Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

Captain America: Brave New World is nine months away from swooping into theaters, but more promo art has surfaced today which reveals that Sam Wilson will don a helmet in the movie.
Given how perfect Sam's Captain America suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was, there's already been some disappointment among fans that the hero is now basically wearing his Falcon goggles with Steve Rogers' old suit.
This headgear is another big departure and doesn't look that different from Ant-Man's helmet. However, we see a breathing tube which suggests Sam will wear this during a high-altitude battle of some sort.
There's also a nod to Captain America's "A" on the helmet, though it's relatively subtle.
Marvel Studios runs the risk of this feeling like The Falcon wearing Captain America's suit, and the pressure is on to deliver here with Captain America: Brave New World having to follow in...

Marvel Studios has a history of hiring some of the most talented directors in the film industry. From the Russo Brothers and James Gunn to Taika Watiti, James Mangold, and even Sam Raimi, their lineup is certainly impressive. All these directors have helped create masterpieces, bit by bit helping the superhero franchise become what it is today.
Marvel has had excellent directors
Knowing how many big-name directors have been a part of the franchise, many fans were not surprised when certain rumors started to float around the internet—rumors regarding the director of the upcoming and highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4.
Unfortunately for those who believed and wanted the whispers to be true, an insider seems to have shut these speculations down very quickly with a rather rude awakening.

While fans are desperately waiting to finally see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson embrace his new look as the Captain in his upcoming solo movie Captain America 4, they aren’t too sure about Danny Ramirez’s beloved character Joaquín Torres. In fact, if anything, they are deeply worried about the latter’s character in the movie after recent updates about Captain America: Brave New World.
Captain America: Brave New World (2025) | Marvel Studios
A major reason behind this reaction from fans is the superhero costume that Ramirez would be sporting in the film after his character replaced Wilson to become the new Falcon. And as much as they hate to admit it, seeing him in his new look has fans feeling that he looks more like the Vulture from the Spider-Man saga than anywhere close to how perfect Wilson looked as the superhero.

In addition to teasing the audience with footage from Deadpool and Wolverine, an F-bomb-dropping Kevin Feige introduced Anthony Mackie to give CinemaCon a taste of Captain America: Brave New World.

New-ish Cap, same old shield.
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson steps into his own as the star-spangled Avenger in the first look at “Captain America: Brave New World” that Disney shared during its CinemaCon presentation on Thursday. It sees the newly-minted Captain America saving Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the president of the United States, from a group of brain-washed assassins. The action-packed scene finds Wilson engaged in hand-to-hand combat, while dodging bullets as he desperately tries to rescue the leader of the free world from a daring attack on the White House.
The first look at the Marvel movie also showed Wilson getting an offer from Ross that he might not be able to refuse. “I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers,” the President tells the patriotic superhero.
The sequel picks up after the events of the Disney+ streaming series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Kevin Feige and Anthony Mackie traveled to Las Vegas to introduce Captain America: Brave New World, the Marvel Studios movie that puts the actor in the starring role.
Feige called back to Captain America: The Winter Soldier as something fans still talk about, because it was a relatively grounded action thriller. He said Cap 4 would follow that tradition and showed a new clip.
Mackie has played hero Sam Wilson since 2014’s The Winter Soldier and appeared in multiple Marvel movies before headlining his own series, the Disney+ show Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which bowed in 2021. It told the story of Sam coming to grips with the idea of him becoming Captain America as a Black man in America after his friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) retires.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier found Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) teaming up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) for a global adventure that tested their abilities and patience. The Disney+ series concluded with Wilson finally taking on the mantle of Captain America, setting the stage for Captain America: Brave New World. However, Mackie told RadioTimes that he’s a little disappointed that we won’t be getting season 2 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
“The Falcon and [the] Winter Soldier, I really enjoyed doing that show,” Mackie said. “I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out. Captain America: Brave New World is going to be released on February 14, 2025, as things stand now as one of the first movies of the MCU’s Phase Five. The movie will star Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, taking over from Steve Rogers, who was played by Chris Evans in the earlier movies. Now, while Mackie will be joined by some old and some new faces, it seems that MCU veterans Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl won’t be returning as Bucky Barnes and Baron Zemo, respectively. The news comes from a recent interview Mackie gave to RadioTimes.

Among the slew of upcoming MCU projects, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ stands out for its tumultuous production journey. Originally slated for release in 2024, a combination of the SAG-AFTRA strike and extensive reshoots has pushed its debut by a year. Details regarding the plot remain scarce, with only a brief synopsis released thus far. Initially, Serpent Society & King Cobra were set to appear as minor villains, but recent rumors suggest their removal from the movie entirely.
Despite the fluctuating lineup, some characters from previous ‘Captain America’ projects are confirmed to return, including Joaquin Torres, portrayed by Danny Ramirez. Joaquin, who debuted in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ served as Sam Wilson’s Air Force liaison and later proved instrumental in aiding Wilson’s endeavors, eventually stepping into the role of Falcon himself.
A well-established character in the comics, Joaquin Torres’s portrayal in the MCU is eagerly anticipated.

Out of all the roles he has taken on to date, the one that most perfectly fits Chris Evans is that of Marvel’s fan-favorite superhero, Captain America. Tim Blake Nelson is excited about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since 2008 when he played Samuel Sterns / The Leader in The Incredible Hulk. The Leader returns to the MCU in Captain America: Brave New World, which sees Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson picking up the shield after Steve Rogers passed the torch. Whoops! Thanks to a new Amazon mail advert, Anthony Mackie’s brand-new Captain America suit for Captain America: Brave New World is on display. American Bald Eagle-eyed fans posted the promo featuring Sam Wilson’s stylish Captain America suit, revealing the star-spangled hero’s upcoming look for the forthcoming Marvel film. In the promo, Sam Wilson sports a royal blue suit with red and white stripes across his torso. With Cap’s classic shield in hand, it appears as if Sam’s wings have a new blue and white paint job to match the theme. Oh, and remember Sam’s red-tinted glasses. He needs to protect his eyes from splattered insects when he’s flying through the sky. No one wants to pick severed wings out of their eye ducts when they’re trying to save the planet.

It’s been over four years since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, passed his iconic shield to his friend and teammate Sam Wilson. The ending of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ gave Steve Rogers a happy ending and opened the way for Anthony Mackie’s Falcon to become the next Captain America. However, as we’ve seen in 2021’s ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ Sam initially refused to take the shield but ultimately decided to become Steve Rogers’ successor after it became obvious that the US government wouldn’t let the shield stay in the museum.

With just a single, relaxed, behind-the-scenes pic posted on Instagram by Anthony Mackie, everything changes for Captain America’s next big-screen MCU outing. Formerly known as New World Order, the fourth Cap movie will now proudly bear the title Brave New World, as shown on the back of the chairs in Mackie’s on-set snap. At first glance it’s a superficial change, but it’s probably a sensible idea to move away from a phrase thrown around by George Bush Sr in the ‘90s and embrace something a little more Shakespearean.
‘O brave new world, that has such people in’t.’ So says Miranda in The Tempest. She was, obviously enough, not talking about the cast of Cap 4, but if she had been, she wouldn’t have been wrong. "Thunderbolts" has become the second Marvel Cinematic Universe feature to halt filming amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, Deadline reported late Thursday. (Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed shortly thereafter.) The film, which was set to enter production in Atlanta, Georgia in about three weeks in June 2023, will now roll cameras after the writers strike has ended.
Earlier in May, the Mahershala Ali-led "Blade" -- currently slated for September 2024 -- became the first Marvel Studios project to hit pause. When we next see Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’ll have a new gig, and it’s a mighty impressive one. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with Entertainment Weekly about all things Marvel earlier today, and while talking about Captain America: New World Order, he mentioned that Ross will be the President of the United States in the movie.
“This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross,” Kevin Feige said. “He’s the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible.

He'll star alongside Harrison Ford (who takes over the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from the late William Hurt) and Tim Blake Nelson as The Incredible Hulk's Samuel Sterns (Aka The Leader), plus Danny Ramirez as Falcon's Joaquin Torres, who looks set to inherit the Falcon role from Wilson and Carl Lumbly as the show's Isiah Bradley,...

Atlanta and Space Jam: New Legacy actor Xosha Roquemore is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: New World Order. Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) is directing the fourth film in Marvel’s Captain America series from a script by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Smoke on the street implies Roquemore is playing a pivotal role in the sequel starring Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America.
Details about Roquemore’s role remain a mystery. However, reports suggest cameras will roll on Captain America: New World Order on May 3, 2023. Roquemore joins Tim Blake Nelson (Samuel Sterns), Harrison Ford (Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley), and Shira Haas (Sabra) in the sequel as a part of Marvel’s bold plans to continue the MCU.

Harrison Ford is stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The legendary actor will step in as Thaddeus ”Thunderbolt” Ross, replacing the late William Hurt, for 2024’s ”Captain America: New World Order” starring Anthony Mackie.
The fourth “Captain America” movie follows the events of the 2021 Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”; that show’s head writer, Malcolm Spellman, wrote the screenplay with “Faws” staff writer Dalan Musson. Julius Onah is directing.
It does not appear, however, that Ford is set to star in “Thunderbolts,” Marvel’s anti-hero team-up film that is scheduled to immediately follow “Captain America 4.”
Hurt first played Ross in Marvel Studios’ second feature film ever, 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” as a U.S. Army general who is instrumental in transforming scientist Bruce Banner (then played by Edward Norton) into the Hulk; Ross then spends the rest of the movie hunting for Banner. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame, bringing Captain America’s arc to a well-deserved conclusion. The events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier found Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America as it explored the implications of a Black man being given that role. Anthony Mackie will be bringing his version of Cap to the big screen with Captain America: New World Order, but there are bound to be comparisons between the two heroes.
Related Anthony Mackie praises She-Hulk for doing something different in the MCU
Anthony Mackie recently spoke with Men’s Journal, where he explained how his version of Captain America will be quite different from Chris Evans’.
Mine will be different. What you have to realize about Sam—he’s a superhero who is not really a superhero. There’s no secret serum. There’s no this or that.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is in the midst of its run on Disney+, and it’s certainly different from what we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. The series stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, a 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. The series has received plenty of praise from audiences, including a few of She-Hulk’s fellow members of the MCU. The Falcon and the Winter Solider star Anthony Mackie told IMDb just how great he thinks the She-Hulk series is.
She-Hulk was great, being the last series to come out on Disney+. You know, it was just different than their norm. You could see Marvel giving writers the opportunity to spread their wings and look at the Marvel universe in a different way.

The cast of ‘Captain America: New World Order’ has been revealed at Marvel’s D23 Expo presentation. Anthony Mackie, who has played superhero Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” is leading the film as the new Captain America for the first time.
The cast of the fourth ‘Captain America’ movie will also include Shira Haas as Sabra, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, as well as Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, who appeared in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ series, as Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley, respectively, reports Variety.
Nelson’s The Leader was last seen in the 2008 film “The Incredible Hulk” as Samuel Sterns, beginning his transformation into the iconic Hulk villain.
As the “New World Order” team took the stage, director Julius Onah called the film a “paranoid thriller.”

Back at Comic-Con, Disney & Marvel Studios revealed that a Thunderbolts movie would be hitting theatres on July 26th, 2024, and now, at D23, we’ve gotten an official cast list. Sebastian Stan leads the adventure as The Winter Soldier and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, aka the new Black Widow. Her adopted dad, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, is along for the ride, as is Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster, but the rest of the team is where it gets really interesting. Wyatt Russell’s John Walker (aka US Agent) from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Hannah John Kamen’s Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp make up the rest of the team. At the D23 panel, Stan joked about Winter Soldier is the most stable member of the group.
In the comics, the Thunderbolts are a team of anti-heroes consisting of mostly reformed supervillains.

Some very unexpected news coming out of Disney's D23 Expo today, particularly for fans of character actor Tim Blake Nelson and 2008's "The Incredible Hulk." During the Marvel Studios presentation at the convention it was revealed that Nelson, who first appeared as Samuel Sterns in the 2008 Marvel Cinematic Universe entry, is making his long-awaited return. But not in a "Hulk" movie! Rather, Nelson will be playing a villain in "Captain America: New World Order."
It was revealed that Nelson's Samuel Sterns, who helped Bruce Banner attempt to cure himself, will transform into the villain the Leader from the pages of Marvel Comics. This was sort of teased in Nelson's final moments on screen in "The Incredible Hulk," with some of the tainted Hulk blood dripping on his face, making it large and swollen, much like the character in the comics. Leader first appeared in "Tales to Astonish" #62 back in 1964 and...

Natalia Dyer is starring alongside Rachel Keller and Danny Ramirez in “Chestnut,” a queer love triangle drama that marks the feature film debut of director Jac Cron. Shot on location and named for the epicenter of queer culture in Philadelphia, Chestnut, the film quietly wrapped production this month. It’s eyeing an early 2022 festival premiere.
Dyer stars as a recent graduate who becomes unexpectedly entangled in a relationship with a man and a woman during an aimless summer after college, with Keller and Ramirez forming the other corners of the love triangle. The film also stars Chella Man (HBO Max’s “Titans”) and Caleb Eberhardt, and features a score

Exclusive: Danny Ramirez (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) has signed on to produce and star in thriller To Die Sane.
The genre pic centers on a brutally effective Mexican-American Ice agent who becomes increasingly paranoid and unhinged after a detained young immigrant commits suicide and his fellow agents fall victim one by one to El Cuco, the mythic child-snatching figure of Latino lore.
Moises Zamora and Carlos Cisco wrote the script; Ramirez will produce alongside Zamora and Bianca Quesada. A director for the project, from Zone One Productions, has not yet been disclosed.
Ramirez recently co-starred opposite Anthony Mackie in Disney+ and Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In the hit superhero series, which on Tuesday scored five Emmy nominations, he portrays Marvel character Joaquin Torres. The actor will next appear opposite Tom Cruise in anticipated Paramount sequel Top Gun: Maverick.

Photo: ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’/Disney+ ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ aired its season finale this Friday. The show, much like its MCU original series predecessor, ‘WandaVision,’ has further implications for both what the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe has previously set up, and where it is planning to go in the future on both the big and silver screens. The show’s six-episode run gave its fans almost five hours of content revolving around the journeys of Sam Wilson (The Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) in a post ‘Avengers: Endgame’ MCU. With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier serving up its finale this Friday, April 23, Danny Ramirez is quite excited about any possible future as Joaquin Torres — or, even better, as the Air Force officer’s costumed alter ego.
Playing Sam Wilson/The Falcon’s fresh-faced handler/intel officer “so far has been such a joy,” Ramirez tells TVLine. “It’s all been positive memories being a part of this story, that I would 100 percent say yes [to more]. Without a doubt, no questions asked. Where do I sign?”

(Here there be spoilers for “Truth,” the fifth episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on Disney+)
Things are finally coming to a head in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” with the Flag Smashers making their move against the Global Repatriations Council and a rogue Captain America ready to take them down along with anybody else who might breathe aggressively in his direction. And it sure seems like Sam (Anthony Mackie) is just about ready to take on the mantle of Captain America.
But he doesn’t just seem ready — you could argue he’s been ready for a while. But now he actually seems willing, as well, for the very first time.
There’s one big problem, though: The Falcon suit was destroyed near the beginning of the episode during Sam and Bucky’s fight with the superpowered John Walker (Wyatt Russell). But help just might be on the way with that.

(Warning: The following post contains spoilers for Disney+’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” through the fifth episode)
We’re nearing the end of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on Disney+ now, with only a single episode left to go. And this week’s episode gave us a hint that maybe the job of Falcon won’t stay vacant too long now that it looks like Sam Wilson is about to become the new Captain America.
Like The Wanda Maximoff Show, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is doing its duty to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe by bringing back old bad guys we’d forgotten about and setting up new heroes who will no doubt be important in the future. And just when we thought it might have forgotten about ole Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), they give us a scene this week that indicate his destiny might arrive sooner than we thought.

“They will never let a Black man be Captain America. And even if they did, no self-respecting Black man would ever wanna be.”
These words, spoken by Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) halfway through “Truth,” the fifth episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” rather explicitly state the central point of conflict thus far in the series: Sam’s ongoing struggle with accepting the mantle Steve Rogers passed down to him. That it took this long to get to this point might be the single greatest factor holding “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” back from being a really great limited series.
Much has been made about how knowing its best entry point can be critical to a show’s success, and while “Truth” didn’t feel like a pilot, it definitely felt like an early episode setting the table for an...

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a chance for two former sidekicks to finally take the spotlight. We already know that part of the story will focus on Sam Wilson's reluctance to succeed his pal Steve Rogers as Captain America, but if and when that happens, what will happen to his current identity as the Falcon? Within the first scenes of the first episode, the show is already hinting at answers for that, too.
The first sequence of the show follows Sam on a rescue mission, trying to get an American soldier out of the clutches of a group of mercenaries. Sam does the heavy lifting in the air, but he's got help on the ground: a young soldier named Lt. Torres (played by Danny Ramirez). By the end of the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we get our first glimpse of villains the Flag-Smashers in action. The Flag-Smashers are an antinationalist organization that believe the world was better during the blip and "want a world that's unified without borders." The group - who are introduced to us via Sam Wilson's friend Joaquin Torres - have comic-book ties to a supervillain named Karl Morgenthau, who uses the moniker Flag-Smasher and heads up an antinationalist terrorist organization known as U.L.T.I.M.A.T.U.M.
In the comics, Karl Morgenthau is driven to become Flag-Smasher after his diplomat father is trampled to death in a riot at the Latverian Embassy. He believes the world would be better off if it did away with the concept of countries and nationalism in order to quell feelings of superiority tied to certain nationalities.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is off to an action-packed start, and already bringing in some familiar faces. Obviously, there’s one in particular that we need to touch on immediately.
We knew that “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” would tie into “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” considering, well, “The Winter Soldier” is half of the series’ name. But in the opening minutes of the series premiere, we see that Bucky Barnes isn’t the only character from Cap’s sequel that’s returned.
If you found yourself thinking “That guy who hijacked the helicopter looks Really familiar,” it’s because yes, we’ve met him before. His name is Georges Batroc (played by Georges St-Pierre), and he was the mercenary/pirate that Captain America fought on the Lemurian Star.

Now that Secret Empire is finally underway, it’s consistently succeeded in sparking controversy and inciting much debate among the comic book community with each bold creative decision taken. But, then again, such a thing is to be expected when it’s revealed that Captain America is the head of Hydra and is trying to take over the world. In fact, this past weekend was marked by seeing displeased fans burning the Secret Empire Free Comic Book Day title that saw Rogers be deemed worthy of wielding Mjolnir. The unfortunate thing, however, is that had anyone actually taken the time to read this series, they’d realize how incredible it’s been so far.
As it so happens, rebellions against Hydra aren’t exclusive to the real world, as Black Widow will be rounding up...

This review is based off a volume that collects Captain America: Sam Wilson #14-17 and Captain America (1968) #344.
If you’re an avid reader of comic books, you’re no doubt well aware that the past decade has seen its share of younger heroes stepping up to claim the mantle of their mentors, sometimes to the chagrin of staunch purists. Marvel has especially championed this method of storytelling in recent years, with Captain America: Sam Wilson being a prime example.
To be honest, I actually find stuff like this to be very appealing, but mostly when it occurs organically and fits well with the established mythos of the relevant hero. Past examples include Dick Grayson becoming Batman and Bucky Barnes becoming Captain America. Having mentioned the latter, you could argue this as having been done before, but at least it makes sense that Sam be worthy of wielding the shield as opposed to,...
