Welp, That Finale Happened...
I hate to have this start this way, but I just gotta be honest as someone who has been a fan of The Amazing Race since it's first episode. This was probably one of the worst finales of the show ever. It's a shame, because this season, which featured YouTube-and-social-media-start-studded teams was for the most part a very fun ride.
But let's not jump too far ahead just yet and head back to the beginning of the end...
Teams are told they are heading to Los Angeles, CA to start their final leg of the race. And for the first time in Race history, teams get to fly Premium Class. Usually, teams have to travel coach and when they haven't traveled coach, they've been penalized. I assumed the upgrade was some kind of product placement for a super cushy airline, but no, it appears Race producers...

Three social media-friendly teams remained atop Friday’s season finale of The Amazing Race, but only one will get to vlog about winning the $1 million grand prize.

The Legend of Zelda is a classic Nintendo video game that fans have been waiting to see brought to the big screen for years. One day it might happen, especially since Nintendo is actually thinking about getting into the movie business again.
While we wait to see what happens with that, here’s a great fan-made trailer for a non-existent live-action film for the fantasy franchise. It was created by Brandon Davidson, who says:
“We got together with some of our local cosplayers and made a fake trailer trying to show that Legend of Zelda would make an incredible movie. It was a really fun project for us and thought it'd be fun to share with you guys.“Our trailer is more of a mood piece for a Zelda movie in general rather than any particular game or story, but having said that, my personal favorite for a movie would...

NBC’s Grimm this post-Thanksgiving Friday drew 5.1 million total viewers and a 1.2 demo rating, dipping 6 percent and a tenth week-to-week.
Constantine — on the heels of this bit of bad news — led out of that with 3.2 mil and a 0.9, down 9 percent and two tenths.
Dateline opened NBC’s night with 7 mil and a 1.3, topping all of Friday in both measures.
Over on CBS, The Amazing Race did 5.3 mil/1.0, down 12 percent and a tenth.

Something weird happened last year on Survivor. A contestant from another CBS reality show appeared on the program. Previously, CBS had imported stars from Survivor and Big Brother onto The Amazing Race. And it also cast Willie Hantz — brother of Survivor’s Russell and uncle of Survivor’s Brandon — on Big Brother. But Survivor — which is still considered the granddaddy and gold star of reality television, even if it doesn’t have the Emmy awards (or nominations, for that matter) to prove it — had never accepted sloppy seconds from another CBS show.

Sunday (March 23) night's installment of "The Amazing Race" came down to one decision made in the first 15 minutes of the episode. I'm not saying there was a "right" answer or a "wrong" answer in the moment, but the choice was made early and once it was made -- incorrectly, as it turned out -- there was nothing left to the episode and what followed was a 45-minute anti-climax. That's too bad, because this was perhaps the first episode of the season that was well-structured in terms of Detours and Roadblocks, featuring difficult tasks that had the chance to shake things up in terms of team placement. I write "had the chance to," because they didn't. This week's Top 4 was last week's Top 4. And last week's Top 4 was 3/4ths of the previous week's Top 4. We've had five Legs so far, which means 20 Top 4 finishes. The teams now in the Top 4 have *15* of those finishes.

So far, this “Amazing Race: All-Stars” season has frustrated me a bit. I didn’t love the huge gap between the first and second flights in the premiere, nor that we had an entire episode determined by wandering around looking for wedding dresses. I also didn’t love that this past week’s episode saw six teams get an insurmountable three-hour advantage based only on taxi-based luck, leaving the remaining three teams with a no-margin-for-error window to avoid elimination. Not surprisingly, as frustrated as I’ve been, Joey Graceffa & Meghan Camarena are even more disappointed. Team YouTube spent finished in next-to-last in the first Leg and, with very little room for advancement, started the next two Legs in last. Unable to get on that first flight out of China, there were left running against John & Jessica and Brendon & Rachel. Last Sunday’s Leg came down to a simple mistake: At a Roadblock,...

The Amazing Race, Season 23, Episode 8: “One Hot Camel”
Aired Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Abu Dhabi’s Formula 1 race track is the sleek beginning of this hit-and-miss 8th leg. Afghanimals leave first, and must use the satchel of coins they picked up earlier to unlock a car and get going. Not much of a code, though, since most teams came prepared with their numbers already—except the Ice Girls, who have a typical ditz moment holding up the coins to the lock like a sensor. Also typical, Tim asks his ex to promise not to yell at him if he drives, to which she yells at him to promise not to drive slow. Oy, just screw already.
Mr. and Mrs. Dr. have an Express Pass, and say that they will definitely be using it with the Double U-Turn coming up. They also might use the U-Turn itself on...

The Amazing Race, Season 23, Episode 6: “Choir Boy at Heart”
Aired Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
We are in Poland, on the longest pier in Europe, where Tim and Marie depart first off the edge. Well, in my fantasies. In reality, they are instructed to take the train to Vienna, Austria, and find the Vienna Opera House, where a creepy “Rigoletto” will lead them to the costume department and their next clue. Jason and Amy depart second, and Amy starts off the episode delighted that she’s going “where The Sound of Music is!” We get a random cut-away of Tim from Team Oklahoma’s butt-crack, and with that the “opening” is complete.
The order from last leg soon loses all meaning when all the teams meet up in Warsaw for the connecting train. They get a chance to discuss Brandon and Adam’s loss. Everyone asks the Afghanimals if they U-Turned them,...

Last week, the remaining eight teams on The Amazing Race arrived in Gdansk, Poland. Several teams suffered from taxi troubles and difficulty completing the Detour challenges. I must say that the polka challenge was extremely amusing. Tim and Danny chose to U-Turn Leo and Jamal, who in turn decided to U-Turn Brandon and Adam.
Timothy and Marie (Reebs) were the first couple to reach the Pit Stop. The final team to arrive, Brandon and Adam, were eliminated.
So who will take the lead in this leg of The Amazing Race? Let's find out!

Last week on The Amazing Race, nine teams arrived in Norway from Lisbon, Portugal. Brandon and Adam were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop, which was a Viking Longhouse, complete with rowdy, feasting Vikings. I loved the Vikings, and Brandon and Adam felt right at home with their bearded brethren. They received a prize of $5,000 each, and the news that the teams were still racing.
Nicole and Travis offered to help a desperate (and lost) Timothy and Marie (Reebs) in exchange for the Express Pass. Reebs was not pleased with Timothy's decision.

The Amazing Race, Season 23, Episode 1: “We’re Not in Oklahoma No More” Aired Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Phil Keoghan appears and tells us it is high noon, and that we are in an old western movie ranch. This is merely an excuse for fun music as nothing is really accomplished here, even after a tease that the money has been “stolen.” At least we get treated to two whole seconds of a stunt show style performance, because how else would you start the 23rd season of a reality show? Anyway, after a stumbling beginning, it’s thankfully all business as we meet the contestants. They are:
1. Former NFL Teammates Chester and Ephraim, who, incredibly, went from being bagger and customer to ending up on the same NFL team.
2. Theatre Performers Rowan and Shane, drag queens whose relationship is left predictably unclear.
3. Exes Tim and Marie, who have a hate/hate relationship.

The Amazing Race is back for Season 23 this Sunday, and host Phil Keoghan is opening up to Et about a season he promises will be full of ultra-competitive characters.
ETonline: Can you tell us about the new season and what the fans will be excited about?
Phil Keoghan: The tone is quite different just because we really made a point of selecting people who have crazy competitive spirits and by doing that we've ended up with this really eclectic mix of competitive people, so, you know, when you think of an ER doctor, you would have to assume that they're A-types, that they're incredibly competitive to have got through med school and that they're hardened individuals in terms of their mental toughness. But then if you look at say, Brandon and Adam, one of whom lives off the grid, who have these big beards, they are really almost the antithesis, of say, an...

"The Amazing Race" returns Sunday, Sept. 29 with Phil Keoghan still at the helm and now CBS has announced the 11 teams that will race around the world for a $1 million prize.
See all 11 teams here in our photo gallery
This season, which marks the 23nd race around the world for the series, will bring back the Double Express Pass twist that was introduced last season, in which the first Team to check in at the first pit stop will earn two "Express Passes" -- one to keep for themselves and one that must be given to another Team by the end of the fifth leg of the Race.
As Teams travel through four continents and nine countries, spanning more than 35,000 miles, they will paraglide high above the skies of Iquique, Chile, subject themselves to a bone-chilling plunge in Norway and buckle up for Formula One Racing in Abu Dhabi.
