"Inside Man" screenwriter Russell Gewirtz has been hired to pen the $35 million thriller "Black Mass" for Cross Creek Pictures says Screen Daily.
The story investigates the connection between the FBI and former Boston mobster turned informant Whitey Bulger, who is on the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list. Gewirtz will pen a new screenplay based on both a previous draft by Mark Mallouk and the book by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill.
Brian Oliver, Todd Thompson and Brett Granstaff will produce with shooting to kick off this Fall in Boston. Cross Creek financed "Black Swan" and the upcoming "The Ides Of March" and "The Woman In Black".
