Theatre Review: ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Returns With Ingénue Julia Udine, Enigmatic Cooper Grodin
Chicago – The Phantom in one word? An enigma. But he’s so much more. He’s lonely, desperately in love, a musical genius, misunderstood, vengeful, afraid and angry at a world that was so cruel to him. His shining beacon out of the darkness is his music – and falling for Christine. But The Phantom has to try to force her to feel the same way. He doesn’t want your pity. He just wants to be musical, loved and understood.
Play Rating: 4.5/5.0

Cher took "The Voice" stage during Tuesday night's finale for a highly-anticipated performance (above) of her new single "Woman's World."
But when audiences saw the wig that Cher was sporting, the song took a back seat. Of course, outrageous headgear is nothing new for now 67-year-old Cher -- from her Native American headdress to her Ronald McDonald red locks, the legendary singer has been known for her daring cranial choices.
But the one she wore on "The Voice" had many befuddled. Was it some auburn and black cotton candy? Was it a black and a brown dachshund fighting atop her head? Was it some sort of muted cockatoo?
Even with strobe lights, a massive Iron Throne-like structure and a gaggle of scantily-clad dancers behind her, the only thing "The Voice" fans were talking about on Twitter was Cher's wig.

When your son grows up and moves away, what to do with all his stuff? Old basketball jerseys, tarnished high school trophies, um, a few L.A. Lakers' championship rings? If you're Pamela Bryant, the mother of Lakers star Kobe Bryant, you might consider selling them for a tidy sum. But better check with Kobe first. In a cease-and-desist letter to Goldin Auctions of West Berlin, N.J., Bryant is seeking to block his mom's June sale of 42 pieces of early Kobe memorabilia worth an estimated $1.5 million. He alleges the items are not hers to sell. The auction firm responded...

Kobe Bryant is speaking out against an assault allegation. The shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers was accused of roughing up a young man during a confrontation at St. Therese of Carmel Church in San Diego last Sunday, August 14, but he has through his attorney claimed his innocence.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 16, attorney Mark Campbell acknowledged, "Mr. Bryant is aware of the baseless allegations asserted against him." He added that the 32-year-old NBA star "is prepared to defend against them fully." The lawyer also identified the accuser as Thomas Hagos.
Thomas has reportedly filed a police report against Kobe, complaining to have suffered a slight wrist sprain because of a clash with the basketball player. It was said that Kobe grabbed a cell phone from Thomas because he thought the young man was taking his photos. After seeing there were no photos of himself or his wife inside,...

Following the unquestionable success of Nolan's Batman reboot, Green Lantern is the next DC hero in line for a big-screen treatment and, like the proposed (then scrapped) Justice League film before it, will reportedly be shooting in Australia. Hey, with an announced budget of $150 million, every tax rebate helps - and Australia's got plenty of 'em.Casino Royale's Mark Campbell is set to direct a script from TV veterans Greg Berlanti and Michael Green. There's still no confirmation whether the oft-rumored Chris Pine (Star Trek's new Captain Kirk) will take the lead role. With pre-production set to begin in July, filming will start as soon as November (so they'd better get moving on that casting huh?). Warner Bros is currently eying a December 2010 release date, but that's almost definitely subject to change if the studio decides they've got a hit summer movie on their hands. What do you...
