Stuntman-turned-director Derek Barnes has expanded his 2016 short Walking Supply into a feature, which made its world premiere at this year’s Blood in the Snow film festival.
Walking Supply opens with a bang as the Russian offices of an international corporation are raided by armed men of unknown origin who kidnap several of the staff. The men end up in a labour camp, and the women probably have an even worse fate. They’re told if their company pays for their release, they’ll be freed. Until then, work until you drop if you don’t want to starve.

Today, it was announced at Canada's Hockey Hall of Fame that the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival's opening film will be none other than the Canadian film Score: A Hockey Musical. Moreover, this film by director Michael McGowan (One Week) will hit Canada's theatres on October 2.
In this film, Olivia Newton-John (Grease) and songwriter Marc Jordan both play the parents of a teenager (Noah Reid). This kid's mom home-schools him, feeds him with organic foods, takes him to the art gallery and becomes dismayed when he reveals a love for Canada's most popular sport (i.e. hockey) even though he has never played in an organized league. Moreover, with his talent, this kid will get out of obscurity to become a hockey celebrity overnight.
The film also stars singer Nelly Furtado, as a hockey fanatic, Stephen McHattie, Dru Viergever, Hawksley Workman, Dave Bidini, John Pyper-Ferguson, Wesley Morgan, George Stroumboulopoulos, Brandon Firla,...

The first casting news from the already controversial seventh entry into the Saw franchise, Saw VII in 3D, has hit the net and it yields no shockers. Yet, that is.
According to IMDb the returning (and unofficially confirmed) cast includes Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, and Tanedra Howard alongside (we're guessing in flashbacks) Alexandra Bokyun Chun, Jon Cor, Franky G, and Dru Viergever. Mind you, IMDb isn't the most reliable of sources so we await official confirmation from the powers that be.
Lionsgate's Saw VII will once again being helmed by a really troubled Kevin Greutert and written by the dastardly duo of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Look for it in theatres this October 22nd when it will duke it out with a Paranormal Activity sequel.
Expect more really soon.

Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, Tanedra Howard will all be returning in Lionsgate's Saw VII 3D, alongside Alexandra Bokyun Chun, Jon Cor, Franky G and Dru Viergever, so says the unreliable IMDb. According to his recent blog entry, Kevin Greutert will in fact be heading up to Toronto has a replacement director to David Hackl after being pulled out of pre-production on Paranormal Activity 2 due to contract obligations. No word on where the story will go, but the seventh film was penned once again by writing duo Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Saw VII 3D arrives in theaters October 22.

At the end of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring I remember being awestruck for two reasons. One it was a cinematic experience to behold and I had just beheld it; it was refreshing and exhilarating. The second feeling was a pang of instantaneous remorse when the first name sprawled across the scene for the end credits.
“That’s it?! What?! No! More!”
I had just sat through a 3 hour film which had left me wanting more. I was not and am not an avid Tolkien fan and even resented the man slightly going in to the film. By the end, Peter Jackson had made us amiable acquaintances. That’s what a good film does, it draws you in to a new world, makes you feel and then spits you back out with little pieces of it still attached to your mind. Keep that in mind: I...
