Children’s entertainment based on “existential angst and fear” might not seem like a natural combination on the face of it, but according to John Mulaney, that combination’s fueled the genre for as long as he can remember.
“A lot of entertainment that I consumed as a kid had a lot of either melancholy or dread, and it was not some undertone,” the comedian tells Variety. “Even things like ‘I know an old lady who swallowed a fly’ — every part of that [song] is odd and disturbing!”

Jamaican reggae star Cocoa Tea is helping U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama rally support for his White House campaign by releasing a new track in his honour.
Cocoa Tea - real name Calvin Scott - is urging Americans to "to unite as one" and vote for the Democratic frontrunner, labelling the inspirational politician a "trendsetter".
The song, simply entitled Barack Obama, is being released in the U.S. this week (begs10Mar08) by New York's Vp Records.
The 48-year-old star says, "The young people who are supporting him want change - and that's what he represents."
Scott joins a host of stars to come out and publicly support the Illinois senator's run for president, including Michael Keaton, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, will.i.am, Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith, as well as fellow Caribbean musician Mighty Sparrow who recently recorded a track titled Barack The Magnificent.
