The group's original name was Dionysius' Darlings, but this proved too difficult for Dutch and Belgian TV presenters, and was changed to the more familiar Pan's People.
Formed in 1966, the dance troupe made a name for themselves in Europe
before becoming extremely popular appearing primarily on UK television
from 1968 to 1976. Featuring five or six girls in the line-up at any
one time, the main members were:- Flick Colby 1966 - 1972 (but
choreographer until 1976) Barbara Lord (Babs Lord) 1966 - 1975 Ruth Pearson 1966 -1976 Dee Dee Wilde 1966 - 1975 Andrea Rutherford 1967 - 1972 Cherry Gillespie 1972 - 1976 Louise Clarke 1968 - 1974 Sue Menhenick 1974 -1976 NB. Any appearances after 1976 are different incarnations of the troupe in name only.
