Film Constellation is launching sales at Cannes on $10 million family CG animated movie “The Growcodile,” about a young girl and her pet crocodile, who embark on a wild adventure.
Bridget is a gifted young girl with a big secret: she has a pet crocodile, Gilbert, that she hides in her room. Dutch Features Global Entertainment has sold live-action children series “Rudy’s Crazy Christmas Show” to the pay TV group Canal Plus in France and French-speaking Africa. The series will be broadcast over the Christmas holidays on Dec.25 and 26 on Canal Plus.
The Dutch show, which will be dubbed in French, follows a child superstar, Rudy (Kylian de Pagter), and Sara (Noëlle Simson), an 11-year-old girl who suffers from a serious illness and hopes to receive a medical treatment in France. When Rudy wakes up in Sara’s garage due to a misunderstanding, her parents decide to keep Rudy hostage and ask his parents for a hefty ransom in hopes of finally paying for their daughter’s treatment. The event reaches a dramatic climax on Christmas Eve, when Rudy is supposed to perform his long awaited Crazy Christmas Show.
Pim van Collem, Dutch Features CEO, said this was a “historic deal” for the company.

The Netherlands Film Production Incentive scheme has backed 21 film projects to the tune of €6.1m in its latest funding round, including 15 feature films, five documentaries and one animated feature.
The average investment was €291,185, with the smallest being €40,000 and the largest sum, €900,000, going to the team behind 2015 fantasy film Admiral [pictured] for their new project Redbad 754 A.D.
Currently in pre-production, Redbad 754 A.D. will be directed by Rob Reiné (who is attached to direct episdoes of Marvel’s upcoming TV series Inhumans) from a script by Alex van Galen. Dutch producers will be Farmhouse TV en Film, with Belgian outfit Bulletproof Cupid co-producing.
The Conductor, directed and written by Maria Peters and produced by Shooting Star Filmcompany, received the second largest grant with €898,111. Peters’ previous credits include romantic drama Sonny Boy and family film Mike Says Goodbye!.

It is anticipated that these projects will generate €47.9m ($64.6m) in Netherlands-based production expenditure.
