast for the new era I found it to be overly frenetic, bordering on slapdash. Christmas specials are always going to be broader affairs, but this one frequently felt like a first draft held together with little more than the raw enthusiasm of all involved.
Happily, “Space Babies” is more solid in every respect. It’s well structured, economical and – crucially – very entertaining. And while I doubt it will be topping many all-time favourite lists, that’s fine, because that’s not really its job.

The highly acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon surrounding the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty, has made waves with its great mix of action, drama, and fantasy, which appealed to a wide range of viewers. Further, adding an element of excitement alongside standout performances from Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy, the spin-off featured legendary stories about great houses from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood.
A still from House of the Dragon
Standing side by side with House Targaryen, House of the Dragon focused on another family, the Velaryons, helmed by the Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon, and his wife, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. Turning them central to this story, House Velaryons is distinctly portrayed as a Black family. Although people assume this was done solely for the sake of inclusivity, this deliberate creative choice is actually more than just for a diverse cast.

The Guinness World Records once listed the BBC’s Doctor Who as the “most successful Science Fiction television series in the world,” and, in November 2023, the show turned an impressive 60 years old. Doctor Who originally ran from 1963 to 1989 and was relaunched in 2005.
Despite its grand age, it’s not demonstrating any signs of slowing down.
Former showrunner Russell T Davies (fresh from his success with It’s A Sin) returns to the franchise following last year’s Christmas specials with fan-favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate. With the 14th season — which, for the first time ever, will premiere simultaneously worldwide thanks to Disney+ (on Friday at 7 p.m.) — Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education and Barbie) officially becomes the newest incarnation of the errant Time Lord.
But, what about those who have already played the role of The Doctor (a.k.a. Doctor Who) over the past seven decades? Below is your 101 to all of the lead actors.

It’s my obligatory caveat that I am not a Doctor Who “fan,” per se. I’m much more Who-curious.
While I was traumatized by Tom Baker’s Doctor in childhood, I’ve happily sampled the introduction of each new Doctor since the Christopher Eccleston reboot in 2005. After two or three episodes, I tend to tune out, checking back in at key or particularly acclaimed installments. For those keeping score, David Tennant’s Doctor was the one I watched the most of in total, though I stuck with Matt Smith for the longest in the beginning (Karen Gillan’s Amy Pond was responsible for a lot of that). Peter Capaldi, probably the Doctor I was most excited for based on previous credits, did the least for me.
Draw your own conclusions.

Jeopardy! fans weren’t the only ones who noticed a larger-than-usual number of triple-stumper clues in the Tuesday, May 7 episode. The winner of that night’s game told viewers on the Jeopardy! Reddit discussion board that she noticed the high volume as well while playing, noting that even though she won, she’s “not particularly happy” with how she played. It’s lucky, in that case, that her win allows her to play again and try to redeem herself. Playing in this matchup were returning champ Matthew Smith, a paramedic from New York City; Allison Gross, a data scientist from Cleveland, Ohio; and Daniel King, a Brown University graduate from Parsippany, New Jersey. Their scores were pretty neck-and-neck by the time of the first break, but Gross took the lead by the end of the first round. At that point the scores were Gross with $5,800, Smith with $2,600, and King with...

When Doctor Who returned in 2005, it was with Russell T Davies at the helm. Next month, the series will once again be relaunched with a new season 1 and, you guessed it, Davies calling the shots.
History has repeated itself, and following in the footsteps of Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker, and Tenant for a second time, will be Ncuti Gatwa.
He first played the Doctor in last year's 60th anniversary and Christmas specials, will take centre stage alongside Millie Gibson, and makes history as the first openly queer Black lead Time Lord.
There's inevitably been backlash to the casting - despite Gatwa stealing the show in his previous appearances - but the Rwandan-born, Scotland-raised actor isn't sweating the haters.

Game of Thrones s*x scenes were always considered problematic, especially since several actors had opened up about the demeaning nature of them. However, the show crossed all lines with one particularly disgusting scene in Season 5 Episode 6. Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark is subjected to brutal r*pe by her new husband, the sadistic Ramsay Bolton, in this episode. The scene was not only unwatchable but also problematic on multiple levels, prompting a fan outcry.
One Game of Thrones scene involving Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark received widespread criticism from fans
The infamous ‘Black Wedding’ episode was not a part of George R.R. Martin’s original books. Sansa Stark had already been through enough trauma in the series and another torture/r*pe scene did not add anything to her character arc.

Did you know that Matt Smith and Grace Jabbari are friends?
The 41-year-old House of the Dragon actor was seen sharing a hug with Grace after getting lunch at Gemma restaurant on Sunday (April 21) in New York City.
During the meal, Matt was seen sitting next to model Sierra Plowden. He previously was seen enjoying a night out with her back in July 2023 in London.
After lunch, Matt and Grace embraced before saying goodbye.
For those who don’t know, Grace used to be in a relationship with actor Jonathan Majors. He was found guilty of third degree assault and guilty of harassment in a case brought against him by Grace after he was arrested for a domestic dispute in March 2023.
In a new lawsuit that was just filed, Grace accused him of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution and defamation from incidents dating between 2021 and 2023.

As well as a celebrated screenwriter and a Madman With a Pen™, former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat is a cheeky, cheeky monkey. When quizzed in January 2024 by Radio Times about potentially returning to write for the show, he said the following:

When Ncuti Gatwa makes his first appearance as the 15th Doctor in the science-fiction series “Doctor Who,” he isn’t wearing any pants.
In a 60th-anniversary special released in December, the previous Doctor — played by series icon David Tennant — subverts the show’s long-standing practice of regeneration: Instead of simply transforming into the next Doctor, he literally splits in half, bringing Gatwa’s Doctor into the world alongside him. In the process, the two divide the clothes of Tennant’s Doctor between them, leaving Gatwa in nothing but a dress shirt and a pair of tighty-whities.
“Oh, my God, that first costume fitting!” Gatwa says, bursting into an infectious fit of laughter. It’s a frequent occurrence as he speaks with Variety on a chilly March day over lemon ginger tea at the Langham hotel in London. “I was like, ‘Are you joking?!’ They showed me a pair of [underwear] and...

Filmmaker/Photographer Aleksandra Kingo’s debut short film An Ode To Procrastination is a fun and playful look at the art of doing nothing. The film explores procrastination in all its forms, opening up the conversation around fundamental fears that every artist has experienced at one point or another. On a visual level, Kingo’s background in photography and commercial filmmaking comes through in the whimsical cinematography, diorama-like production design and soft colour palette. It’s a film Dn was delighted by when we first saw it at Conero Film + Adv last year and are now excited to present to audiences through its online premiere. You can also learn more about the making of An Ode to Procrastination through our conversation with Kingo below where she delves into working with trusted collaborators, her exacting approach to set design, and the process of using her phone to shoot an entire rehearsal prior to production.

Game of Thrones was one of the biggest shows on the air in the past decade. Based on A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin, the popularity of the show was so great that it became the biggest phenomenon of this century.
Adapted by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the show’s run came to an end in 2019. Unfortunately, the majority of the fans did not find the ending satisfactory, and the showrunners faced extreme backlash for some of their choices. However, Benioff’s run-in with Homeland Security at Lax was a sign that not everyone shared the majority’s opinion on the finale.

We've known for a few days now that Doctor Who, with Ncuti Gatwa at the controls of the Tardis as the Fifteenth Doctor, will be back on our screens on 11 May. To keep us all anticipating that fact, the show has dropped a brand new trailer for the new series. Have a look, but try to avoid stepping on any butterflies, won't you?
Yes, the new trailer certainly relishes the expanded scope and scale of the series thanks to the Disney+ partnership. The Doctor has always been known for whooshing around in space and time, but now the show can keep up in a visual sense with all the top quality concepts and chatter we expect from Doctor Who with Russell T. Davies at the helm.

Prince Harry has made the US his home since moving there in the summer of 2020 and purchasing a $14 million mansion in the expensive and gated community of Montecito, California.
Since then, sources say that he’s adjusted well to living in the States. In fact, he loves it there so much that he’s even thought about naturalizing.
But all this could change in the blink of an eye if the 39-year-old Duke’s immigration status was rescinded. A conservative think-tank in the US might just turn out to be the bane of Harry’s US dreams.

Combining George R.R. Martin’s expansive imagination with Warner Bros. Discovery’s equally expansive marketing budget has turned out to be one of pop culture’s great cheat codes.
HBO has announced the official release date for House of the Dragon season 2 and it’s done so in particularly grand fashion. That’s because the announcement was accompanied not just by one trailer but by two. In honor of the show’s plot about the Dance of the Dragons civil war fought between two Targaryen factions, HBO is inviting viewers to choose the trailer experience that most closely corresponds to their “side.”
First up is the “Green Trailer” for those who are inclined to support Aegon II’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) claim to the Iron Throne.
Then there is the “Black Trailer” for supporters of Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) on Dragonstone, Viserys I’s eldest daughter and the would-be first female monarch of the Seven Kingdoms.

House of the Dragon season two dropped dueling trailers Thursday, prompting fans to choose between the black trailer, focusing on Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), or the green one, which puts Alicent (Olivia Cooke) at the forefront.

HBO has released not one, but two trailers for the upcoming House Of The Dragon season 2 and revealed when it’ll premiere.
If you’ve been patiently waiting for some more concrete news on House Of The Dragon season 2, we have some good news for you.
HBO has released two new trailers for the upcoming season and given it a release date.
The new season will air on HBO starting from 16th June in the US and 17th June in the UK on Sky Atlantic. UK viewers can either watch the episode at 2am at the same time as our American friends or watch it in the usual primetime spot at 9pm.
Now then, the trailers.
The reason there’s two is that viewers can choose their side between Green and Black, aimed to represent the conflict between King Aemon and Queen Rhaenyra, both of whom believe they have the birthright to the throne.

The second season suffered some delay due to last year’s dual union strikes, but wait no more. The Green and Black trailers showcase this season’s story from the...

Here’s the season 2 synopsis: Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively. As each side believes theirs to be the rightful seat on the Iron Throne, the Green and Black trailers reflect those two perspectives in separate yet complementary halves of the same story. “House of the Dragon” is asking viewers to pick a side in Season 2: Rhaenyra’s black faction or Alicent’s green team?
HBO dropped two unique trailers Thursday for Season 2, which premieres on June 16. One trailer focuses on Rhaenrya, Prince Daemon and their forces on Dragonstone, and the other is centered on the King’s Landing team of Alicent, her father Otto and her children King Aegon and Prince Aemond. Taking place 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” will officially mark the start of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
In the wake of the Season 1 finale, in which Aemond murders Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon, war is imminent in Westeros. The blacks and the greens are both gathering their forces, dragons and new allies to face off in a bloody, fiery battle to the death.
