Most of the cast of “Boy Meets World” reunited Saturday at ’90s Con in Tampa, Florida — with the notable exception of Ben Savage, who played the lead role of Cory on the show. Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga, appeared to address Savage’s absence without naming him specifically.
She said to the audience, “when you really commit to a relationship, when you really commit to this idea that we are always going to be in each other’s lives … that commitment to a relationship is such a lesson for everybody.”
In 2020, Fishel and costars Rider Strong and Will Friedle told Variety that Savage had apparently “ghosted” them. As Fishel put it, “He just kind of disappeared from our lives.”
Up to that point, Fishel and Savage were especially close — Savage even visited the Nicu after Fishel gave birth to her son prematurely in 2019. While speaking Saturday, the actress didn’t...

“The Wonder Years” reboot will not return for a third season at ABC, TheWrap has learned.
The network has chosen to cancel the sitcom starring Elisha “Ej” Williams, Dulé Hill and Saycon Sengbloh, which ran for two seasons. The cancellation comes just over a month after the coming-of-age drama aired the finale for its sophomore season, which saw the Williams family head to Disneyland.
Debuting its first season in September 2021, the reimagining of the ’80s series of the same name similarly centered on the Black middle-class Williams family during the late ’60s in Montgomery, Al. Don Cheadle narrated the series an adult Dean Williams while Elisha “Ej” Williams played 12-year-old Dean onscreen.
In May 2022, controversy came over the show as executive producer and director Fred Savage — who starred in the original series — was fired after multiple allegations of inappropriate conduct. While specifics regarding the misconduct were not revealed at the time,...

Though Sza and Drake have been in each other’s orbit since at least 2009, the two have never collaborated — until now. The pair just released “Slime You Out,” a down-tempo rap-n-b track where they take turns dogging out the opposite sex.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with you girls,” Drake begins. “I feel like y’all don’t need love, you need somebody who can micromanage you, tell you right from wrong.” Following a sung verse lambasting women after being played, he swings it to Sza, who goes in on men.

The problems with Close to You aren’t immediately apparent. It’s a quiet film about Sam (Elliot Page), a trans man, living in Toronto. He’s trying to decide whether or not to return home for his father’s birthday party. Sam comes from a family whose uneasiness with his transition sometimes manifests as an aggressive insistence on their progressive values. He considers whether he can endure their performance.
Written and directed by Dominic Savage, Close to You focuses on the drama of Sam’s homecoming. Returning to his small town near Lake Ontario forces him to confront long-buried feelings about his family and an old friend (Hillary Baack). The film yearns to capture the stages of this emotional exhumation, but a clunky screenplay makes for a less affecting watch.
The film’s visual grammar is built on intimate close-ups that try to capture the imperceptible awkwardness of the past and present colliding.

The actor makes a convincing big screen comeback as a man visiting his family for the first time since transitioning, but effective moments are offset by clunkiness
Dominic Savage’s work tends to focus on people, usually women, facing some form of disruptive challenge to their everyday life, specific and stressful and never anything but utterly believable. He drew out Gemma Arterton’s greatest performance in 2017’s Toronto premiere The Escape as a deeply unsettled woman wanting out of her responsibilities as wife and mother. His Channel 4 anthology series I Am… has introduced a range of characters at an intersection, from a devastating Vicky McClure grappling with her partner’s emotional abuse to recent Bafta winner Kate Winslet as a mother struggling with a daughter crippled by social media addiction. Sam (Elliot Page) has been dreading this day for weeks, maybe entire years: The young trans man is heading home for a long-delayed family visit, back to the sleepy Canadian suburb he fled years earlier, this time more fully himself than ever, even if his own flesh and blood are — at least, he suspects — loathe to fully accept him as he is. And who is he?
In “Close to You,” we eventually learn that Sam is on a delayed calendar, stunted by the years he spent struggling before his somewhat recent transition, though crisper details are harder to come by. At one point, he mentions off-handedly that he graduated high school nearly twenty years ago (Page turned 36 a few weeks after production on the film wrapped), but he’s living a life closer to that of someone who just graduated. He lives in a friend’s house, he’s finding...

Elliot Page conquered a new challenge for his first movie role in six years. In “Close to You,” an observant drama that premieres on Sunday at the Toronto Film Festival, there’s basically no written dialogue in the script, so everything that you hear in the movie was improvised by the actors on the day of shooting.
“I’ve never done anything like this before,” Page told Variety in a recent Zoom interview prior to the film’s premiere. “I found it incredibly intimidating.”
In “Close to You,” Page’s character Sam hasn’t visited his family since his transition four years ago. It’s not that he thinks his family isn’t supportive, but Sam doesn’t want to be treated like a different person — or have to bear the burden of their ignorance or discomfort. On an eventual trip home for his father’s birthday, Sam has a...

This Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
The true identity of former Inquisitor Marrok is a key mystery that Ahsoka fans have been obsessed with solving for the past four episodes. Unsurprisingly, the enigmatic villain sparked many theories.
Some fans believed Marrok to secretly be the new canon version of Starkiller from The Force Unleashed video games, while others were sure it must be Ezra Bridger turned to the dark side. Others even suggested that Marrok could be the former Padawan Barriss Offee who was Ahsoka’s friend before she framed Ahsoka for bombing the Jedi Temple and got her kicked out of the Order. But now with Marrok’s sudden death at the hands of Ahsoka in “Fallen Jedi,” we’re left with even more questions than answers. That said, one clue from his death scene suggests we’re headed toward a particularly horror-tinged twist later in the series…

Erika Jayne was sued in federal court Tuesday by Marco Marco fashion designer Christopher Psaila. The designer says the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star used her husband’s Secret Service connections to swindle back nearly a million dollars in credit-card charges that were actually legitimate.
In court documents obtained by TheWrap, Psaila alleges that Jayne’s now-estranged husband Tom Girardi conspired with three Secret Service agents – Robert Savage, Steve Scarince and Kenneth Henderson – to maliciously prosecute Psaila.
The Marco Marco designer says the defendants leveraged their connections, including an American Express employee, to get $800,000-$900,000 in charges reversed by falsely claiming they were fraudulent without doing due diligence.
Psaila says Girardeau used his friendship with Scarince – then-head of the Secret Service in Los Angeles – and Savage to get charges made from 2015-2016 returned, even though the costumes, designs and other items had been delivered. American Express ultimately refunded Jayne...

The artist behind “Because I Got High” is seeking a higher office: Afroman is officially running for president in the 2024 US election.
After he announced his bid last December, TMZ reports that Afroman, born Jason Foreman, filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission on April 18th. Luckily, he gave himself a good window of time before partaking in any 4/20 activities.
This news comes just a few weeks after police in Adams County, Ohio sued Afroman, alleging the rapper invaded their privacy by using security footage of them in his music videos. The clips were obtained when the plaintiffs raided Afroman’s home in August 2022 on suspicions of drug trafficking and kidnapping, which turned out to be unfounded.

Megan Thee Stallion is speaking out about the impact the Tory Lanez trial had and still has on her mental health, as well as the responses from fellow members of the music industry who “treated my trauma like a running joke.”
In an essay published in Elle on Tuesday, the Houston-raised singer and rapper spoke out for the first time since the trial, addressing the racist and sexist responses to her being shot in the foot by the Canadian rapper, a former friend and member of her inner circle. Monsters do exist and they are out to get you – at least according to the new trailer for The Boogeyman. The 2023 horror-thriller is based on a short story by horrormeister Stephen King, and the new trailer confirms the adaptation’s packed with jumpscares and a truly terrifying creature.
The cast includes Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets), Chris Messina (Air), and Vivien Lyra Blair (Obi-Wan Kenobi) star, along with Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Madison Hu (Bizaardvark), LisaGay Hamilton (Vice), and David Dastmalchian (Boston Strangler). Host‘s Rob Savage directs from a screenplay by A Quiet Place‘s Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, and Black Swan‘s Mark Heyman.
Director Savage compares The Boogeyman to Poltergeist in that it has a classic horror movie vibe and an equal share of scares and heart.
“I vividly remember the terror I felt reading King’s short story as a kid, and it’s this feeling...

Rob Savage's "The Boogeyman" was once an under-the-radar, feature-length adaptation of a minor Stephen King short story from the author's "Night Shift" collection. Made for the Disney-owned 20th Century Studios, the film was slated to premiere on Hulu at some point in 2023. But a well-received test screening in December 2022 changed everything. Factor in an enthusiastic response from King himself and the post-lockdown popularity of horror at the box office, and Fox/Disney would've been foolish to skip a theatrical release.
As was the case with recent hits like "Barbarian" and "M3GAN," "The Boogeyman" isn't star-driven. Though it does have the King pedigree, the story is one of the weaker entries in "Night Shift." Still, that title conjures up all manner of childhood nightmares (some of which have a way of barging their way back into our slumbering subconscious in adulthood). "The Boogeyman" may be an amorphous concept, but the...

"There's no such thing as monsters! You need to grow up!" 20th Century Studios has unveiled a second official trailer for The Boogeyman, a chilling new Stephen King horror adaptation from the acclaimed genre director Rob Savage (of Host and Dashcam previously). Savage is killing it with his features!! This looks super scary, oh my goodness!! Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little sister find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it is too late. "It's the thing that comes for your kids when you're not paying attention..." The film stars Madison Hu, Vivien Lyra Blair, Sophie Thatcher, David Dastmalchian, LisaGay Hamilton, and Chris Messina. This continues to look like the most horrifying haunted-house-with-kids-in-it movie since the original Poltergeist. It's landing in theaters everywhere this June - and...

(This story contains spoilers from the second episode of Succession‘s fourth season, “Rehearsal.”)
First, they stole their father’s birthday present. Now, they’re after his birthday future. Following the final Succession season premiere‘s tense bidding war for Pierce Global Media, the second episode sees the siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) once again conspiring against Logan (Brian Cox) with a particularly cutting scheme: Voting against the upcoming sale of the family business and forcing their dad into a groveling position against purchaser Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård).
It’s a big thorn in Logan’s paw, so wounding that he debases himself with an impromptu appearance at eldest son Connor’s (Alan Ruck) equally improvised karaoke bachelor party. Alas, Logan doesn’t quite sing for his supper, but he makes a pained case to his children to back down — a case that comes as way too little,...

O’Grady’s partner Andre Portasio said he died “unexpectedly but peacefully” on Tuesday evening.
“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humor, wit and compassion,” Portasio said in a statement.
Born in Birkenhead, near Liverpool, in 1955, O’Grady was working as a local-authority care worker when he began performing as Savage, a tart-tongued Liverpudlian drag queen.

British entertainment has lost a truly unique talent. From drag to dogs, gameshows to the gay scene, trailblazer Paul O’Grady was one of our very best. Millions of us who’ve savoured his effervescent screen presence over the past 35 years have been left heartbroken by the news that he has died aged 67. O’Grady’s versatile career as a comedian, TV presenter, radio DJ and theatre performer means that there are few Britons whose lives he hasn’t touched. It’s not hyperbole to suggest that he attained national treasure status.
I first became aware of O’Grady – although I didn’t know that was his name back then – on the stand-up comedy circuit during the Nineties. As his drag queen alter ego Lily Savage, he was a roof-raising riot. With near the knuckle gags (“Me and my husband have an open marriage. I’m hopin’ he’ll f*** off...

Drake has come under fire for canceling his headlining performance at Lollapalooza Brasil, just hours after he was spotted partying at a Miami strip club.
The Toronto rapper was due to close out the Saõ Paolo festival on Sunday night. In a statement announcing the cancelation of his set, festival promoters blamed “unforeseen circumstances” involving members of his sound and production team. “Drake was excited to perform for his fans in Brasil. Unfortunately, this is beyond his control,” the statement added.
However, just hours before he was due in Brasil, Drake was spotted at a Miami strip club where he was celebrating 50 Cent’s birthday party. Social media footage showed Drake partying into the early morning hours of Sunday morning.
Skrillex served as a last-minute replacement headliner for Drake at Lollapalooza Brasil.
This summer, Drake is set to embark on the “It’s All A Blur” tour with 21 Savage.
