Samantha Geimer, who Roman Polanski raped as a 13-year old in 1977, spoke out for the first time since Polanski was arrested last year in Switzerland on charges he fled the United States rather than go to prison for that crime.
Appearing on 'Larry King Live,' Geimer told King she was glad Swiss authorities ultimately decided not to extradite Polanski back to the U.S. to face charges.
"Yes, I'm very relieved. Just the arrest brought such a ruckus into my life," the 46-year old told King. "I'm sure his coming back would just be a thousand times worse ... I don't want to see him go to trial, and I certainly don't want to be a part of that if it happens."

At a public hearing yesterday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Chad Hummel, the lead defense attorney in Roman Polanski's criminal matter, wanted it known that although he had recently asked for an in-chambers meeting to confer about one particular issue of "great sensitivity," he had never suggested anything else shouldn't be discussed in open court. Judge Peter Espinoza didn't seem to regard the issue as all that sensitive when he nonchalantly revealed Hummel was alluding to a witness who soon might become unavailable to testify. Other than Espinoza suggesting the unnamed person's testimony could be recorded "for posterity," thus dismissing Hummel's claim an evidentiary hearing must be scheduled as soon as possible, nothing else was mentioned about the mystery witness before court was adjourned.
