- Robert D. Mayne is known for Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) and The Golden Child (1986).
- Born during the Great Depression in 1931, Bob was the second child of Daniel John Mayne and Ann Haley Mayne of Ironton, Ohio. His father died when Bob was 7 and his mother Ann moved her family to California. His mother was strict, but Bob admired her strength and often said his mother was the most influential person in his life. It was at a party that Bob noticed a lady wearing black toreador pants. Bob ended up marrying that woman, Margaret Crohen Mayne (his wife for 30 years). They raised two daughters, Lisa and Linda, encouraging them to follow their heart's desires, no matter how high those desires might range. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his older sister, Joan Hogan; and his wife Margaret. Bob is survived by his daughter Lisa Mayne and son-in-law Paul Myszka, of Reston, Va.; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Swan, of Thousand Oaks, CA; and grandchildren Kelsey Swan of Denver and Robbie Swan of Thousand Oaks.
- Robert D. "Bob" Mayne, who worked in a variety of fields before he became an on-screen-credited Transportation Coordinator for Paramount Pictures, passed away at his home in Panorama City on February 26, 2016. He was 84 (born in 1931). Personally and professionally, Bob was passionate about the dramatic arts. He studied drama and directed plays at Los Angeles City College, and at age 27, won a small role as a wagon driver alongside Fred MacMurray in the 1959 feature film "The Oregon Trail." But family obligations ultimately forced him to seek other employment. Ironically, getting a commercial driver's license became his theatrical path back into the motion picture industry. In his mid-forties, Bob began a 20-year career driving for television and movie studios, the last 15 years with Paramount Film Studios. Bob worked his way up to become a Transportation Captain and Coordinator, eventually obtaining screen credit for four films: Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek III: The Search For Spock, The Golden Child and Summer School. A long time member of the Teamsters Union, Bob served in the Marine Corps. He was active with the American Legion Post 871 in Panorama City.
