“Manthan” is a landmark for Hindi cinema for a number of reasons. For starters, it was the first film in the world to be produced not by a single production house, but the farmers of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Federation who contributed Rs.2 each for the production of the movie. Furthermore, it is based on a story written jointly by Dr. Verghese Kurien and director Shyam Benegal. The story actually takes place during the White Revolution (also known as Operation Flood), whose impact extended to uplifting the living standards of rural communities, to empowering women farmers and ensuring self-sufficiency in dairy production, marking a significant milestone in India's agricultural history. As such, the script actually focuses on a case that highlights the issues the people who started the program faced, particularly in rural communities.

Bhubaneswar, June 4 (Ians) Gaining the confidence of the coach is the most important thing in a team environment and India senior men’s football team defender Akash Mishra is reaping the reward of that trust.
In the last nine matches the team has played, Mishra has missed only 12 minutes in all. Such has been his rise over the past few seasons that the 21-year-old has become India’s best option at left-back.
Head coach Igor Stimac and his trust in him has played a big role in his ascent, says Mishra.
“I think it’s a huge factor and very important for a player, especially a youngster like me, in his career when the coach trusts him to get the job done. And when that happens, even an average player becomes a great one because that gives him confidence, and he keeps pushing himself to improve every day,” says Mishra.

There is no doubt that T20 cricket brings the exuberance and fearlessness of youngsters to the fore but the format has also shown that there is no substitute for the experience, which plays a vital role in tense match situations
In the ongoing Ipl 2023, the likes of M.S. Dhoni, Ishant Sharma, Mohit Sharma, and Piyush Chawla have proved that experiences cannot be brought from the market and they still have that hunger and desire to learn, re-invent and make an impact for their respective teams.
Many of them were almost forgotten stars before the start of the Ipl 2023, but the veterans have defied age and expectations and rewound the clock with their impressive outings in the field.
Ms Dhoni (41 years)
It has been nearly four years since M.S. Dhoni retired from international cricket, but the 41-year-old continues to deliver for his team Chennai Super Kings in Ipl with both bat and captaincy.

New Delhi, May 8 (Ians) Prenatal screening is of utmost importance to prevent thalassemia, a blood disorder, said doctors calling on the need to increase screening. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder transmitted from both the parents to children, resulting in reduced haemoglobin, due to which the body’s red blood cells, which carry oxygen to all the cells of the body, are not able to function properly. This leads to anaemia, which makes the patient feel tired or short of breath.
Severe anaemia can damage organs of the body. Additionally, repeated blood transfusions lead to iron overload which can cause organ damage, if not managed adequately.
India has the largest number of children with thalassemia major in the world about 1-1.5 lakhs. About 10,000-15,000 children having thalassemia are born every year in the country accounting for 10 per cent of the total world incidence.

Lucknow, May 1 (Ians) Stellar efforts from fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq and the leg-spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra helped Lucknow Super Giants restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore to a modest 126/9 in 20 overs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday.
On a challenging black soil pitch, Bangalore began their innings well by not losing wickets in the Power-play. But as the innings progressed, they kept losing wickets as Naveen picked 3-30 while Bishnoi and Mishra had identical figures of 2-21 to tie down Bangalore.
Barring a 44 from captain Faf du Plessis, Bangalore’s batters weren’t given any breathing space to break the shackles and could only hit eight boundaries in their innings, the lowest by any team in Ipl 2023 till now.
On the first ball of the innings, Krunal Pandya got a turn and bounce, showing signs of what would come in the game.

Bengaluru, April 10 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore’ top three batters Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell slammed contrasting fifties to power their side to a mammoth 212/2 against Lucknow Super Giants in an Ipl 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, here on Monday.
Kohli was at his aggressive best in attacking pacers in power-play while making 61 off 44 balls. On the other hand, Du Plessis was at 33 off 31 balls and looked scratchy but he found his timing to be unbeaten on 79 from 46 deliveries while Maxwell smacked 59 off just 29 balls as the crowd was treated to some scintillating strokeplay.
Kohli got his first boundary with a not-so-convincing shot — getting a fat top-edge on a pull off Avesh Khan in the second over. When Avesh gave width on the very next ball, Kohli drove him authoritatively through extra cover for four.

After “Mulk” (2018), “Article 15” (2019), “Thappad” (2020) and “Anek” (2022), filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is back with “Bheed,” another hard-hitting film that shines a light on the fabric of Indian society.
The film is set during the 2020 Indian pandemic lockdown and tells the poignant story of migrant workers stranded without basic necessities while trying to go home to their villages. Shot in black and white, it is deliberately evocative of the 1947 partition of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan when people were uprooted from their homes in the largest migration in history.

India’s Central Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) has “advised changes” to Yash Raj Films’ “Pathaan,” the comeback film of superstar Shah Rukh Khan that also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
Controversy erupted in India on Dec. 12 when the song “Besharam Rang” – literally shameless color – was released. A segment of the song features Padukone in orange colored swimwear and Khan in a green shirt. Some saw the color orange as saffron – the color associated with India’s ruling Hindu nationalist party, the Bjp. Green is the color traditionally associated with Islam. India has had a long history of communal clashes between the two religions.
On Dec. 14, Narottam Mishra, the home minister of the Bjp-ruled central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, told the media that the costumes in the song were “objectionable” and that it had been shot with “a dirty mindset” and warned that the film could be banned in the state.

The controversy over the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone-starter film ‘Pathaan’ is yet to die down in Madhya Pradesh. Amid rising demand to ban the film in theatres, the issue is likely to be discussed in the upcoming winter session of the Assembly scheduled to commence from Monday.
The controversy around ‘Pathaan’ was triggered after state Home Minister Narottam Mishra objected to a song from the film titled ‘Besharam Rang’, claiming that it hurt religious sentiments of the Hindu community. Mishra said the way the colours saffron and green have been used in the costumes used in the song is objectionable.
Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam went one step further and asked Shah Rukh Khan if he would dare to watch his movie ‘Pathaan’ along with his daughter.
“Will he (Shah Rukh) dare to watch film with his daughter? I am asking Shah Rukh Khan, your daughter is 23-24 years old,...

Jogi
Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub
Director Ali Abbas Zafar
Ali Abbas Zafar’s Jogi is a relevant and important piece of work recalling one of the most horrific episodes of law-sanctioned carnage in the history of mankind.
The year is 1984, and the dramatic brutal and hardhitting screenplay is set in Delhi in the days following the assassination of Mrs Indira Gandhi on October 31 when allegedly, the administration was shut down. Police and marauders alike were given a free rein to loot and burn Sikhs.
Jogi captures the initial shock and bewilderment of the Sikh community with disturbing dexterity. There is a traumatic sequence in the early hours of the prepared pogrom when Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role, boards a Delhi bus with his father and is glared down and then thrashed by co-passengers for reasons that become apparent to Jogi and his ilk only later.
