With How to Train Your Dragon 2 Oscar-nominated for Best Animated Feature and his nutty Fxx comedy Man Seeking Woman in the midst of its first season, January has been a big month for Jay Baruchel. But if the actor has his way, this is only the start of a truly massive year; during an interview with Collider, Baruchel revealed that he’s hoping to make his feature directorial debut on Random Acts of Violence sometime in 2015.
An adaptation of the comic by Jonah Hex scribes Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, Random Acts of Violence will center on two comic-book writers who hit the road to promote their new character Slasherman. When real bodies start piling up in ways that mirror the murderous creation’s work on the page, though, the two realize that Slasherman may have taken on a life of his own.

Celebrated and often-controversial rocker Matthew Good has just released "Had It Coming," the first single from the Vancouver musician's forthcoming 13th studio album, "Arrows Of Desire."
Good, who in recent years has experimented with a number of musical styles from acoustic to symphonic rock, and concepts (2009's "Vancouver" was about his home city and 2007's "Hospital Music" was about his battle with bi-polar disorder), is going back to a simpler place with his new song and album — straight up rock.
"It's fucking simple rock," Good tells HuffPost about the album due for release Sept. 24. "I grew up listening to bands that were four or five chords who made it magic and that's kinda what I wanted to get done. That's not saying there aren't some complexities on the record because there damn well is, but I don't know... it was just fuckin' fun to do."

Sophie Barthes Madame Bovari casts Mia Wasikowska. Paul Giamatti circling role in Gustave Flaubert's novel adaptation. Mia Wasikowska is confirmed to star as Emma Bovary in the Occupant Entertainment-production scripted by Rose Barreneche, reports Variety. Paul Giamatti is apparently also looking at a key role, but is unconfirmed as to which at this time. Produced by Occupant's Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino, the Madame Bovary adaptation stays faithful to Flaubert's story, but is a fresh retelling of the classic, focusing on more contemporary and youthful themes. Production is scheduled to start this fall. Wasikowska who is repped by Rgm and Wme and known mostly for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, was last seen in Albert Nobbs with Glenn Close. The two are up for Juno Fan Choice and Album of the Year. They have to defeat Arcade Fire, Drake, Michael Buble and Nickelback in order to nab the former, and once again have to compete against Drizzy, Buble and Nickelback to win the latter.
Aside from vying for the two awards, Avril also receives a nod in Pop Album of the Year. The girlfriend of Brody Jenner is facing off the likes of Down With Webster, Hedley, Lights and Marianas Trench.
Lavigne took it to Twitter to express her excitement of receiving multiple nominations. "Just woke up in Japan to learn I was nominated for 3 Juno Awards in Canada. Awesome start to the day. Thank you!!! xo Avril" so she wrote.

Now that Warner Bros. has announced a director for its next Superman movie -- and while the full title of film yet to be revealed -- speculation has begun on storylines and cast members. The gates have been open and there's no locking them back up again, so let me do a round up of the gossip out there and I'll also offer my commentary and analysis of what's being tossed around:
According to Movie Newz (all the cool kidz use "z" these days), director Zack Snyder wants to work again with the man who played Ozymandias in Watchmen. He's Matthew Goode, a British 32-year-old who was seen by western audiences earlier this year in the romantic comedy Leap Year. Movie Newz cites "sources" which could be anyone: someone in Goode's camp maybe wants to float his name out there since he has a past connection to a Snyder film,...

HollywoodNews.com: Los Angeles-based post-hardcore band From First to Last have officially announced that they are going on hiatus as a band. Since the departure of lead singer Sonny in 2007 and then losing current singer Travis Richter a few months ago, it seems as if the band needs some time to compose themselves.
The last original member, Matt Good, gave Altpress the following statement regarding the news:
“Hey guys, just wanted to take a minute to update you all with the current status of Fftl. As of now right now we are basically going on hiatus. Now before everyone starts jumping to conclusions I just want to make sure everyone knows me and the other members of the band are all still very, very close. We have been best friends for years and will continue to be for as long as I can possibly forsee, so I don’t want...

Canadian rocker Matthew Good has paid tribute to his former bandmate Geoff Llyod, who died at the weekend, in late January. The bassist, who founded the Matthew Good Band with the star in the 1990s, was found dead at the end of January. The cause of death has not yet been publicly confirmed.
And Good admits he's still in a "state of shock" after learning of the tragedy. In a post on his official website, he writes, "I really don't know what to say right now. Having just found out that Geoff has passed I'm still in a state of shock. Geoff was one of the founding members of the Matthew Good Band, and, as far as I'm concerned, it was never quite the same without him."
"I remember a lot of things when I think of Geoff. Like me, he suffered from extreme mood swings and depression, something that...

Very often, we hear and read about “Hollywood-inspired” movies in Bollywood. This time, it’s the other way around!
A Hollywood film, Leap Year is said to be inspired by Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. This would be the first Bollywood box office hit to inspire a Hollywood film.
Leap Year, set in Ireland, is directed by Anand Tucker and stars Amy Adams, Matthew Good and Adam Scott. Like the Bollywood version, it follows a girl who travels to great lengths to meet her boyfriend. On the way, she meets another guy who she ends up falling in love with.
Apparently, Ali was unaware of the remake and says, “Jab We Met has an innate charm which everyone can relate to. Besides, the characters Geet and Aditya, played by Kareena and Shahid, are easily identifiable. It's quite universal in its appeal.”
