"My entire life people tried to rattle my cage, to force me to explode from the inside out." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for an indie drama titled Bomb City, based on a true story of a punk rock hate crime in Amarillo, Texas in 1997. The title Bomb City refers to the name of a rundown venue where a guy known as Brian Deneke hosts punk shows. After losing a football game, high school jocks from a group known as the "white-hatters" start a big street fight with the punks. Dave Davis stars as Brian, and the cast includes Glenn Morshower, Logan Huffman, Lorelei Linklater, Eddie Hassell, Henry Knotts, Maemae Renfrow, Dominic Ryan Gabriel, Luke Shelton, Cody Cates, with Marilyn Manson. This looks like a damn good film, with what seems to be a stellar performance from Dave Davis. Worth a watch. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jameson (Jamie) Brooks' Bomb City,...

*full disclosure: a DVD copy of this title was won in a contest from the horror website Igorslab.com. Director: A.D. Calvo. Writers: Alyssa Alexander, A.D. Calvo, Nevada Grey and Scott Kittredge. Cast: Inbar Lavi, Steven Grayhm, Eddie Hassell, Holland Roden and John Lee Ames. This viewer has seen a number of Argentinian director A.D. Calvo's works. From The Other Side of the Tracks (2008) to the Melancholy Fantastic (2011), this director has had an up and down career, in this critic's opinion. His latest is a haunted asylum thriller, titled House of Dust. Taking a page from Brad Anderson's Session 9 (2001) or the more recent Psych: 9 (2009), several characters find murder in a mental institution. However, this incarnation is nowhere near as interesting as the other two titles mentioned. Instead, House of Dust is a trivial affair and the film is full of filler, in both the story and shooting department.

Ashton Kutcher is terrific in “Jobs,” but the true stars are the geeks who look like angelic children from another planet: Josh Gad (Steve Wozniack), Lukas Haas, Ron Eldard, Nelson Franklin, Eddie Hassell. They are not famous, but they represent the creative mind at work and at play. They are the intellectual pool from which Steve Jobs got his ideas. And creativity is what this film, directed by Josh Stern and written masterfully by Matt Whiteley, is about. The creative process and how suits can destroy a living creative force like Apple Computer. Watching Steve Jobs (Ashton Kutcher) direct and manage.

Title: Jobs Directed By: Joshua Michael Stern Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Matthew Modine, Eddie Hassell, Kevin Dunn “Jobs” is an entirely wooden and bland representation of the tech icon, but for Apple devotees, it’ll still have an appeal as an informative biopic. “Jobs” features Ashton Kutcher as Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs. The narrative hones in on him during his earlier years, shortly after dropping out of Reed College. Later on, while working at Atari, Jobs’ enormous ego earns him a make-or-break assignment he truly can’t handle, so he reconnects with his old friend and computer genius, Steve Wozniak (Josh Gad). After fixing the [ Read More ]

Quirky indie hell, thy name is Family Weekend. Benjamin Epps's film is the very definition of affected cutie-pie whimsy and weirdness, charting the efforts of 16-year-old competitive jump-roper Emily (Olesya Rulin) to turn her parents "normal" by tying them up and putting them through a step-by-step rehabilitation course. The fundamental problem with this absurd plan is that dad Duncan (Matthew Modine) is a New Agey–artist cartoon, and mom Samantha (Kristin Chenoweth) is a cell-phone-obsessed-businesswoman caricature—in other words, grating make-believe characters about as prone to actual human behavior as your average ham sandwich. There's a dim-witted faux-homosexual older brother who goes by Thor (Eddie Hassell), a younger brother (Robbie Tucker) with a photographi...

Emily (Olesya Rulin) is a 16-year-old who is growing incredibly frustrated with her parents' lack of parenting skills. Her bread-winning mother, Samantha (Kristen Chenoweth), is a career-focused business executive who never turns off her work; while Emily's father, Duncan (Matthew Modine), is a painter who seems totally unflustered by the creative (and financial) rut that he has been stuck in for the last several years. Emily and her three siblings (Eddie Hassell, Robbie Tucker and Chloe Bridges) all have much different methods of attempting to earn their highly-distractable parents' attention, but nothing seems to work. Diretcor Benjamin Epps' Family Weekend takes place during a very crucial time for Emily. The film begins as Emily competes in a speed-jump-roping competition at her high school, which leads up to the speed-jump-roping regional finals the following day. Emily is totally dedicated to speed-jump-roping, so much so that most of her classmates mock and tease her about it.

Between hosting the red carpet special and singing the closing song with Seth MacFarlane during last night's Oscar broadcast, Kristin Chenoweth had a noticeable presence at the Academy Awards this weekend, so now seems like a good time to unveil the trailer for Family Weekend, Benjamin Epps' comedy, starring Chenoweth, about a teen who takes her parents hostage for the weekend. Directed by Benjamin Epps, Family Weekend stars Olesya Rulin as a 16-year-old overachiever who decides to tie her parents up and try to bring her family back together after they miss her jump-roping competition. Chenoweth is playing the career-driven mother and Matthew Modine plays the carefree artist, who might not be contributing much to the family financially. Also among the cast is Shirley Jones, Eddie Hassell and Joey King, whose recent credits include The Dark Knight Rises and the unfortunately short-lived NBC comedy Bent. Here's the trailer, which...

Project X Red Band Trailer. Nima Nourizadeh‘s Project X (2012) red band movie trailer stars Nichole Bloom, Martin Klebba, Thomas Mann, Jonathan Daniel Brown, and Oliver Cooper. Project X‘s plot synopsis: “Three high school seniors throw a birthday party to make a name for themselves.
