Not much has been changed in the Hindi remake of the Malayalam-Tamil-Kannada blockbuster Drishyam. Says director Nishikant Kamat, "I've retained a lot of the original. The biggest re-tweaking we did was in the playing time. While the original film is 3 hours long I've cut down Drishyam to just over 2 1/2 hours. The seaside location of the original is in Drishyam, though I've relocated the drama to Goa."
There are embellishments in the Hindi version of Drishyam. Says Nishikant, "I've also added things to the plot that were not there in the original. There is that whole sequence of Ajay Devgn in the Atm booth where he makes sure the CCTV captures him. Tabu's interval point entry was not there in the original."
The director is all praise for his actors. "Ajay was willing to completely surrender to play the middleclass family man. Not once did he demand a fight or stunt just to appease his fans.

Recently Ajay Devgn signed up a Rs. 400 crore deal with the general entertainment channel Star India. The deal is that the channel will have the exclusive satellite rights for all the upcoming movies of the actor up to 2018. This means all the new films of Ajay Devgn for the coming five years that will include a minimum of ten films. It is a smart move on the part of the channel as Ajay is the only actor after Salman Khan to have his four movies in the exclusive Rs. 100 crore club. The channel already have the satellite right for his earlier eighteen movies such as, ‘Gangajal’, ‘Singham’, ‘Zameen’ and the popular ‘Golma...

Here we go again. In 2011, Ajay Devgan stepped up to the plate with Singham, a remake of a Tamil film dripping with nostalgia for a time gone by in Hindi cinema. Big ridiculous action is the in thing, and while South India has been doing this stuff consistently for decades, sometimes in the mid-90s, Bollywood tried to "grow up" and grow out of their silly games. Well, it turns out that people really liked those overblown action spectacles, and Singham was a big hit. Back in December, Devgan went back to the well with Son of Sardaar, another cartoonish action film, this time based on Buster Keaton's Our Hospitality/SS Rajamouli's Maryada Ramana. This film didn't set the overseas box office on fire, but back in...

New Delhi, Nov 11: It's not a Friday but two mega films are coming out Nov 13 because it is Diwali, a much-awaited date on the Bollywood calendar. Yash Chopra's last directorial "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" (Jthj) and Ajay Devgn-starrer "Son Of Sardaar" (Sos) are releasing together Tuesday, leaving audiences a tough choice to make.
On the one hand, there is Ajay, whose last films "Singham" and "Bol Bachchan" raked in the moolah at the box office, and on the other is the deadly combination of Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, A.R. Rahman and Gulzar.
The films are different in genre - if Sos is a comedy, Jthj promises oodles.

Tezz is a widely anticipated movie for a number of reasons. Firstly Ajay Devgn is doing an action thriller after a long time. The last one being Qayamat: City under threat in 2003 and since then has delivered two of Bollywood’s biggest grossers, Golmaal 3 and Singham. Anil Kapoor returns to Bollywood films, hot off successful appearances in popular American TV series 24 and a cameo in Mission Impossible 4. Priyadarshan is actively directing different films as opposed comedies, starting with Aakrosh, a hard-hitting social drama and now Tezz, a slick action thriller. Can Ajay Devgan deliver another 100 crore blockbuster? Will Anil Kapoor be back with a bang? Can Priyadarshan pull off an action film? These are just some of the questions we went in to find out…

2011 was a great year for music in the Hindi film industry with an eclectic mix of styles, moods, vibes, beats, fresh new sounds and cool grooves. The songs ranged from romantic ballads, to full on rock, to the playful, the funny, the traditional, the internationally flavored ones and everything in-between and even some with the track tinged with a little bit of each. So many of the soundtracks this year were so good that it was not just one song that was killer good, it was most of them. Because so many albums this year were such a good collection of brilliant songs, think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Delhi Belly, Rockstar and more, we had a tough time limiting ourselves to 25 Best Songs of the year, so we thought why try and decided to go with 50! We now present the 50 best songs of 2011!

They are the new kids on the block in the Hindi film music industry, but brothers Ajay and Atul Gogvale have been creating award winning soundtracks and background scores for Marathi films since 2004. Their first foray into the Hindi film industry was the Ajay Devgn starrer Singham. Audiences fell in love with their range and depth of sound in the songs ‘Maula Maula’, ‘Singham’ and ‘Saathiya’ and could not wait to hear more. Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra apparently agreed and hired them to create the sound for their version of Agneepath. Using their Marathi flavor as a basis and taking into consideration the new telling of this classic, the brothers say as soon as they heard the script of Agneepath they knew they had to create music that was full of grandeur and that it needed to be larger than life. Since the day Dharma Productions’ unveiled the first look of their 2012 remake of yesteryear hit Agneepath, one thing was for sure – that the film will be devoid of Dharma Productions’ trademark extravagant song sequences. That is, stars lavishly dressed in Manish Malhotras dancing to Farah Khan’s directions with 1,000,000 extras in the background to a familiar tune claiming to be new.
Accordingly, audiences and critics alike had no hopes or expectations of a typical Dharma Productions soundtrack from Agneepath, a presumption that was affirmed when Ajay and Atul Gogvale of Singham fame were announced as the music directors of the film rather than the likes of Shankar-Eshaan-Loy and Vishal-Shekar. The film in questions will be titled 'The Arab The Camel & P Madhavan Nair' and it is the Hindi version of Priyadarshan's Malayalam movie which is on the verge of completion. The original stars Mohanlal.
'Yes, I am remaking 'The Arab, The Camel & P Madhavan Nair' with Ajay. This is the first time I've decided to do a Hindi version of a film even before.

Mumbai: ‘Singham’, since the very first day of its release, has been designating a solid and dazzling success for Ajay Devgan. The Box Office is also elated to have nosed the aroma of the success. It is but natural that the state of prosperity might rightfully bring some unbridled delights for the actor for time being.
But Ajay is not a man of that type. He does not want to relax and consume from the store of his success while waiting for bad days to drive him again into fire. He seems to be sensible enough to accelerate for a new challenge for sustaining the degree of his success.
Spanking.

Yet another remake hits Hindi screens and tries its hand with lady luck. This time it is hit combo Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn in the action avatar, Singham. But it’s not the fact of being a remake that sets a film a part or be detrimental to any film. In the scheme of the things, the audience has somewhat gotten used to every third film falling into one of the categories remake, sequel or second episode. The challenge is making it enjoyable for even the select section of the audience that has seen the original, no matter the language or the period. For this hit jodi, the need to go a step forward and bring out something bigger and better than the Tamil Blockbuster starring Suriya Sivakumar and Sweety [Anushka] Shetty, is far greater with the memory Ghajini so strong even now. Considering the statement made by director Rohit Shetty...

Ajay Devgn's Singham seems to be attracting a lot of attention even before it hits theatres this Friday.Mns leader Raj Thackeray has apparently expressed an interest in watching the film before its release. Not surprising, considering Singham revolves around the issues faced by the Marathi Manoos.A source confirms, "Raj Thackeray wants to watch the film, and Ajay is trying his best to arrange a special screening for him."The protagonist in the film, Bajirao Singham, is an honest cop posted in the interiors of Maharashtra, trying to better the political and economic situation there against all odds.Interestingly, this tale of an honest cop versus a corrupt politician has increased the curiosity level amongst many political parties.Adds the source, "Since the film has really worked in Tamil, Raj Thackeray is keen to see how the janata in Maharashtra has been portrayed in the film."So far,...

It's rare to find actors appreciating other actors and supporting each other in B-town. But Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn's recent bonding is an answer to all the gossip mongers, who constantly tittle-tattle about rivalries between the actors. It so happened that Salman Khan, who himself is known for a super fit body and well sculpted abs, lately tweeted about actor Ajay Devgn praising his body and his six-pack abs in the film Singham. "Oye teri!!! Baap re baap. Superb Ajay's bod...

Ajay Devgn is famous in B-town for the innumerable pranks that he has played on his co-stars, directors and other crew members! This time around his target was his pretty co-star Kajal Aggarwal from Singham. News is that on one of the days of the movie’s Goa schedule, the actor told the naive Kajal to thrash goons for a particular scene. He made her believe that she was a modern day heroine and handed over a belt to lash out at the goons.
Unaware of the actor’s antics, the southern beauty innocently went ahead and gave the shot, with Ajay quipping “Maro Maro” in the background to encourage her! It was only later when the entire unit started laughing that the actress realized what she had fallen prey to and how the camera wasn’t actually rolling. Thoroughly embarrassed, the actress then went around apologizing to all the people she had beaten up!

Its raining remakes and Rohit Shetty’s Singham (translation: lion) is no exception, it being a remake of a Tamil film of the same name. While the Tamil version starred Surya of Ghajini fame, Singham’s Hindi incarnation stars Ajay Devgn who by the looks of the promos is ready to knock some teeth in.
